it's a joke because there's a really famous comic called "Ashita no Joe (Tomorrow's Joe)". Joe is a boxer and when he's knocked down, he gets an encouragement, "STAND JOE!" and that's what hide was doing to the drummer 'cause his name is Joe.
First he said to Joe:" Joe, please sit down." And Joe did as hide said without hesitation. But, no sooner had Joe sat than hide said to him again, but this time, like a master order his dog:" Rise, Joe."

i guess, it's more like "get up Joe!" rather than "stand". (the direct translation would be "stand up", but I think "get up" is more appropriate.
