  • I was drilling out a piece of steel once... The cord wrapped around the chuck and shorted out. My hand was on the back part of the drill which was metal. No matter how hard i tried i could not let go. The wife just happen to come in and tripped over the cord unplugging it and splashing me with the water bottle she was carrying.

  • i was shocked by 120 volts directly from the outlet itself unplugging a charger cord it hurt real bad and my right eye was blurry O.o but i was perfectly fine i didnt have a mark on me

  • HA HA ha.

    it's Korean level.

  • You mean tv breaker man?

  • He runned the tv noooo D:

  • that happens when you don't know what u r doing.

  • it looks like when he pushed the probe down hard, the pcb or chassis frame shorted to something underneath it..probably a cap!

  • SO did you get a new tv? cuz he prolly made the tv more broke?

    Funny video btw

  • whts the name of the song :D

  • Slant eye shorted pins on IC you are screwed now he no pay you pay ha ha

  • If it wasn't broken, he fried it now. You dont work on electronic equipment laying on the carpet. Didn't that guy never heard of static electricity? Oh My God

  • tv is probobally fried now if it wasn't before

  • ,,,,, My name is Eddy (8) (Man Making a shortcut) CHIJ CHIJ CHIIWWWGGHHHH ♪ ♫♪ ♫ Yawalalalaiii ♪ ♫♪ ♫

  • watch the board as he checks it he pushes down so hard it touches the back of the tv lmao idiot

  • if he was checking for continuity across the capacitors, you have to make sure they are discharged. Capacitor can hold power long after the unit is even unplugged.

  • If you notice before the shock he changes the multimeter function, probably to amps.If u try to measure amps you must have really steady hands or else...

  • oops i found the short lol

  • The service man died shortly after...

  • service apt for herniated disc ?

advice for those trying to repair themselves and inexperienced.

  • He didn't get shocked. He pushed the board down and made ground with the caps.

  • lol I like the anticipation. I feel for both you guys, samsungs suck. mine has so many problems that are common with typical shamsung problems, I'm finally going to replace it and I can't wait to smash it into piece, office space style

  • dip shitter

  • I work in the same field. If I came to someone's house and they started video recording, I would just leave. I have better things to do than star in someone's youtube video.

  • @OriginalMergatroid good thing my house has1080 cameras mounted threwout the inside and out. so you wouldnt know.

but if you have a tech come in sure record them what if they shock then it catches fire. or whtvr.

Great idea to record the service people..*but i wouldnt tell them i am..)

  • @tlordon In a court of law recorded media of any type is considered tantrum art of the truth and is admissible as evidence in a court of law, however you must tell them "im recording this call" or "im filming this repair to ensure quality" or else it could be dismissed ad entrapment. Just some friendly advice. It also depends on the reason and fashion of the recording. Someone breaking into your home or car is different or committing a crime. But something like this could be throw out of court.

  • @iLLUMiNATiONRECORDz I'm not sure this is accurate information. Some states are single party notification states and some are two party where you MUST tell the other side you are recording them. And I'm not aware of the law if you're in your own dwelling, if it matters or not.

  • @OriginalMergatroid Hey man, how did you get into this field? Did you need an associates degree in electronics? I'm fascinated by electronics, and am a former computer technician looking to get into this field. Thanks man

  • How many transformers does an LCD need!!! Looks like a power supply lol.

  • Fuck it! That shat was funny!!!

  • He didn't get shocked , just shorted two points together. He needs to make up a different probes, ones that are insulated all the down with the exception of the last two or three millimeters at the tips. Don't need to spend big bucks, just use a standard set and insulate most of the metal probe with some heat shrink tubing.

  • I really think it was really wrong to post this, it happens to us all! Ive gotten shocked as well, but you dont see me making a huge deal about it...

  • I think he may have shorted 2 points with his probe (like if you are testing a transistor leg and the point of the probe slips in between 2 of the legs and shorts em out)

  • he did not get shocked , much less electrocuted. Electrocution means death. ELEC trical exe CUTION. What happened is that the meter was probably mistakenly set to measure amps which would present a dead short across the power supply and hence the arc and sparking sound. he was simply startled by the sound.

Plus the set was probably toast afterwards.

  • Sounded like he was checking for continuity, which you should NOT do while there is power to the TV, could fry the multimeter

  • @astriknon fck his multimeter. what about the guys tv lmao

  • @astriknon ??? i don't understand . if he's checking volts you need power, resistance no, amperage you need power, just be careful if you're hooking up the amp meter in series, not parallel . he was probably a noob and had in leads on the multimeter hooked up wrong lol

  • @iGaRaai90 You are correct that you do need power to check for voltage and for current, you don't need, and cannot have voltage to check for continuity. The continuity check just makes sure that the circut between two points is actually connected.

  • Did the multimeter get fried? =)

  • This is why you should unplug it first. BTW i have the same remote.

  • @coms758 not always... the majority of repairs need to be made while the system is on since that nearly all components does not visually indicate if they are faulty or not. So the system need to be switched on to see how the circuits are working. Just as this guy was doing.

  • I didn't know that the electricity could fin'd it's ground path through the plastic like that. The only electrocutions I have suffered were as a result of touching uninsulated, live wires.

  • isn't the bigger question "why is someone recording a tv repairman?" A little weird.

  • @tvguy761 so he can sue him if he fucks up.

  • @tvguy761 if he aint filming you aint watching

  • defendingthekingdom, i'm attempting to replace the color wheel on my DLP rear projector TV. there's some mean looking caps blocking my way. the TV is unplugged (has been for 2 days.) i'm freaked out about even going in there and touching stuff. don't have a multimeter (too damn poor, the color wheel was like 100 dollars haha) what precautions or actions would you suggest for me to make sure it's safe to get in there?

  • I think the high impedance in his multimeter failed. must had a cheap meter

  • Never put the multimeter on top!! There's usually a small screw on the bottom of them that can attract electrons!

  • my thoughts exactly bigsabmusic.. he touched the + & - like a fool.. Easy to do yet still an amateur mistake.

  • I suggest that everyone who has a broken Samsung tv, return it to the U.S. headquarters in Ridgefield, NJ. I think they might get the idea that they have a faulty product if they are inundated with the actual faulty product.

  • Did he let out the magic smoke? I've done some of these Samsung jobs, you're not supposed to go out in jeans and a tshirt. LOL.

  • Expert? I don't think so just another who wants a job

  • Made in china what else can you expect

  • no the lcd not use high voltage > he use funcition voltemeter wrong

  • I have to tell you, you're a real jerk for posting this the way you did. He's trying to help you with your problem, and live voltage tests are necessary. Anyone can slip and make an arc even without touching the wrong source (electricity can "jump"). In the end I'm sure your TV got fixed, but you have to cast aspersions in response.

  • I saw that comming a mile away what a DIPSHIT

  • @popsbuilt since you saw it a mile away looking closely at the chassic you can see all the components pop straight up. Does this mean he just bought a TV?

  • It's a very stupid man, measuring and control device must be kept on the Volt, he held the instrument set on the diode. You need to know some electronics, if you do not know, call a specialist.

  • Comment removed

  • Um... 1) You have to have it hot to find the problem (hence the voltmeter) you can't monitor voltages when theres no voltage to measure.

    2) I believe TVs and power supplies you do NOT want to ground yourself to the chasis because it poses an even greater risk of electrocution while working on them, since the voltages are much greater. Use only 1 hand, and never ground to the chasis.

  • What the hell was he doing? A continuity test to the big caps LOL

  • wheres the protection bracelet anyway :)?

  • TV has to be plugged in to find the problem

  • he just discharged one of the big caps.... no harm done

  • lol pushed a little to hard on that board.

  • oh hey ill just check the positive and negative while the power is on, no biggy....

    LOL

Sadly I did this when repairing a PSone :(.

  • Well there's your problem.

  • ROFLMAO I wonder how he fixed it for you at the end... probably had to pay you money to replace it or get a new one. xD

  • Asshole he shorted the powersupply out . Did he replace the set . I would never buy a Samsung . Someone gave me a broken set and i repaired it . It worked well for two years and had the same problem with HVPS so I threw it away and got a low end LG that has worked fine for 3 years now

  • He should be using a bench... This is why we never repair in customers houses anymore. I hope he knew u was filming tho, because I wouldn't have accepted that!... It sucks when u short something like that, it happens occasionally to me and scares the crap out of me... It's even worse then actually getting the zap because u look like an idiot lol.

  • to bloOmagi: I'm a Korean myself and its a very rude thing for anyone to walk into their house with shoes on.

well and glad I`m not korean, I thing it would be gross to somebody to go into your house without shoes and with fungus , and get that on your carpet, advice, get tile in your house and people can keep their shoes , how about that?

  • Lol hes just thinking damn now i need new trousers too

  • Why did he have it on the carpet in the first place!?

No way he's fixing my T.V.!

  • @defendingthekingdom lol. Hes Korean thats why. I'm a Korean myself and its a very rude thing for anyone to walk into their house with shoes on. On the other side i was surprised when i went to a white person's house and they have their shoes on. Most Asian cultures are like that. They want to be very clean and mannered as possible. I think its better if we understand each others cultures.

  • @blo0magic Thank you for the information.

  • The manufacturer told me which certified repair service to call to diagnose why my 42" plasma TV, that was 7 months past its 1 year warranty, had no picture. The repairman comes, takes off the back panel, and reaches toward or touches a part and a large blue-ish jolt of electricty jumps an inch or so to his hand. He said it was a capacitor. I asked if that wrecked the whole system, and he said "no".

Did it? He then said I needed a new main printed circuit board at a cost of over $500.

  • @surfsnook More likely you can just replace the caps. There are hundreds of videos on how to do it. It'll take you an hour and cost you less than $5.

  • @ubuntututorials Thank you for responding. By "caps', do you mean capacitors? It is so upsetting...we buy the Panasonic 42" plasma TV for $1500, it goes out 1 year and 7 months later, repairman comes, excites a flash of electricity between his finger and it, tells me it will be $500 to fix it, charges me $90 for the visit, and then he leaves. I will try whatever you say and thanks again, friend.

  • @surfsnook I don't have a Panasonic TV, so I can't guide you myself. However, someone has done something very similar to repair their TV. I highly recommend you view their guide:

    youtube.com/watch?v=Mm51C_RDIZE&feature=related

  • you had your camera on so couldn't concentrate

  • dumb ass

  • I can understand him taking off his shoes so as not to dirty the carpet, but the meter is beeping, which means he is doing a continuity check, which you never do with power applied. Also dont video the repair guy. He may become nervous and blow something up.

  • @kevykev38 I agree, i think it's not a tech too because i'm one and we are not allowed to take off our shoes, we have foot covers for that. But fyi if a cam is put on me, I would call my boss before i proceed, that would piss me off. Being a tech you need to focus.

  • Why is he doing a continuity test with the power on? That may be the reason for the short.

  • @kevykev38 in the UK they all take there shoes off, or put them silly bags on these feet so there not getting mud everywhere

  • Sorry, but your title is wrong. He didn't get shocked. But he did short out the power supply, making a spark.

I've been shocked many times, and I know it when I see it.

  • I like this video!! he is very cute :)

  • That just made me laugh, loved your comment at the end about your TV. Brilliant!

    Hello from England :-)

  • @Bevoin1970 Cheers from the USA!

  • he blew out something...not sure what he did. But it's very easy to destroy these transistor sets. I worked on vacuum tube tvs years ago..they were very rugged and hard to destroy...not so with today's sets.

  • @defendingthekingdom Why did he have to fix your TV. Was it because it would click for hours and hours before it turned on? That's what my Samsung TV does.

  • @wastnTIMEwastnTIME , i have a samsung 40" lcd tv i forget what series mite be 6 or 7, its round 7months old and havnt heard any clicking noises, after reading up and searching it seems alot of people have had the clicking problem after the warranty has expired some even before, do you have any advice for me???

  • @MrAussiebogan At 7 months I thought I had the best TV in the world. It started after a year and a half to 2 years. If u search you tube people have uploaded some videos of their tv not turning on. I would say just dont think about having problems with your TV unless it happens. If it does start giving you problems, their is a video on you tube that tells you how to fix it. You need a soldering iron. I just dont turn my tv off anymore. Im gonna buy a 3d TV pretty soon, not Samsumg! :-D

  • @wastnTIMEwastnTIME oh ok, i was only just at a store today looking at the 3d tvs on display, it was funny i saw the store person with a group of people looking and telling them about the new samsung series 7, 55" 3d tv, i was like to myself enjoy suckers..... i put the glasses on and i was like wow the picture jumps out at you any way thanks 4 the advice.

  • @MrAussiebogan My advice is to call Samsung and tell them you have a TV that is out of warranty and you need a service person to come out and look at it. If the service technician looks at the TV and determines it will cost too much to be worth fixing, he/she may ask Samsung to give you a new TV for a greatly reducted price and they will pick-up your old TV at the same time. That's what they did for me. I only had to pay the $100.00 Technician's fee and $250.00 for the new TV.

  • @defendingthekingdom I have a Philips CRT tv and the screen shrunk to less than half the size it was accompanied by a strong electrical smoke smell. Is this the tube burning out or a capacitor do you think?

  • @defendingthekingdom i had a sharp tv an the light went on on it an the only thing it would do is blink red so i called the sharp companey an they could never fix it so i got a new tv for free!! lol an i got new remote an power choard for free witch i wrote on the paper i already had they jus gave them to me for free i guess or idk why dey did that how much would the 37 in lcd screen would cost to repair??

  • @defendingthekingdom

Thank you for your tip, my tv is out of warranty also, i just called Samsung and schedule a technincian to take a look at it. Is going to take about two days for them to contact me. Hope this works. Was your a projection tv. Mine is a HCN4226W

  • @wastnTIMEwastnTIME I think it did click, but not exactly sure as its been about a year. I think when I tried turning on the TV it would just be a black screen.

  • Why the repair man needed the LCD TV damn cord plugged away while repairing? Don't fix the TV in carpet because it has a static electricity and the damn cord plugged away!

  • I think he DON´T get any electric shock to his hands but only short-circuiting something and scare up himself by flash and bang!

  • wtf is with that song ?

  • lol! what is the song?

  • @juansec5 The song is the theme song to a cartoon called "Awesome Town".

  • YOU DON'T PUT YOUR ELECTRONICS ON THE CARPET,,,SUCH AS COMPUTERS ETC.. HAS Static electricity

  • yeah .....................TV REPAIR MAN

  • really have to pay attention to what you are doing, you can blow out a set and then you are in trouble.

The worse shock I ever saw was when my co worker was fixing a microware oven. There are high voltage capacitors inside and he forgot to discharge them. He touched one and pow, he was standing up at the time, well the shock threw him up agaisnt the wall !!!

    lucky he was not hurt.

  • Dumbass lol

  • he so dumb he did a continuity test then tried to test the volgtage on the wrong setting!!!!!!

  • very bad tech .lol

  • Comment removed

  • @BIGSABMUSIC cant you see hes checking voltage

  • He just touched 2 pins and made some small short cut, nothing scary if he didnt blow up the transformer or some integral :-)

  • @BIGSABMUSIC Voltage Test SMPS m8.He must have not been paying attention.Probably smoked crack that day.Made Alot of Mistakes :D

  • @mickeygovender voltage test?sound like to me he was doing continuity test with the power on ,thats why the meter beeped when he did the first test.he did'nt know what he was doing

  • Poor Meter.Probably a Fluke As Well

  • @BIGSABMUSIC Because you can't measure signals and voltages without the TV being switched on.

  • @BIGSABMUSIC

even if it is not plug you can get killed .

some component can keep LARGE amount of power in them , even for weeks .

  • @BIGSABMUSIC he had a voltmeter, so i think he was seeing which parts weren't letting electrical currents thru (thus, which is broken)

  • @BIGSABMUSIC It was probably a power related issue, and the yellow box is a volt meter. He was likely trying to get it to power on and display the screen correctly. :-)

  • @BIGSABMUSIC you have to have it plugged up when checking the resistance or compacitor. it looks like when he was checking the board he touched the positive and the negitive at the same time. so he was doing it correctly but im sure he was trying to hurry though it and fucked it up more

  • @BIGSABMUSIC i think he was doing live testing with a multimeter.

  • @BIGSABMUSIC

So he could check voltage rails lame brain

  • and a comment about fixing a TV part thats B shit you dont fix a TV part thats will fail fix it after it fail or brake dont fix nothing in electronics if it dont need fixing DONT FIX IT!!!! now you out a TV you shuld of left it alone it was working that all it matters...

  • The repair man suggested fixing the additional part (which he said would probably go out soon also). He wasn't sure how long before it would go out, could have been one day or one year. A decision had to be made on the spot. When he attempted to fix the additional part and ruined the TV, it forced him to have to tell Samsung that the TV would cost too much to fix. Because of this, I got a brand new TV for $250.00. So, actually it was lucky for me that he messed it up. So, I won in the end.

  • oh shit that sounded powerful

  • defendingthekindom, he didn't get shocked.

What happened is he pushed too hard on the meter probe nn that Fluke. It bent the PCB down and it grounded (Hence a short) He jumped from the bang.

That TV repair guy ultimately damaged that TV. You should be compensated for his mistake. Id make that company fix the TV or take them to court.

  • Thanks for your insight. Because he damaged the TV for good after screwing up the job, he had to tell Samsung that the TV would cost too much to fix so Samsung made me an offer to buy back the TV. So, ultimately I only had to pay $250.00 for a new TV plus the $100.00 consulting fee for the technician. Keep in mind, all of this was done while the TV was 2 years out of warranty. So, it worked out in my favor in the end.

  • @defendingthekingdom in that case NEW V WIN =D

  • @funkawitz Nah what happened is that he had the TV plugged in so I guess he was trying to read voltage and he had his meter set to read resitsance thus causing a short...to read voltage you have to reset the meter to the appropriate DC range.

  • Yeah, he turned the TV on, then started using his meter for continuity checks. This was wrong since resistance and continuity checks are done with TV power OFF otherwise you damage either the meter or the circuit you are checking. He no doubt blew something on the TV. Be careful when calling for TV service. A lot of computer techs are doubling as TV techs these days.

  • @bobk1951

Looking at the video again, first he did a continuity check, then changed the meter mode to something elsethen caused the short. Maybe he was trying to select a AC/DC voltage mode but picked the wrong one :P.

  • great video yea ok.

  • was your tv under warranty? my 42" TV's screen shuts right off after I turn it on, don't know what the problem is...

  • No, my TV was out of warranty. What you can do is call the Samsung TV repair 1800 number (check their website for the contact #) and thell them what the tv is doing. They may then refer you to your local authorized Samsung repair company. In Dallas, Texas that company is called "Nisi". So, then you schedule a date and time with the repair folks to come out and give you a quote. It's usually a $100.00 for the quote + additional money for parts "only" if you ask them to fix it.

  • In addition, if the service repair technician finds that the TV is going to cost too much to be worth actually repairing than they may tell samsung (for you) that samsung should make you an offer and buy back the tv and give you a new one. I did this, even though my tv was 2 years out of warranty. Remember though, the service technician has to look at your TV first before he/she can make that determination for samsung. So, you would be looking at a minimum cost of $100.00 for this.

  • how much did the tv repair cost?"?

because im taking in my 32inch samsung lcd Tv thursday to a repair shop and pickin it up by the end of the day.

  • They were going to charge me $100.00 plus parts to come out and fix the TV. He got the TV working and it was only going to cost another approx. $100.00 for that additional part. So, It was going to be $200.00 total. However, he than suggested I pay another 200.00 to repair another part which may go out soon. So now it was going to be like 400.00. I was ok with that because the TV was out of warranty. However, when he tried fixing the other part, he ruined the whole TV.

  • Once he ruined the TV by trying to fix the other part, which wasn't bad yet he told me it was now going to be too costly to fix the rest of the TV. Because of his blunder, he wrote notes into the Samsung Authorized Repair Person's website saying the TV would cost to much to be worth fixing. He then instructed me to call the Samsung main number the next day and ask them to buy back the TV and offer me a 2009 model same size for discounted price. I did, and they shipped me a new TV for $250.00.

  • So, in the end I ended up paying a total of only $350.00 for a brand new 2009 model 1080P 46inch Samsung HD TV. 100.00 for repair consultation and 250.00 for new TV. Samsung did this even though my original TV was a 2006 model 720p HD 46" had no extended warranty & my factory warranty had expired 2 years prior. I never knew Samsung would sell me a new TV for such a low price (out of warranty). Keep in mind though, when they dropped off the new TV I had to give them my old one for free.

  • Good time to unplug it.

  • he didnt get shock! its that he was using the DVM in continuity and he blew it when he touched a high voltaje. hes not a technicia, i bet he didnt fix the tv at all

  • plz tell me the name of the song

  • "Awesometown" cartoon theme song

  • haha. what the hell is that song?

  • "Awesometown" cartoon theme song

  • the insolated probes were slit open and he stuck somthing in the crack and thats why he get electricuted!!!!! DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • he was using insulated probes.

jesus, how did he get zapped?

  • ...I think he was more surprised than anything.

  • "I think I found the problem"

  • Love the way he moved the printed circuit board around on tha carpet with no ESD protection--very professional!

  • power supply went pufffffff been there done that. cheap peice of junk these days.
