  • Ksenia Semenova is the new '09 euro champ, unfourtunatly, she had a terrible fall on UB at 09 worlds AA

  • one of my favorite podiums this year

  • Whats the different between an arabian double pike and an arabian double tuck dismount?

  • You know, Ksenia should really be receiving a stiff penalty for her dismount (downgrade it to a tucked arabian).

I have to admit that she could totally work that Tkatchev to full combo a bit more. I'd like to see her do Tkatchev from the other direction to full to Tkatchev to Pak. That would be killer.

  • i think she gets all credit because she does it in pike position 3/4 of the full skill. Honestly for the safety of her knees I don't mind the early tuck.

  • No way. She does the first salto in pike, and the second salto in tuck. Watch the replay.

  • They are not going to discount her. The judges do not expect her to land with her knees locked.

  • 1. they did devalue the dismount at this particular meet

    2. watch Li Ya who does the same dismount and she can hold the pike very well

    3. if the judging in stuttgart was fair, they wud have devalued it then too, cause she tucked it just as much there. she wud have lost 2 tenths and wud have been off the podium : )

  • LOL that you would bring up Li YA. I looked at two videos one from a world cup and one from the world cup final in Brazil, she bends her leg on both and even worse than Semyonovao on the video from world cup final!

  • okey fine, even tho i havent watched those yet but usually for other front piking elements in gymnastics, ppl dont excessively tuck their legs

  • They do not expect that her legs should be locked on landing...

BUT her double pike arabian was AMAZINGLY disgusting...

Because she went into a tucked double arabian on her second salto, that would mean her double arabian pike would be de-valued. Plus, she should receive a .3 to .5 deduction for the bent legs.

I can understand that a gymnast will bend her knees SLIGHTLY for the landing; but she tucked way too much for it to be for her landing. For that reason, it would be de-valued...

  • I agree she should be credited for the double arabian tucked, as there is no way her knees need to bend that early or severely (doubters just watch Sacramone or any Chinese girl do a fwd pike on beam - there is virtually NO perceptible bending of the knees). But why would they deduct for bent legs on a tucked skill? It's not like she has to turn in what she plans to perform beforehand or anything. Don't they just judge it as they see it?

  • If Stela could improve her B score, she'd be right there with the leaders of the pack. Nice routine, though, except for those bloody form breaks.

  • 7.3 difficulty!!!! and that's mostly from releases not pirouettes (which is how chinese gymnasts and Liukin get bonus points). But she has untidy form on some elements and collects too many deductions. Loving to see her progress in every competition!

  • Is Stela's a 7.3?? Thats pretty good. Ksenia's is a 7.6 here isnt it? I know that Ksenia can join the Deltchev to the Pak salto would that take her up to a 7.8? Who has the most difficulty in the world at the moment? Is it He Kexin?

  • 7.3 for steliana, as for Ksenia it's not a 7.6 don't know how you count, it was actually 7.0 at this competition. Although she had 0.3 less on her A score, she scored 0.4 more on her execution B score. By the way, connecting the deltchev to the pak is only a +0.1 CV, as they are both D elements.

Who has the most difficulty? hard to say, Liukin did a 7.8 and is working on increasing more, He Kexin too, some Korean girl has 8.3 but PRK can only send 2 girls to Beijing so sending Jong sisters

  • I was thinking maybe Ksenia wasnt deducted on her handstands: she looked to be within 30 degrees on all of them. Wow, who does the 8.3 routine???? I would love to see the composition of that!

  • what? no, no no no no you're getting this whole gymnastics thing wrong. Deductions for not reaching handstands and such things have no consequence on the difficulty score, rather the execution score...

ever thought of reading the code of points? Do it! your life will be better... PEACE!

  • Erm, I have been following gymnastics for practically all of my 42 years, so I think I know a little bit about it:) I realised my mistake after I posted the comment: I know the start value is affected only if the elements included in the composition are not completed for whatever reason, then the start value comes down if a gymnast fails to complete an element. I would love to know who does the routine with the 8.3 start value, and which elements it contains though.

  • I KNOW about the deductions for things like handstands affecting only the execution score, thank you very much!!I was just wondering if she was deducted on them, thats all. What was her execution score, as its not shown here?

  • semenova has beautiful handstand, i am waiting for her to upgrade her routine. she could rock Beijing games with that 7.8 routine

  • steliana was so much better...but i gues the judges are used with the romanians not being good in bars:(

  • actually, ksenia's routine was much better, her execution, her releases etc, but nistor is improving and it would be nice to see her medal at the olympics. i'm still trying to figure out how nistor could get higher A score than Ksenia. Can someone help me?

  • Ironically enough, Nistor's A score here was higher than Semenova's. It's the B score that's dragging her down.
