@richandshirl I just thought... if you never lost a fish its good! Then you had luck! Althought i had dug more deep I find it is a very nice pond! with very nice fish in it!
My grandad built one like this years ago but never used a liner the concrete was waterproof enough and he kept his golfish and koi very well in there for years never tested the water for lime/amonia etc but all i know is the fish and plants thrived in there a few years later he made me a smaller version about 7 feet long 2 feet deep again just bricks and cement no liner....
I think you did great. That was my plan, although on a smaller scale, but it proved to be to expensive for all the blocks, etc. I'm just going to dig a hole but have the a foot or two above ground using the blocks. Someone mentioned 4feet being shallow for Koi? I thought that was a great depth. Way better than 2 feet right? Mine's going to be 4 feet.
@stantonporsche It's a bit hard to explain but it's just like wrapping a gift in paper, except it's inside out. As already mentioned, fold it up against the wall.
@lynda46 well its been there 3yrs ,all levels perfect i.e ammonia ,nitrite etc never lost a fish ,and alls awsome,as for the carpet ,if you watch i also used the proper underlay that came with liner.
there some really good info on the net saying that you don tneed lots of depth in a pond to grow large fish. Go do some more reading instead of posting silly things like that.
Great pond build!! how many litres all up is that ?
@lynda46 Depends on the ground! I had carpeted underlay for ten years on sandy ground and was still perfect when I took apart to enlarge! Nice pond mate
Wow great job...and you did it yourself!!! I like a natural looking pond but looks like you have space issues. You get the size and depth in a controlled space...great job!
Hi i'm making a concrete pond and i wanted to know what do you use to stick the liner to the concrete and why your corners are so perfect without wrinkles?
Nice pond, but hope you put some plants in it like lilies because it provides the koi with a spot to get out of the sun and in my opinion looks more like a pond as opposed to a swimming pool
oh crood i actually thought u werent gonna comment back..thnx..well im barely 15 and so i got long ways to plan..i have already done my house plan and now working on outside.
Great job man you are an inspiration to all of us who planning to do something like that !!! I can do everything you did but for me is really hard to do the plumbing who teach you that part ? what the water pump do ?
nice pond.how big is it?and how deep?is the filter you are using doing a good job. i am hopeing to start mine in 3 weeks time, and seeing your's have given me some ideas.have you any building experience?once again well done.
if you dont mind me asking, what fish do you have in the pond? you did all the labour yourself? and im guessing this cost a sizable chunk of money eh?

hi what is the 1st layer you put in the pond before the pond liner? it looks like plastic bag? after the carpets and before the Liner.
