  • Um who's dog is that? Whats special about him/her?

  • @spacemarin37 That is the mascot of the Irish Guards, I can't remember his name though.

  • @TheCadetForce His name is Conmael.

  • @chrisbenedictus Thanks man.

  • @spacemarin37 It's an Irish Wolfhound. The mascot of the Irish guards.

  • The tune at 3.46 is "Charlie is My Darling" an old Jacobite tune.

  • @JumpingFlapjack: No, it's is just a rehearsal. That's why it's not fully packed with people. Die Briten haben ein unverkrampftes Verhaeltnis zur Monarchie und Vaterlandsliebe. Bei uns Deutschen sieht das leider nicht so dolle aus.

  • The Irish drummer with the mascot dog seems to have a problem with swinging his arm front to rear, come on now, can't this be sorted.out wth a few extra drills ?.

  • @guardjudy Ive seen on most parades when hes out, they dont fully swing their arm back. Could be some special drill for the mascot.

  • @guardjudy Perhaps the Wolfhound bit him??.

  • Why is the Drum Major in State Livery? I thought that was only when the Soverign was present. As this was the Colonel's Review, the Queen was not present.

  • @bill1745 The Drum Major wears the state dress in the presence of all members of the Royal Family. The Duke Of Edinburgh was on the parade as Colonel Of The Grenadier Guards whose turn it was to troop their colour.

  • I'd love to live next-door to them on rehearsal night

  • I love how the Scots Guards parade around about on British streets, just going wherever they want! I wish we had some Scots Guards in the U.S.! It's like they are saying, "Look at me! I'm special!" So pompous, arrogant and wonderful! --

  • @captainmcsnappypants

the thing america needs is some home pride

  • poor sounding bass drum in old comrades

  • 2:08 "Alte Kameraden" by Carl Teike...!!!

  • Marvelous!

  • Brings back great memories. There is no better feeling in the world than marching down The Mall engulfed by that sound and an appreciative public.

  • Awsome camera what camera is it?

  • Great to see our troops showing how to do pageantry.

  • I love the dog!

  • That's my dog!!

  • Great video and presentation of each of the bands. I'm only kidding when I say they should buy a few more bass drums and place them among the guards so they don't have to hear the band bass from a block away. They are about to wear out both drum and drummer on each march. Bigdrum--you should be able to attest to that. I love the bands and their full stride marching. True professionals all.

  • Now I know how to walk my dog and practice my instrument at the same time !

  • The Irish Guards playing IN TREUE FEST (Firm in Loyalty), and the Coldstream Guards playing Alte Kameraden (Old Comrades), both by German march composer Carl Teike! Not bad!

  • This is a famous German March, IN TREUE FEST, by Carl Teike, the German march king, as good as any John Philip Sousa or Elgar!!!!

  • ^^ Love the red coats

  • British Patriotism at its best.

  • @TheFederalEurope only in england

  • Nice

  • Superb military music!

  • Superb! Well done the Guards! They never fail! The Best of the Best!

  • Excellent! Thank you and congratulations.

  • No Irish Guards????

  • @LordWellington15

The Irish Guards and Welsh Guards did not participate in 2010's Trooping the Colour. I believe the Welsh Guards were away on operations in Afghanistan, however the Irish Guards did provide most of the guardsmen who lined the route from Buckingham Palace to Horse Guards Parade.

  • @emptyangel

The video is about the bands not the troops. the bands are from all the guards labeled the troops were all Grens.

  • @bluebermyboi

I was replying to an individual comment, why would the subject of the video matter?

He was asking why the Irish Guards did not parade on Horse Guards for 2010's Trooping the Colour. Easily discerned since it is given that all 5 Guards bands always take part in Trooping the Colour and that 5 different bands appear labelled in this video.

Regardless, you are quite wrong. The guardsmen at 2:48 are Coldstreamers and like I said initially, the street-liners are Irish guardsmen.

  • @emptyangel

    my bad

    didn't see earlier comment

clearly the vid is more so of the band

  • @LordWellington15 0:10 - The first lot to march past. At about 0:12 it says Irish Guards on the screen.

  • Even The Dog Is In Step!!!!! Haha!

  • What is the music at 2:30?

  • @Myles0Harcourt

The march played by the Coldstream Guards

Band " Old Comrades ". German march " Alte Kameraden"

  • Oustanding, could listen to military music all day. What is the osng at 3:46, what a song!

  • @AbleDempsey It may be based on 'I belong to Glasgow'. The march is 'The Glaswegian' by J H Howe. I am not sure because 'I belong to Glasgow' is in 3/4 time and in the major. This section is in 4/4 time and in the minor! The tune proper appears later on (not heard in this extract). On either side is the tune 'Kelvingrove' (a part of Glasgow). This was originally the tune for 'The Shearin's No For You', a great song but too strong for the Victorians who produced the current 'nice' version.

  • @AbleDempsey The section from 3.46 is 'Charlie is my Darling'.

  • That sounds like a version of Charlie is My Darling

  • That guard at the front thought he would take his dog for a walk while he was at it

  • Thanks for posting this top quality clip. Love watching the Trooping of The Colours. I have been watching it since the early 80's when I was a kid.

  • The march played by the Scots Guards Band is "The Glaswegian" by Howe

  • @cerkiny Yes that's right. Thanks for that!.

  • @tralens Thanks to you both for filling in the detail so expertly.

  • Another great video thebigdrum...very steady to watch. Do you use a tripod? Marches are Irish Guards Band "Steadfast And True" Welsh Guards Band "To Your Guard" Coldstream Guards Band "Old Comrades" Grenadier Guards Band " King's Guard". The March played by the Scots Guards Band escapes me at the moment. It is a compilation of scottish tunes and I think was composed by Major James Howe, a former Director of Music of the Scots Guards. The tune they are playing is "The Rowan Tree"

  • @tralens Not sure the tune in 'The Glaswegian' is the Rowan Tree. Is that not the tune in the trio of 'Pentland Hills'?
