  • 32mpg???

  • Why do you have to stop/pull/engage when it's shift-on-the-fly?

  • What's with the wispering of Eagle?

  • @ramonsixto Subliminal message.

  • My dad used to work for American Motors back in the day and used to get lease cars all the time from them. Strangely, he never got one of these. :-(

This was the fuckin crossover SUV long before they became trendy.

  • Well sports fans I'm afraid Subaru released their first AWD station Wagon as far back as 1972, here's a quote from Wikipedia ... "The first generation Leone was released on October 7 1971 as a front-wheel drive coupé. April 1972 saw the introduction of the 2 and 4-door sedans with trim levels DL, GL. In September 1972 the four-wheel drive (4WD) station wagon was released, however it did not appear in the United States until 1974 as a 1975 model. SUBARU WINS!

  • @dcanmore That's true. However, AMC has Subaru beat in being able to deliver 4WD on-road.

  • the 1980-1988 AMC Eagle was assembled in

    Kenosha, Wisconsin, United States (1980-1983)

    Brampton, Ontario, Canada (1984-1988)

  • Why is everyone ripping on Subaru? They're a good company that improved on an already fantastic idea, give both companies some credit.

  • AMC Eagle----the most butch station wagon you've ever seen

  • Fuck Subaru

  • For people who give AMC and EAGLE'S a bad time/name/opinion, never experienced them. I own two and they hold up SO much better than the 80's GM cars. They are solid, and will go through anything. I love my Eagles.

  • AMC were resourceful with this car - the bodyshell was a facelift of a body which first appeared in 1971, and beneath were Jeep components...

  • @joh2 Ya it had the body of a hornet.

  • What, the BMW 5 series doesn't dream of going off road.

  • In my hometown of around 1100 people, there used to be about 15 Eagle wagons around town. Now there are only 2 that I know of.

  • Decent gas mileage, too.

  • I have 2 AMC Eagles and they ARE awesome.

Also have a 1996 Chevy 4x4 that my Eagle can outdo in the mud.

  • Don't tell Subaru Outback owners that their car is only a modern interpretation of an AMC Eagle, they may get a little upset.

  • @fsjgw Upset?

  • @Seattlecarnut - I figure that they think they invented the concept, but the AMC predates the Outback.

  • @fsjgw Indeed it does. I've seen my share of AMC Eagles long before Subaru released the Outback. It's too bad AMC was taken over and the Eagle dropped.

  • @fsjgw I actually found a Subaru outback video and told them that, for some reason the person who put up the video block my comments after that and people were mad about the comments, wonder why?

  • How about the fact that "eagle" is whispered creepily in the background of this video multiple times?

  • I'm sorry to say that I've never owned or driven an AMC Eagle.

  • @Seattlecarnut me neither but i was so damn close to owning one off a dealership lot!

  • @Tazman91291 Really? It's too bad you didn't.

  • @Seattlecarnut well instead i just got an 1982 amc concord 4 door with a straight 6 258hp engine. im only 18 yet im getting classics.

  • this one reminds me of Tron. Cool Commercial

  • These cars were so far ahead of their time! Can we say Subaru Outback?

  • Can we say, way more beastly than wimpy subaru? pshh.

  • Oh I remember that car! Thank you! Great Commercial!!
