some people imitate, others enjoy the playing but only a few can create the guitar riffs and music that we all hold dear... and many generations will play in their own style, making hits in their own right, duly earned. But the originals will always be the ones that set the pace and style and trend of music forever
@gypsylama I couldn't get all of it, but it was something like, Justin Bieber should be cut up into tiny pieces and made into fertilizer... (someone correct me)
RGD: You get you guitar [at] seven o’clock or whatever time you get up and in go into a room to [by] yourself. Don’t allow nobody to call you are nothing. I don’t care who it is. So when check your lesson at seven o’clock, in the eight o’clock hour you got everything in. You understand, see what I’m talking about?
RGD: Now listen ever time you pick up your guitar you play your lesson, don’t play nothing else but your lesson so you get a time clock, see what I’m saying.
@hounddig I'm quite sure that the "broad" that you're referring to in this video is Rory Block. You might want to re-evaluate your sexist ideology, because what you wrote here makes you look very stupid.
How come nobody seems to understand him? I'm a white boy from the burbs of Cleveland, but have been around enough brothers to get the gist of his message. Practice without letting yourself get interrupted. Don't let anybody call. Just set aside your time. God Bless the Reverend and all he has done for music!
I think he's saying not to play guitar exercises ("lesson") when ur playing for real. It's good to practice your lessons, but when u play, u cant do that.
@trufiend138 I was wondering exactly the same thing before I saw your post. There probably weren't a lot of other women taking guitar lessons from him.
Why is some old codger trying to teach me music!! I'm a fucking bonefied legend!! A force to be reckoned with!! I don't need some fat arse with a cigar in one hand telling me how to practice! I bet he ain't ever even played semi-quavers at 300bpm constant for two hours and never drop a beat. What a hack!!
"Now listen, Every time you pick up the guitar just play your lesson, don't play nothing else. You understand? Just leave-get your guitar in the morning, around seven o'clock. Don't let nobody call you or nothing. And then in the evening, around eight o'clock or nine you play it again."
yes...to learn to play or play better practice twice a day...it's like God gives you twice as many days to learn...this method really works...great advice from a great player...I've done this and I've made leaps and bounds of progress
he said "don't play nothin' but your lesson" when you sit down to play, and suggests practicing every day from 7 to 8 am and 8 to 9 pm off by yourself somewhere.

what was this shot with? It looks like grainy, black & white FX added to digital. I'm not questioning the authenticity, just curious.

This is first time i was confused by quality.
It looks like faked digital, but really is authentic, judging by other copies of film.

RGD: Then in the evening from eight o’clock until nine is you practice hour. See what I’m talking about?
The Girl: keep the whole house awake.
RGD: ha uh [what]?
The Girl: keep the whole house awake. RGD: You just pose to get off to yourself.
pdxjo 9 months ago 4
@pdxjo; huh? so, its repeated, "keep the whole house awake"
"uh, that's right" "uhh" "you just 'spose to get off to yourself"
Meaning, practice, but practice for yourself, presumably at a place or volume where you're getting into it on your own.

And the broad says" yeah and keep the whole house awake"
Music is a lady and a broad is just a broad...
Cant believe she said that in front of a king. but he got the last final line when he said" you keep that to yourself" LOL....
