@373axle , yeah motortrend got in the low 7s as well. I think three problems with this video are:
1) the road wasnt flat. If you look carefullyat the beginning, it's actually a 5% incline.
2) this car was a dealer loaner that was hardly ever used. It had less than 1300 miles on it at the time they gave it to me. With a couple thousand more break-in miles (most auto testing sites test their cars with atleast 3000 miles on them), im sure it would be substantially quicker.
@4MATICbenz True, but I still respect what acceleration MB can produce for their models. Their combination of performance technology, like the various engines that make max torque under 3000rpm combined with the slick 7-spd auto, is a great step they made towards performance.
@ilovenissan , Loading the brake makes no difference. This car's 7-speed auto has a lock-up torque converter that pretty much does a better job of power delivery by simply stomping on the gas. Brake torque technique does nothing for this car (or my CLK550).
@prodriver1 faster than a chevy suburban? durr? lol why the hell are you comparing an ml350 which is a midsize sedan to a suburban which is full fulllll size. ml350 is tinyyy compared to a suburban man.
why dont just by the disel it is the same money and a lot faster

meh it just costs too much
an acura mdx wit their new 6 spd auto and the 3.7L V6 can do 6.6 s
just as luxurious but for way less and more reliable
its a no brainer

8 sec 0-60 is average for a V6 SUV so cant really complain with that...

when car & driver first tested this car, they got 7.1s 0-60. 15.4 quarter mile. Being over a full second off is a huge difference.

3) low octane fuel

@roberth214 True, the ML-class can fit in Suburban's trunk.

I think it is the 268 hp trying to lug that 4700+ lb SUV around that makes it slow
