@MasterTheMikeMe If you read the lore, the Emperor bowed to the Aldmeri Dominion at the point of a blade, making the Empire Bitch made, at least Ulfric Stormcloak has the balls to defend his land at anycost, he realises the Empire is being controlled by the Aldmeri Dominion, therefor making the Empire an Enemy. Mind you, this day in skyrim is about 100-180 years after the Oblivion Crisis. A lot has changed. I'd rather die for what i believe in then die because of an Arrow to the Knee.

Read about the Great war, find out what happened and realize that Titus Mede signed the treaty in order to buy some time to recover and get stronger so they can crush the Aldmeri Dominion. Thalmor sympathisers? again the lore says otherwise. Only a united Tamriel can possibly defeat the Aldmeri and an independant Skyrim would easily be crushed if they fought alone. Face it, Skyrim needs the Empire as much as it needs Skyrim.

@marineninga i know alot of lore in the Elder Scrolls series but its just like FNV; no factions are all purely good like the Imperials disbanded talos worship and gave those damn magical, pointy eared pussies free reign to stomp out Talos, but they do keep the dominion distracted and the Stormcloaks are Renegades but they support Talos and also its quite possible they could fight the Aldmeri Dominion, they have allies in Hammerfell

@jakascott21 Comparing factions to another franchise doesn't show me your in depth knowledge of the lore universe. Think of the ban as a small temporary sacrifice that the Nords just simply took it too personally. Even if the stormcloaks post civil war allied with the redguards, they would be way too weak to take on the aldmeri dominion. It would take everyone left in Skyrim in a unified assault against the dominion to not only defeat them, but to restore peace to Tamriel.

Then you would want to side with the Empire, No matter how many Stormcloaks claim that the Empire itself is abandoning Talos he will always be stubbornly worshipped as a Divine throughout the Empire. Every single Imperial soldier still worships Talos as a Divine and resent the Thalmor just as much as the Stromcloaks. All Stormcloaks want now is a 'Skyrim only for Nords' and that is the real threat of the Empire since it was Nordic and Imperial blood that built and maintained the Empire

The Empire nor Aldmeri Dominion at the end of the great war where in any kind of shape to mount any offense or defense. With that in mind an armistice ended the stalemate. There is no alliances between the Aldmeri Dominion and the Empire of Tamriel, just a condition from the armistice that lets the Thalmor hunt Talos worshippers outside of the Aldmeri Dominion Borders. The war is anything but over.
