great video, I usually just do trout fishing in small streams but am branching out to pike and was trying to decide on a size for rod, reel, line etc. any ideas? looking for 30in in northern minnesota. thanks for any advice.
nice idea i recently got into tying zonker flies/ rabbit strips. Never thought of making hackle out of zonker strips hmmm:) gota give this a try now tnx man way to go:)
Painting might not be as sexy looking as shiny molded eyes or whatever. But molded eyes are a pain to epoxy over. Paint forms to the shape of the head, and looks pretty decent when you get the sheen of the epoxy over it. Plus again, they're pike. They don't need much more convincing after they see something move. 99% of the time, it's dead meat.
are you using uni thread

You can buy it in the most of the flyshops known as Zonker stripe, or Rabbit Zonker

Good video! Thank you.
I plan on targeting pike this year, and now I can tie some quick easy flies for them.

yea i agree. often times I use flies long after the eyes fall off and the pike still eat them just as well.

what size eyes do you use?
MPpostino 3 years ago
I usually paint my eyes on before I epoxy the head. I use a larger finishing nails head for the white and a small one for the black pupil.

I like the pike flies. If you have more patterns for pike I know I'd love to see them.
