People misunderstand what a inner rotor kit is. It is a magneto, that uses a magnet as a rotor, and a pickup that sends voltage to the coil, and spark to the plug. Depending on where the timing is set (business card gap) will determine at what rpm the max spark is delivered. The cdi (rev box) is a programmed piece to curve the ignition (advance at higher rpm/make spark happen sooner) to make sure it retains optimum spark timing to 12,500rpm.
The proper tool to remove the Phillips head plate screws is an impact driver, this is a spring loaded hand tool you hit with a mallet. The impact in, and spring twist unlocks impossible screws you would otherwise strip. You can buy one from eBay with bits for ~$40. The business card gaps the pickup to a proper spot, no need to set crank position for the plate install. Also, the keyway on the crankshaft will keep the rotor where it needs to be.
i have a motovert expert 140cc, i bought a rotorkit a few days ago and the two screws on the spark plate, wont come out, it's impossible! please help! how should i do?
@TheAlexManVideos i heard that putting one of these on a pit bike engine will ruin your crank bearings because the engine becomes unbalanced because the clutch basket is still heavy and but the rotor is light which puts pressure on the one side of the crank is this true?
@jamesm060191 Nope. That makes no difference. Balance only matters on the plane perpendicular to the axis of rotation. Your car engine has a huge flywheel + clutch/torque converter on one side of the crank and only a pulley on the other. It makes no difference. But if you have a crank mounted clutch on your bike, the cast basket usually shatters in time.
@TheAlexManVideos if i put one of these on my 110cc pit bike engine will it destroy my engine and if so how long will it take to do so, thanks for the reply and love the videos.
@jamesm060191 I don't own a Chinese engine and don't like working on them. Because of the hard to source parts and difference in design I can't say what will or won't work on your engine. In general, however, a crank mounted clutch doesn't like inner rotor kits.
This is doing my head in my bike wont start iv brought an 88cc takegawa/kitaco honda engine with an inner rotor kit iv wired it all up right got a good spark new spark plug. Im kicking it over and it is kinda firing every now and again but the exhaust fumes are coming more out of the carb than the exhaust, where do you position the rotor, because there is an engraved line on the rotor and at the moment its horrizontal pointing to the head and not vertical pointing to the mark on the crank case.
bonjour a tous je voudrai maitre un rotor kitaco sur un 140cc je voudrai savoir si tu gagne en accel et si tu paire de la pointe merci de me repondre stp...........
I don't remember the wire colors., the kit should have come with instructions. It just plugs into the harness and grounds the system killing the spark.
The eBay IRK worked fine up to a certain RPM at which it would start cutting out like a rev limiter but very rough with backfiring and not at a high RPM. The Kitaco IRK works great at all RPM's. The symptoms I noticed on the eBay part don't happen to all the kits but I've heard other people report the same problem I was having.
I'm changing the kitaco rotor kit on my crf50 for a tokyo mods digital ignition, i'm guessing it will be a similar process as in the video, no need to re-adjust timing or anything?
Haha, no. It's just an overflow reservoir or catch can. In the case of an accident, gas from the carb vents will flow into the catch can instead of on the track. For supermoto and most on pavement racing it is required to prevent spills on the track which is very slippery.
Pretty much. You will need to trim off about 1/8 or 3/16 inches off the thread of the crank. This is because the crank is a bit longer and will rub on the left side cover if you don't cut it. Also, this will only allow you to run an IRK. To use a standard 12v ignition and flywheel, you'll need to replace the left case, and the shift shaft.
So for the IRK, a CRF50 crank with the threads cut 3/16" on the ignition side will work just fine.
TheAlexManVideos Another great video. Just one question is that a stock Crank? will it work on a older 6 volt engine without a newer Crank from a 12 volt motor?
The clutch is on the crank, not on the cam. I am aware that the cast clutch baskets can explode from RPM and fast RPM changes, it is for that reason that I use a billet machined and hard anodized clutch basket.
Like I said in the video, you can't mount it anywhere where it will vibrate. The vibrations at high RPM's make the ignition cut out. It's like a rev limiter at a low RPM and it sounds like shit. Just backfires.
Omfg i need to get a 100 in mine, that thing riped so bad there, did you wheelie that down the road, looked like it
My kitaco stator plate is such a bitch to fit flush, had to hammer mine in plance, and then when you need to take it off....well......dont go there lol

Does it matter what position the crankshaft is in when you install the Rotor kit?
Like ignition or exhaust timing? And what shall the Trigger be in for a position?
Full up or full down?
Please respond! :)

OEM is Original Equipment Manufacturer. So OEM parts for the engine are Honda but OEM tires would be IRC.

This doesn't raise the redline, the engine just gets to the same redline quicker.

would this inner rotor make a big defference on the stock engine?

It works the same on any engine. It just makes the revs rise and fall faster. Doesn't increase power.

TheAlexManVideos is this bike a 84? I have a 84 engine and am wondering what 12 volt crank is the best to use to convert from 6 volt.

mike4479 2 years ago
CRF50 crank is identical except for flywheel taper. It will work to use an IRK on your 84.
TheAlexManVideos 2 years ago
Ah ok thanks. I think I understand now. I need a newer crank with a different tapper to use the IRK on a 84 correct?
Thanks

mike4479 2 years ago
Pretty much. You will need to trim off about 1/8 or 3/16 inches off the thread of the crank. This is because the crank is a bit longer and will rub on the left side cover if you don't cut it.
