I'm a huge Jonny Lang fan. Have been for a long time. No one (alive today) sings and plays with the kind of fire that he does. John Mayer's a better guitar player. Before John Mayer Trio "Try" came out I would never have said that. Now a few years later, having spent time with that and a ton of Mayer's other live stuff I have to say he's one of the best guitar players out today. I also have to say that John Mayer rips off Hendrix a lot and Lang is the best blues singer out today. Great vid.

@munsieman101 Of course he could beat me. Most guitar players could probably beat me. And I didn't say he couldn't play guitar, I just said he was a hack. That's not necessarily saying he has no skills, his music is just mostly garbage.

But I've heard his "non-mainstream stuff", and it's still hackish. He can play real good guitar, but the man is a narcissistic male celebutante who cares more about being recognized than about creating good music.

This guy is GREAT! Awesome voice and what a guitar player.He is almost too good for his age but we are blessed to have him around! When you think about it-he was too young to get into clubs at the time this video was made! At any rate , I really want to thank you for posting this! It is awesome!

Saw him in Pittsburgh just after he turned 17,about 5 monts after this, and he was amazing. Really pleased to see this and relive the experience ! Susan Tedeschi opened for him that night. I still enjoy hearing/seeing them both

Actually after looking through old ticket stubbs I find he was still 16(12 days before his 17th birthday). Saw him then again the next year when he was 18(just 4 months before the Live at Montreux video was made, which was just released). This was a great lineup too ! Doug Nelson, on bass, was killed in a car accident shortly after the Montreux gig. Jonny had the power and confidence, both times of a seasoned musician, something I`ll never forget !
