@mollybbe123 your not supposed to sit while cantering. You need a lighter seat because first, you look better while riding and second, it helps you balance more. So HA
@ScottysGirl414 Of course you're supposed to sit while cantering,unless you're out in a field for a good stretch or with a horse who prefers the rider off his back,however you should sit up the last few strides before a fence.A lighter seat does not look 'better',what looks better is a rider who can sit in sync to the horses stride, nor does it help you balance more.For 1 it makes it harder for the horse to take off at a jump and 2 if the horse runs out or refuses,you're more likely to fall off.

@MyaXXKristin Nope, none of these are school ponies/horses. My riding school actually doesn't own any horses/horses that people ride. All horses(back when I rode) were leased to them from people who didn't have time to ride them themselves. So they were what you call *real* horses. The little brown one(with a hind sock) is actually a very naughty pony. She's very strong for her height and age.
@MyaXXKristin ~She likes to race up to jumps. Like seriously... she'll see a jump and do anything possible to get over it. If you try and pull her back, she'll either do a few jumps, throw her head, or just simply take off whenever she saw an opening to take control over the rider. I at the time wasn't *physically* ready to ride her, but she was the only pony free for me to ride. So it's like I could have ridden someone else. I was stuck with her.

I think that you did really well to keep getting the guts to get back on and try again, obviously you were still learning and i think in 2 of the clips your girth might have been a bit loose!! but seriously to all those people who have posted mean comments how do you expect someone to learn?? When your pulling on your horses mouth and he or she is speeding up, the horse I ride sometimes now does that too, cuz he was trained as a race horse. I`m working on having lighter hands and just squeezing the reins to get him to slow down. I just need to remember that. Very pretty pony.

The only thing that wrecked the video for me was all the warnings everywhere. Could you maybe take a couple of them away? You can barely see some of the clips. :) Don't mean to be an ass, but there is almost too many, which can encourage others to post nasty comments. :) Just ignore them if they do. ^_^
ouch, quite few falls there, you silly banana! :D i can tell you exactly why though, and its the instructors fault for not telling you, your stirrups are far to short my dear :) i used to ride/jump with pretty short stirrups, it does nothing good for balance haha, im being taught every 2 weeks by an Olympic rider and thats the first thing he said to me! haha, anyway, i hope that helps, might help you stay on a bit longer anyway, good luck, best wishes :D

this seems to show some lack of care on the part of your instructor, as there is a lack of the basics and putting you on a horse you are not comfortable on is not safe! You are definitely doing the best that you can.
you actually fell pretty well. At least you held on and lowered yourself down fairly gently and even landed on your feet a couple times. I'm sure all these smart asses who have obnoxious comments were excellent riders from their very first lessons and never made any mistakes. yeah....lol.

It's not the horse it's the rider if it's nutty it needs to be broken in by a pro! And no offence but in one of them you did start the canter on the wrong leg and your girth strap was way to loose in a few of them you kept sliding to one side because of the girth, lean back on jumps you slide forward do you want to do a roly poly over his or her head and grip with your legs and get a crop he needs to be restricted a little he reminds me of a horse where I go riding bramble he's round the bend a

you dont suck. everyone makes mistakes and that was really funny. its good if you fall off, because you can analyse your work and learn from it. it also helps develop the relationship between you and your horse (who is gorgeous btw) th good times in this video wen ur wer in th saddle, u had great posture and it seemed like u could really feel th rhythm of your horse!
I completely agree with you on the lessons being way to expensive. I think I may have to quit soon too. I wish they were much cheaper.

ur not a bad rider Ive herd form a professional rider that is in the Olympics that before you jump u tighten ur knees witch causes the saddle to pinch ur horses shoulder and makes them stop or refuse right before the jump so next time wen ur coming up to a jump start to sing or fav song out loud an loosen ur knees hope it helps it does for me!

@butterscotch1997 Was jumping with one hand. Instructor was making me do a 5/6 bar line with one hand. I was really tired that day so I mainly lacked impulsion, but the horse was just so amazing to me! I didn't expect him to take such a big leap :O

I don't think your riding was that bad. Everyone has bad days, seriously. I've ridden since I was like four, owned three horses and still make worse mistakes than that sometimes! It's not always easy to stay in the saddle.

I don't think you are a horrific rider. I think everyone has their good and bad days, I have mine and anyone who claims to not have a bad day, is a liar. They are just stuck up snobs who are secretly beginners afraid to move on. Not every horse is easy going and ready to listen. I rode many horses like that and I had the same problem. I would squeeze my legs and tighten the reins. Its a common mistake of mine.
some tips!!Dont pull dead on his mouth and give him a kick for throwing his head and messing about, keep you hands relaxed and give and take. if soomeone pushes on you you push back so when you pull on his mouth hell pull back. also, when jumping stay forward for longer after the jump, you pulled the grey's mouth loads of times jumping !! hope i helped x

Once, I feel IN THE MUD when my horse started to refuse but then juped it and I wasn't expecting it. So I fell in the MUDDIEST part of the arena.... fun. Your actually a really good rider! you keep your hands still and have a quite seat, trust me ive seen alot worse. I dont think it helps in some of the clips your pony was being a bit of a monkey =) But that wasnt that many mistakes and naughtly moments for a whole year atleast your video didnt go on for 10 mins like mine would =) Horses are like people too they do have their bad days so we cant blame the horse either. My horse is exactly the same she has to bold at a fe4nce or she wont jump it

Looking at this video i would say that she has done nothing wrong, she has still hands and a nice quiet seat! Yes you can tell the horse isnt evil but in some points of the video the horse was being naughty for example when he/she was dancing round before that pole. Before you critasize you should get on THAT horse and see how hard it is.

ouch, quite few falls there, you silly banana! :D i can tell you exactly why though, and its the instructors fault for not telling you, your stirrups are far to short my dear :) i used to ride/jump with pretty short stirrups, it does nothing good for balance haha, im being taught every 2 weeks by an Olympic rider and thats the first thing he said to me! haha, anyway, i hope that helps, might help you stay on a bit longer anyway, good luck, best wishes :D

this seems to show some lack of care on the part of your instructor, as there is a lack of the basics and putting you on a horse you are not comfortable on is not safe! You are definitely doing the best that you can.

It's not the horse it's the rider if it's nutty it needs to be broken in by a pro! And no offence but in one of them you did start the canter on the wrong leg and your girth strap was way to loose in a few of them you kept sliding to one side because of the girth, lean back on jumps you slide forward do you want to do a roly poly over his or her head and grip with your legs and get a crop he needs to be restricted a little he reminds me of a horse where I go riding bramble he's round the bend a

ur not a bad rider Ive herd form a professional rider that is in the Olympics that before you jump u tighten ur knees witch causes the saddle to pinch ur horses shoulder and makes them stop or refuse right before the jump so next time wen ur coming up to a jump start to sing or fav song out loud an loosen ur knees hope it helps it does for me!

I don't think your riding was that bad. Everyone has bad days, seriously. I've ridden since I was like four, owned three horses and still make worse mistakes than that sometimes! It's not always easy to stay in the saddle.

I don't think you are a horrific rider. I think everyone has their good and bad days, I have mine and anyone who claims to not have a bad day, is a liar. They are just stuck up snobs who are secretly beginners afraid to move on. Not every horse is easy going and ready to listen. I rode many horses like that and I had the same problem. I would squeeze my legs and tighten the reins. Its a common mistake of mine.

some tips!!Dont pull dead on his mouth and give him a kick for throwing his head and messing about, keep you hands relaxed and give and take. if soomeone pushes on you you push back so when you pull on his mouth hell pull back. also, when jumping stay forward for longer after the jump, you pulled the grey's mouth loads of times jumping !! hope i helped x

Once, I feel IN THE MUD when my horse started to refuse but then juped it and I wasn't expecting it. So I fell in the MUDDIEST part of the arena.... fun. Your actually a really good rider! you keep your hands still and have a quite seat, trust me ive seen alot worse. I dont think it helps in some of the clips your pony was being a bit of a monkey =) But that wasnt that many mistakes and naughtly moments for a whole year atleast your video didnt go on for 10 mins like mine would =) Horses are like people too they do have their bad days so we cant blame the horse either. My horse is exactly the same she has to bold at a fe4nce or she wont jump it

Looking at this video i would say that she has done nothing wrong, she has still hands and a nice quiet seat! Yes you can tell the horse isnt evil but in some points of the video the horse was being naughty for example when he/she was dancing round before that pole. Before you critasize you should get on THAT horse and see how hard it is.

i wouldnt say you suck because you dont, i would try half haulting alot with your outside rien and when jumping make sure to crest release alot because your pony is wanting to stretch out alot and it looks like your not giving her alot of room. if you feel she is going into the jump to fast put a few trotting poles infront of the jump that will force her to slow down, also use alot of gymnastic lines and circles. but your a great rider :) its hard riding a super hot pony and you did it well :)

every rider has there off days including the famous such as the whittakers and pippa funnel etc. dont go judging people by how they ride no rider is perfect........................... i ride horses that i have no clue about and manage to stay on half the time,, you don't have to know the horse to ride it.
