  • "Hearts and Flowers" is a song composed by Theodore Moses Tobani (with words by Mary D. Brine) and published in 1899, though its melody originally appears in a collection called "Wintermärchen" written by the Hungarian composer Alphons Czibulka in 1891

  • "Winter March" you can obviously determine that it is a march by the tempo. Danke!

  • @JRussoBuffaloNY published in 1893,sorry for the misinformation.

  • Thank you so much! favorite and 5 stars! I have wondered all my freaking life what this song was called. I remember it from old Looney Tunes cartoons too. I started looking for it but had no clue until I found your video.

  • They don't make them like this anymore. Thank God. It smells of long-unwatered aspidistras and old knickers. I love it.

  • LOL...yeah, this WAS used in many cartoons...

  • So this is the song that the world's smallest violin is supposed to be playing

  • Please explain.

  • There's an expression that says "playing hearts and flowers on the world's smallest violin" or "the world's smallest violin plays a sad song"

It's used to express mock sympathy when someone is being mellodromatic.

  • It was....soap....POISONING!

  • did u get that line from A Christmas Story?

  • That sounds very good for its age.

  • Wow! I never knew the name of this "sad music" and do thank you ever so much for uploading this and giving that great description!
