i saw this on Pbs in 1989 I believe ,I was 13,.I thought when I first saw the white witch,I thought she old woman,then when the other narnia ,the movie came out over here,I found this bbc version again in our local library,I began watching it,I came to realization,The more I watched The finer The white witch became,Its funny at 13 I thought she was ugly as hell, when I grew up,I thought the exact opposite,what fine looking woman,the make up,makes her sexier,IMO

Ms. Kellerman, we love your portrayal of the white witch - it is excellent. Your range and acting and credibility are outstanding. You do have plenty of fans in the US. And we are people who know theater and film. Thank you for your contribution to the arts.

Barbara, you are one of my acting influences. I just love your portrayal as the White Witch. It is far better than Tilda Swinton's. You should do some Broadway and West End shows one of these days.

I have this movie but hate it. And I dont think C.S. Lewis wouldv'e been too fond of it either. The acting isnt bad.....but the cartoon creatures and Aslan are just unbearable. Good thing we have the more modern ones

Like I said, the acting(mainly the witch) is pretty good. But the Cartoons just dont go well with me. I know it was the 80's and everything. but thats just my opinion. I prefer the modern Movies. she's the best white witch in my opinion; she has the temper the look (i never pictured jadis as a blonde) + the camera angles make her look reeeeaaaally tall

I have been a huge reader and fan since 1974 of the narnia chronicles...honestly...the barbara kellerman jadis is far closer to the books magicians nephew and lion witch wardrobe...that does not mean I dislike tilda swinton's version...(but hers is more like star treks borg queen alice kriege or tolkien-like)...im happy these movies were ever even made! I doubted they ever would be!

Sorry but... though this version of the witch had its charm... it does not compare to Tilda's white witch..... not by a long shot... Tilda's witch... is cold... calculating... and well portrayed... her duel with Peter at the end is excellent... she doesn't speak at all... just surveys him with deadly intent... i like this cause in her mind... he is as good as dead

Personally, and I see a lot of people like Barbara Kellerman better than Tilda Swinton, I think that Barbara is a little overdone, which is what the witch is like in the books, so it's more canon, but I think it's so much more terrifying to have a quiet villian. I'm not saying that eather actress did a bad job, they just approached the character differently, and I think Tilda's appraoch is more scary and witch-like.

Someone mentioned the parallel between Lady Macbeth and the White Witch - I see it too, and I have to agree with the other comments that Barbara's portrayal of the witch is the closest to evil that I can imagine. I don't understand the hype over Tilda Swinton - she certainly looks the part but lacks the passionate fury followed by icy calm that this white witch inhabits. In short, when I was a child, and even today, I completely believe she is a witch whenever I watch her.

Barbara Kellerman is a really good actress and put's so much expression into her acting that it's fantastic! I'm really think she could be a Dame! But first maybe she'd need to be in more stuff!

Just like that Komodo guy from Warriors of Virtue - absolutely INGENIOUS overacting, but cartoony overacting nonetheless. Not that it damaged the movie in any way ;)
