I have tried so many viewers and un installed them because i could not get them to function like the sl viewer 2. im going to try messing around with my settings now since i watched your video and i agree, you do not have any lag going on, my avi walks in slowwwwww motion omg lol

I just wanna know, I'm getting a new computer, 1TB harddrive and 4 gig RAM, Nvidia geForce G210, 512 mb. Is there any way to get the lights and shadows on you? GTS 250 (any brand will do, I have a BFG Tech.) is a good card. Lower high end, but defenatly higher than mid range. Its more energy efficient than the 9800GT, which means you only need one 6-pin cable instead of 2. Its price ranges from $130 - $170. I recommend getting the 1GB version as opposed to 512MB. The extra price is worth it.

Now, many hardware factors will determine performance, but with this card, I have no system lag at all. Let me know if you need more info.

Ok I'm trying to install SecondLife... and apparently my hardware is insufficient... I have a 3ghz processor, Nividia 8500 GT card, 2GB of ram and a Acer mother board... The drivers are up to date and so is everything else. Any help? :s

That should be able to run it. I used to run the game on an Nvidia geforce 6100, 2.2 ghz processor, 1 gig of ram. And I could run it on the lowest settings possible. I currently run it on a laptop with a Nvidia GeForce 9800M GTS, 4 gigs of ram, and 2.4 duo processor. I can run it on ultra settings... not sure why you would not be able to log into it.

I can't tell you how helpful and neat these videos are. I've watched a bunch. And I can't run my graphics on high. I have 2GB of memory and a 1.6 GHz processor.. IT's not the best and a crap graphics card.. Nvidia 6500? i think.

thank you Torley for the great video tutorial. I was just curious, my computer is really bad, but hopefully getting a new one soon, or getting this one upgraded. But anyways if this is'nt getting to personal, but what kind of computer are you running? Just curious. I had a HP. It ran great had all the FX Options up, and it did'nt lagg or anything and that was with LimeWire and stuff up. But anyways great tutorial!!! Helped with the details in it!!! =]

Hi Torley, awesome video! Also, I know a little trick for the people. If you press CTRL-ALT-V at the same time, you can zoom your camera to anywhere in the sim. :) Instead of the normal distance. Doesn't make it laggy either. :)

Awesome, I knew this tips. But it's great u remind to explain that to all residents. I wonder u remember to tell that if a graphic card have 256 Mb SL won't work good if u set SL graphics to 256 mb, my Imac has this lil problem. Problem is the system need some space to system and if SL is set to 256 u will see a laggi computer, and adding, when there is an client update, these set's all to recommended settings, and the recommended settings are 256 mb, pretty weird :D I've reported to Jira.

Hey Torley, you have the best tutorials and I would be less of an avatar without your free and loving help. ONE QUESTION: why does your SL toolbar, etc., look different than the old design? did that come with the upgrade to 1.19, Uhave that upgrade but my design still looks the same as before.. It looks good:)

You should really have specified the difference between software and hardware antialiasing. The new antialiasing options are software rendering. You can either add to that through hardware, or get more performance by disabling it in game since you don't take advantage of direct x and force your users to have to do things like this to achieve performance.

make settings, quit and they should be set in Linden stone (which is actual plywood)

If it crashes beforehand, all settings seem to revert, as per butt pain principle no.1

My machine almost never saves graphics preferences, either. I'm on a 15" macbook pro. I think it just doesn't log out the sessions correctly, because my last location pic doesn't change often (can be weeks old) and sometimes I don't get IMs when I login, but I get them the NEXT time I login.

No idea how to fix that, though. Reinstalls haven't helped.
