@willow... A week and a half is when most of the pain is gone, if you can take two. But a week(ish) is about right. I'm taking 3 weeks, I'm 13 days post op.
Ooh I have a quick question, I have a sit down job at a computer and I was wondering how long would it take (granted if everything went well) for me to return to work. I heard a lot of people here state that about after a week they are walking around, driving and feeling pretty good. Since you had the surgery I thought you would know better than a doctor who has not.
i don't understand this? how come you still eat all of this junk/unhealthy food, after you've had a sleve put on. wont you one day be able to eat what you used to be able to eat, and just be back where you started?
Thank you for the information, I thought with a VSG I would only be able to eat tablespoons of food, it is good to know that after awhile, as long as I am watchful, that I would be able to eat close to normal again, or at least "normal" as I am supposed to eat. :)
@Willow216p: Check out my channel by clicking on my name....I actually just posted 2 new "what I eat now videos" 2.5 years out. Take advantage of the time its small.....because yes you will be able to eat more one day :)
You give a great delivery, you give good pointers in a realistic way. You are inspiring me to not be so upset at how uncomfortable I feel. I just had lvsg- I'm am 3 weeks post-op and I can only get down a tablespoon at a time and it creeps up my esophagus. This video gives me hope that I will be able to eat more in the future.. I expect to eat less over all..but not only a tablespoon.. was it like that for you in the beginning? How long does it last? Thanks! Love your videos!
thanks for share, I was worry about going out and eat, because I have to eat very, very small protion people can star to see me weird. did you still eating slowly, I really like your videos and I see it over and over again, you made me feel more confindent about the gastric sleeve surgery. I has been so worry about the future after this surgery, I was thing that people, have to limit they self and maybe after loss weight pay the price feeling miserable dealing with after surgery consequence.
thanks for share, I was worry about going out and eat, because I have to eat very, very small protion people can star to see me weird. did you still eating slowly,
Also, you may be experiencing fatigue from food allergies or sensitivities. A lot of people are allergic to wheat, milk, etc... and don't know it. I just thought, "Wow, this girl is doing so much to change her life, I would want to know this if I was her, so I wouldn't be working at cross purposes". I wish you the best whether or not you decide this info resonates with you. =))
If you could make homemade chili for your lunch (maybe make a big one, and freeze portions for the week), and substitute organic, grass fed meat, you would really be serving this whole process of recovery better. Buffalo meat is a great sub for beef, not that you can't have beef too. Ok, I know that was super long. If you want any explanations, or support information for what I've said please shoot me a message...
...There wasn't much variety in the veggies and fruit, and it would be better to have a larger proportion of veggies. I noticed some fried/fast food, which cause inflammation and cravings as well. Fried foods increase inflammation by creating an imbalance, whereby you don't have enough good omega-3 fats to balance out the bad, inflammatory fats. Also the animals that are used for fast food meat are stressed out, and when you eat them you ingest the stress hormones...
....To substitute for the sweets, please never use diet products with aspertame, which is in most mainstream diet foods, as it causes cancer. Great substitutes are honey, agave (the light kind is so delish, it has milder taste, more akin to sugar than honey), granulated fructose, and cane sugar. There are a whole host of coconut based ice creams that use agave as a sweetener. And, the coconut fat is better for you than traditional ice cream...
From what you showed us, there are a lot of refined sugars in your food, mostly in the form of white breads/carbohydrates and some sweets. Refined sugars, particularly high fructose corn syrup, causes a vicious cycle of cravings and also inflammation. Inflammation causes a whole host of other issues (cancer, asthma, arthritis, etc...). Have you thought about shifting to whole grains, like whole grain brown rice, quinoa, spelt, kamut, etc...
You have obviously done great and difficult work on yourself, and I admire and support that!!! You seem to be quite a lovely person from what I've seen, and I think it is kind of you to share your journey with others. I do have a concern. I had been watching and enjoying your videos for a bit when I came upon this one, then I became worried. Please know I'm bringing this up because I was worried, and wanted to share things that I have learned with you, in case you hadn't been exposed to them...
@Z0bayr: Up until around the 6th month mark, yes. Since then I havent been going to the gym but I am active...I work on houses and am always on the go.
Hi love your vids. I am about to embark on sleeve surgery on the 30th here is australia and am loving the info in your vids. Have you got lots of loose skin?
Hey KellaskinnyWanda hehe, your so leetle now! must feel awesome, I have lost 88lbs since surgery now but still have a ways to go! but its all good, thanks for the photos, I like to see that I am eating probably the same amount portion size as you in a sitting. Sometimes I go back for 2nds depending what it is too. Maybe need to eat pork more often lol. great update Thanks! :D
Thanks alot....honestly, you are the best in your update. You are always on the track, you always within the topic...just SO PROFESSIONAL...Thanks thanks thanks...please never stop your update even if its one a month...still useful.
hi im wondering,at the buffet they charge for a seat no matter if ur hungry or not, do u get discount for having the surgery,or do they allow you to eat off someone elses plate?
@brandylorraine I didnt know this until you asked me and I mentioned it to my boyfriend - he used to work at a buffet and said that they actually did give a discount if people showed proof. You learn something new everyday!
"I don't know what this was, but I ate it." lol....you had me laughing hard on that one...sounds like what I do now. The small candy bars are odd to see because at the moment I can eat Reese Big Cups and then some...
I've been put in for surgery consult at the Veteran's Admin and thinking my surgery may be in June.
I haven't watched all the videos, but did you have to worry about excess skin? And you must be from around this area of the country. I'm in Bristol VA/TN.
Even though you are concerned with the amounts you can eat from time to time, these portions look very small to me, and I mean that in a good way. I will be happy if I can work my way up to eating like this. To be honest, most of it would still stick, give me the foamies and worse. Thanks for taking the pictures; it's really interesting to see what others can/can't eat. You look great!
That was very helpful. It's good to see. It is amazing to me how crazy sizes are. I really look forward to the day when I can shop at normal stores for clothes.
This is great! I am a very visual person, and it helps me to see what other people eat! I can't wait for someone to say I am "too skinny" That would be a hoot! You do look great!
Very informative. I'm a pre-opper and still worried about what I will or won't be able to eat down the road. But it looks like you are able to eat a wide variety of food. There's hope, then, of a "normal" life after WLS. Thanks for sharing.
You are so beautiful, you just look and sound fantastic! Those photos are great and I am so glad you showed them. The comparison of how much you can eat when you are drinking water is pretty amazing. That is going to be a hard adjustment for me!
you mentioned me! i think! haha i feel famous. just to clarify, i did feel unattractive a LOT of my life it was only in the past couple years I was able to change that but I'm so glad that I did!! And the points you made were so true.
