  • I found out my Pops is close friends with Teddy and he gave Teddy the idea to mix the old school music (like James Brown etc) into (at that time) the new school rap music.

  • miss those times!! thx for the share.

  • i looove old school hip hop dancin...

  • I need help, I heard a version of this song with a heavy organ chord that played over the chorus, and that organ chord was the last part of the song. What version of this song is that? Thanks :)

  • This brings back great memories. It was all about New jack swing back in the day!

  • Yep Yep...

  • Whatever happened to Aquil Davidson ??? Is he still doing his thing ??

    SHYT!

"Suge Knight, Sr." is SO on point. I got stories about him that would make people cringe. Auvil is cool, but Gene was a rough dude.

  • check the airbushed grafitti on the jackets! i miss airbrushed clothes... my brother, quite the artistic one in the family, used to airbrush, and charged kids in school and around the neighborhood to do it.

  • Aww i miss those times and I wasn't even born yet. New jack swing was the new sound of the late 80s and early to mid 90s. Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson even use the sound some of there early 90 songs because that's what everyone was doing. Teddy Riley worked with Michael

  • I was born and my childhood was in the NJS Era and as disposable some of the music was, it was ppl like Teddy Riley that endured to this day. So ppl can call it crap now and try to deny that they used to pop to it but it's more sensible to just embrace the music for what it gave and not all the fake shyt that came with it. So, kudos to this and the ERA.

  • man, its just a style of music, good dance music,,, music got all kinda flavas pick um don't diss um,,, word

  • Your fat & divorced, right? Anger management might help. The whole swing movement was about "the party" & "dancing". Not vocals and lyrics. Try aging gracefully, not "hatefully".

  • Actually, I'm neither. Just stating the facts there buddy.

  • The facts are the music was dope. Got people pumped and in party mode. As consumers that's what we ask of artists. Bring back the New Jack, Dirty South is junk.

  • You know what? You're right. I went back recently starting with Guy in 88 and worked my way through New Jack till around 94. I stand corrected. New Jack inspires groovement.

  • RIP Brandon. I remember when he was killed on 95th street. God bless him.

  • in the Old School days the Title New jack wasnt a good thing. Listen to Rakims song I aint no Joke and Kool Mo dees song How ya Like me Now.

  • 100% newjack style !!!

  • Man, what a great performance! Great video, a little to loud for me but better still, I love the tune! 4* and thanks for posting!

  • Where's Aqil? Was he behind the turntables with Brandon?

  • Aquil is the first dude that came out under the curtain and rhymed.

  • No that was Markell not Aqil.

  • No...that was Aqil

  • You're right, that's Aqil. Markell was on the turntables, wearing the leather hat.

  • Brandon was a sexy man in the group I can't believe he's gone and he missed when they nominated this song. RIP Brandon Mitchell!!!!! <3 T_T

  • Taken it back son! big props to Teddy! RIP Brandon!!!!

  • they got big huge heads

  • man ts wack

  • Whats the names of the song at start of the video.

  • I Left My Wallet in El Segundo - A Tribe Called Quest

  • The "runningman" dance. One of the most popular dances of all time. It was easy to do...for most people.

  • ...you can new jack swing on my nuts...

    ice cube

  • weak

  • ah...the good ol' days..

  • Firstly I would like to thank Teddy Riley for coming up with the New Jack Swing music. My favourite song from Wrecks-N-Effect is New Jack Swing (12" Club Mix). Aqil Davidson (rapping), Markell Riley (DJ & producer), Brandon Mitchell (DJ). In 1990 Brandon was shot dead. W.N.E changed their spelling to Wreckx-N-Effect. Aqil Davidson and Markell Riley were both rapping on the next album. I wish the New Jack Swing came back.

  • arsenio was my fav show!!!!!

  • yup yup word up!!!!

  • dam i think this is playa's favorite song...LOL

  • what ever happened to teddy riley?

  • they had flow!!

  • Reminds me of GTA: San Andreas, lol. Nice song.

  • Damn, what happened to Arsenio Hall?

  • He had Minister Farrakahn on one night to show the world what a friendly, intelligent, peace loving man he was. The Jews became angry, and Arsenio was off the air within the week and he slowly drifted into obskewerity

  • Yet no one complained when white talk show hosts had on "scientific racists" from far-right organizations.

  • Arsenio... come back pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

    TeeDot its going down.

  • your all right...im only 14 and i kno hip hop died after the new jack swing era cuz hip hop was never meant to be violent although NWA and Ice-T were lyrical geniuses

  • I agree with everybody hip hop was fun back in the day.Today's music ain't nothing but garbage.

  • That's for real.

  • New jack Swing Is Da sickest!.....Wats the instrumental called?

  • gangstas killed real hiphop bit by bit!

  • You're damn right!

  • The promotion of Gangsta Rap lead to the abandonment of the tenets of "REAL" hip-hop. Couple that with a generation of kids that's clearly disconnected from the history of hip-hop culture & black music in general, it's no wonder KKKorporate Amerikkka was able to monopolize our music & bastardize it. It was given to them by an errant generation of idiots & from that point forward, has degenerated over the last 15 years into a coonish & baffoonish caricature of itself..

  • Real gangster rap music was an art form. The crap we've been seeing the last decade, however, isn't gangster rap...It's black guys acting like fools. Early Ice T and NWA was genius. And that was considered gangster rap. If you want to say that music killed rap and hip, you're sadly mistaken. That music made rap. The idiots that followed killed rap.

  • i agree totally but the deal is the artists sold out for a dollar make that less than a dollar after points and taxes come out of your budget i believe real hip hop can be saved but only by the older generation the soulja boy chicken noodle soup, lip gloss generation don't have a clue

    numba1coachdotcom
