@Ureteralclock1917 I got the iron cross from a reenactment I attended a while ago. The guy was going out of business and was selling everything he had in his shop. So it was the right price, so I picked it up then.
@MrPetarted86 I know right? Gotta change it up a little. haha! Actually, believe it or not, the 2nd Rangers are a very small group where we are. And the 29th doesn't even exist here. We do how ever have a large 101st group here. haha! And thanks for the compliment on my uniform. It has come a long way since this video.
@Archerpyro A blank is a bullet...without the bullet. It's just a bullet shell with black powder to make the "bang". So you get the effect of shooting, without the danger of shooting anything.
And a lot of movies use blanks for mainly the close up weapons. The weapons in the background are usually rubber and don't fire anything. So they add effects to make them look like they are shooting.
Can you take the adapter off to shoot live ammo or is that rifle modified to be a dedicated blank shooter? Also, I'm sure you guys mime the recoil when you're reenacting, right?
@Mr2ndAmendment Yes, you can take the adapter off of the rifle. I don't know where you can find a blank only M1 garand. For when everyone buys theirs, it's a real weapon adapted to shoot blanks. And no, I don't see people mimicking the recoil in reenactments. You get to sucked into the action around you, you just don't notice or care about the no recoil. haha!
@goldenboym16 If you want to get into WWII reenacting, it costs a lot of money to get the right stuff. People put thousands of dollars into their impressions to get the look everyone is looking for.
@goldenboym16 And when we reenact, we know when we get shot when you ether make eye contact with the guy who is shooting, or just using common sense, say like when you are running in the open and you hear a lot of gun fire...you probably got hit. haha! But it's an honor system sort of thing. We can't go out there expecting to be the next John Rambo. haha!
@ustink0815 I keep trying to type a response to this comment, but I just can't get what you are trying to say. It's a fake war trophy, what more is there to it? Besides, the all caps lock type is making it hard to tell if you are actually being serious or just trying to be funny.
@stupidass1 The first thing that pops up on the screen is a statement reading "The Iron cross is a trophy of war". A trophy of war is something you take with you from a battlefield, a souvienir, like an enemy pistol or medal. A cheap piece of shit imitation is something you buy in a military novelty store. IF that iron cross is actually a war trophy, then it has an interesting story behind it that people want to know about. If it's fake, then why wear it with that uniform? You look stupid.
@ustink0815 It's a WWII reenactment. It's fake, the medal is fake, the story is fake. It's a fake war trophy. I only typed that it was a war trophy on the video because people kept on asking me why I was wearing a german medal. So I put that there so people would stop asking me as much. It's fake ether way you look at it. So I'm not the one who is looking and sounding stupid right now. I'm done talking with you.
@leggozombieslayin I honestly have no idea what water he was talking about. I think he was joking about the water we had to clean our dishes or put out the fire....I don't think we were supposed to drink that water. haha!
@catholicforever There are a few different ways people attach the sling to their rifle. I found out how to do mine on google. Just type in how to set a leather sling on an M1 Garand.
@103dguy The bolt was closed all the way. I bought a batch of bad blanks. About 20 percent of the rounds didn't fire. And a lot of them weren't the first round. Trust me. The bolt was closed.
Heads up, if you get a misfire (even with blanks) you should give it 10+ seconds in case it's a hangfire. An out of battery explosion even with blanks will ruin your day.
@Schlennsen01 Yeah. That's why that was the only battle I did that. But it was like a spoils of war sort of thing. Which is something some soldiers did. And thanks, I try to make a video of all the new weapons I use reenacting wise.
i dont think that was a miss fire, you didnt chamber a round?... you need to pull the chargeing handle alll the way back, when you do it right, the bolt should just shoot foward you shouldnt have to push it. good vid thow.
@Sarge101stAirborne There was a round chambered. I was having problems all weekend with those rounds. Hand a hand full of duds. sometimes at the start, most of the time in the middle. Also in the video I only fired 7 of the 8 rounds. I found the round after as well...the primer was hit...let's just say not buying those blanks again. haha!
@Sarge101stAirborne I normally buy Swanson Blanks. Very good, never had a miss fire. But I was short on change at that time and went with some called Harper Blanks. Never again. haha!
@airborne1940 an OD scarf or hankerchief. could be used for other reasons like a splint and what not. Didn't have a wool shirt yet so that's what i used to keep my neck warm.
@koji00017 I'm wearing it as a war trophy. We were following a german unit for a while and saw the guy get a lot of my friends. After getting him back I desided to to take it back to let the krauts know who not to mess with...or just make me a target.
@MsgtRowan420497 Heck yeah man!...I'm pretty much everywhere. I post a lot on different websites. You'll even eventually find a few pictures of me when you type in WWII soldier in google. haha!
Over the past 6 six years I have not had a single round failure when using Joe Swanson movie blanks. His stuff is good, although it's expensive nowadays. Atlantic Wall makes good ammo too, but after shipping they're almost the same price.
@Easy39th True about that. I bought their blanks all the time before I tried Harper's blanks. Let me tell you after I finish these last few en blocks at the march event, never again am I going to buy blanks from him unless I see a noticible increase in rate of fire.
With regards to the misfire... the problem is in the poorly-made blank rounds; the headspacing is all over the place. We bought ammo from Gary Harper too. I would say that 1/4 of the rounds our entire unit loaded that weekend failed to work, and we ended up with tons of jammed rifles throughout the event. Do not ever rent/buy from Harper. It's all crap.
@Easy39th Yeah man I mean besides that jam, he only time it really happened was at the start of the event. My rifle wouldn't even shoot durring the test fire. But yeah not buying from them any more. It's worth paying a little more to buy them online.
@dbratnickproductions I fired an M1 with my uncle mayb about a year or so ago. it was pretty funny actually, he warned me about the recoil, and of coarse i was a tough know it all, and shot it. after about 4-5 clips, i handed the M1 back to him and said, "I'm done" lol so like what stupidass1 said, its definatly a heavy recoil
