god u fucking muay thai douchbags. ur like the bjj fighters from brazil. u must accept the fact that U CANT WIN EVERY TIME. whenever i come across a video where muay thai loses the thai fans flip out sayin "thats not muay thai" or "he's not from thai land". JESUS man the art doesnt matter its the fighter that matters. no art is greater than the other. in this case the sanda fighter was just better (and he was using pure sanda techniques). stop being so proud and arrogant for gods sake.
@elevat0r123 dude round house kicks are there in every martial art. so is knees to the mid section and face. just cause they have similar techniques doesnt mean one martial art ripped off another. we all have the same bodies so the techniques will become similar. so that was a sanda kick not muay thai.
sanda starts from communist party policy to have something that works so they get technique from Kungfu wresting Muaythai set up rules so that they will win everytime unless you knocked them out and began promoting by using so many ... ways as known in the business.
Old Sanda system called "Lei Tai" in 1900's before WW2.Both player must sign "Death Agreement".Besides kick, punch & throw...knee,elbow,headbutt,joint locking, wrist twisting,arm-elbow breaking, foot stomping, eye poking,throat-neck chopping, even claw in the groin were all allowed on "Lei Tai".It's totally no rules! The fight just ended up in 3 condition...1)Throw white towel for submission... 2)Knock out...3) Death. So don't ever compare Muay Thai with Sanda!
@youwlleetube dont have to be that old times now cuz muay thai also have death contract with burmese fighter they fight til dead or give up or get k.o do u know why muay thai fight with gloves nowday cuz 50-60 years ago alot of the fighter die in the ring
and in war there is no rules and dont compare sanda with muay thai cuz muay thai is good on 8 limb weapon
People won't go out of their way to make some dumb weird attacking move that doesn't work. If someone uses an attack that works and is found in another martial art, just because their the attacks looked similar, it doesn't mean they copied the attack from another martial art. Most probably, they used attacks similar to other martial arts because it works! Other people don't own your body!
different story when the big guns come out to play from thailand... most of the time they take on old or wash up thai fighters .. so they can say sanda better!!!
@TUKTUKSTUEY and P.S. yeah he got K.O. ed after a two year break in a fight he was dominating in with just kicks. He got caught by a lucky punch in the 5th round after kicking the shit outta smith, literally! he just had ring rust, thats all. it was 2 years u moron. Sanshou is a great style and it actually is more complete than muay thai. believe it or not
@JimmyPtheman comon now watered down muay thai? throws and takedowns arent the only thing sanda's got; side kicks, spinning bak kicks, high kicks, low kicks all different from muay thai. some technique are similar to muay thai becuz its effective but sanda is a whole different style. we can also say that boxing is water down kick boxing but then we wouldnt be right.

sanshou might not be THAT cool when comes on the ring, but i can tell u, it is ABSOLUTELY useful in real life situation, i practice sanshou myself so i have the right of speech on this subject
@ozswede74 so they cant really say sanda won can they now? since theyre using muay thai techniques.... lets just call it a really bad day for muay thai fighters...
@dss103 LOL other way round, Boxing uses Muay and Sanda punches. Not that it matters who came first, it really doesnt matter. It's who goes down first and who stays standing that matters. Remember that.
@spoonr47 Oh hell naw! Lol I know you didn't just say that. I usually don't get butt hurt over these things, but modern day boxing is obviously an influential part of basically every other art. Muay Thai didn't start out with ducking, proper hooks, and even a straight cross for that matter. Just Look at the old school Muay Thai and you'll see that the stance not only wouldn't allow effective punching, but with the hands up in that position there was really no way to defend properly as well.
sanshou/sanda is much older than muay thai. Go and study the chinese martial arts liberary. Sanshou/ Sanda came from different kung fu styles. You can make 100 of other similar styles of muay thai from those different styles of kung fu.
@fightinggymsweden I guess you missed the fact that sanda was developed by the chinese military (waaaaay after muay boran was developed). Sure, it has borrowed heavily from both traditional wushu and gungfu - so has most martial arts. But it was developed LATER than muay boran. You might also know that gungfu is said to have originally been developed from kalarippayattu by buddist monks going from India to China.
Sanda is the person in Red, hongfeng, once again, I looked into this fight, and the Chinese fighger happened to be way heavier than his opponent, it has to be like this as it is very hard for a sansho fighter to beat a nack muay. The KO was proper though
psych! 7 months later sum1 disagrees with u lol. sanda and muay thai are very similar to each other. that being said the win ratio on both sides in the ring are pretty much even.
thats true. and i personally like sanshou better but muay thai trains in knees and elbows more and its simplicity is wat gets the sanshou fighters sometimes. sanshou's more complete though cuz of throws. i still think its pretty even. they both have their ups (none of them have downs) :)

@nosmokingbaby not really. its just kung fu freestyle fighting. other kung fu systems have forms but not sanda, hence, 'kung fu freestyle fighting'

Isn't a head kick in TKD, Karate, Savate, etc. as well?
Before I studied the art, a punch was just like a punch, a kick just like a kick.
After I studied the art, a punch is no longer a punch, a kick no longer a kick.
Now that I understand the art, a punch is just like a punch, a kick just like a kick. --
