Beveren reacted how anyone would if they were sitting near flames and someone suddenly warned them that they were on fire: quickly and seriously (instead of assuming they were joking). it's funny because if an anti-marijuana psa was made for such a situation they would show a high person on fire not even realizing it...or realizing too late. honestly, a drunk is more likely to not realize they're on fire. conversely, "paranoia" (being extra cautious) may help a high person avoid this though lol

I did feel kind of bad for Ferre. While this is a funny scene, I have the feeling he may not be very proficient in English, and Maher's question kind of takes advantage of that. Van Beveren seems like he could be a very charismatic and competent speaker, despite the pot. Weirdly, he's the only religious speaker who actually made sense to me, and he didn't piss me off like the ex gay or the jesus impersonater did. I'm not frightened of him like I am of the other preachers in the movie.
