@meredith8888 you got it!!! The point of the video IS to show the "needle in needle out" process of quilting! I love watching Michelle quilt because she does it so fast. I thought I'd video tape her and study her movement especially how she's able to pull the stitch through, reposition, and start up again so fast.
I know this was quite a while ago, but do you know the name of this particular kind of quilt? I have seen this arrangement before and think its really pretty with all the different colors of squares. Anyway if you can maybe give me a name for it or the pattern I'd like to know please. Love the videos of you and your quilting friends when you are working on something I find it fun to watch. Thanks.
@pomomary@pomomary I beiieve this is the Boston Common quilt. Here's a link to see one - just copy and paste this in your browser.. You can also google "Boston commons. Happy Quilting!!!
@cody1800212 she always tells great stories! That's what I love so much about our weekly gatherings ....good ole fashion conversation people just don't take time to have.
Quilting is a lost art in todays generation. I used to think it was pointless and useless back in my teen years...but I recently received a sewing machine for my b-day and am on my way to making my first quilt for a friend's little girl. Its FUN now!!!
Brilliant i bet that lady has been quilting for many a year and has made some beautiful quilts i do know quilting is big over in the USA but alas not herEe in UK but its getting there i have been at it for over two years now and love it ,,,addictive AND ENJOYABLE HOBBY
Avonlady, I know the feeling. It's the good ole "practice, practice, practice" I'm determined to get that fast myself. Hand quilting and quilting bees rock!
I really want to learn to quilt but cause sewing machine is broken I have to do it by hand , hope that I can do it...properly !!Thanks for showing how to do it !!! very kind of you
Oh my, that must take a lot of practice. I just poke the needle straight down, peek at it underneath and come back up. I have the sides rolled up and use a square lap quilting frame. It's taking me forever to quilt a twin bed size project. I'm just not confident enough to do it your way and don't want to mess up my quilt!
I would have responded sooner but I just checked my video today to see your question. Yes, this is a big sit-around frame. The women of the 1st Baptist Church of Corona, CA have been meeting every week for about 4 hours to hand quilt to raise money for mission projects. The woman in this video is in her 40s I believe and has been quilting since her teens. I too love to see her in action. Study the way she begins a new stitch after she pulls out the last one.
I did to when I videotaped Michelle. I just wanted a video to look at to practice her "moves." Because of how she quilts she covers more territory and thereby can finish a quilt faster! I just love handquilting!
I like the pattern but with the noisy music and talking ,talking i just see some neeedles in needles out what are you showing ????

Are you using a big sit-around frame? How long did it take before you got so proficient?
Inspiring video, BTW!
