A girl who lived across the street from me married him and lived over in Malta. Guess they must have divorced as her name was not Kim but Marjorie. She was a dancer
i bought this from a second hand shop..scratched...but loved it...i was about 14....1970s...went on to get all i could by joe...in this great age ...THEYRE ALL HERE...omg im 52 now...WHAT A PRODUCTION...WHAT A GUY
Nice song - never knew Don Charles had other songs. The Hermit of Misty Mountain got a lot of airplay on Radio Luxembourg - it was an unusual song with a magical atmoshere - thank's to Joe Meek's production. It would have been a big hit if they'd spent more time on it (like they would have done these days).
When he lived in Malta he was married to a girl who lived across the street from me in Bradford. Her name was Margery. I understand he had 4 wives and 5 daughters. Quite a nice singing voice, I had not heard of him till I heard about him being married to Margery.
I don't think anyone will believe this, I dated Don Charles' daughter Juli in Malta when we lived there, We were fixing his boat and he started to sing this song, i was 13/14 years old and rooted to the spot, I can honestly say he has had a huge impact on my life, My whole life evolves around music now, Many thanks Don, kind regards, Dave.
I lived across the street from Dons mother -in-law.When he was appearing locally,he would bring his family with him and they would stay there.I remember Julie well,as soon as they arrived she would want to play out with me.I remember her sneaking out of the house at around 6 in the morning one Sunday, and knocking on our front door ,asking my mother "if Colin can play out with me today?",she would have been about 3 or 4 years old at the time, she used to follow me every where I went.Nice memories!

I was so lucky to know Don and his wonderful wife Kim.
We met them on holiday in Austria and kept in touch until he died some years ago.
He was a wonderful kind Man and with such a great love of life, anyone who knew him was better for it.
Miss you Don.

Yes his cover of Ben E King's Hermit of misty mountain was quite good, but I thought the flip side 'moonlight rendevous' was better.

Has anyone got Geoff Goddard's 1963 version of this? It was the flip side of 'skymen' and if I remember rightly sounds similar to this.

I first heard this in 1980 and it stuck with me. Pure genius. I searched in vain for years now it's here. Thank you!
