A 5.3 Gasser vs a 6.6 Turbo Diesel. What are you smokin crack? I love my chevy's and I loved my Vortech max(6.0 1500 w/ whipple twin screw) but a truck that makes 260whp and 320wtq vs 320whp and 575wtq is not much of a fair match. Preload both trucks and the 5.3 would fall even more short. Now take that 5.3 and put it against a Hemi. I love watchin the dodge boys cry they got beat by a standard chevy 5.3

@bballman345 The dealership that i went to only had a gas powered 2500, and they weren't offering good incentives on the 6.2L I ultimately wound up getting a 5.3L. I figured that this truck could never match the performance of my vette, so why try. On top of that the gas mileage of the 5.3 tops all other truck engines in chevy's line-up (aside from the hybrid).

@VSUPARHAM mileage on a D-max is way better than any other chevy v8 even when towing. i have both diesel and gas chevys. BTW put about $2500 into the diesel and you get the joy of not only beating almost any gas truck but blowing black smoke all over them when you blow past!!:D

powerstrokes kicked ass from 1994-2003 (7.3s) cummins fricken rocked out all through the 5.9 ages. duramax rocked out only in the 6.6's thats it. other than that they all have problems. fords blow head gaskets or are just plain a pain in the ass to work on, chevies used to be nutless oily asses dodges ( as we all know) have good motors and bad trannys/ bodies. so you can bash them all if you look at the right stuff. just dont bash them if you dont have the facts

The 2008 duramax is by far the fastest and hands down the most torque on the market(stock) I have a 2008 duramax and can do 0-100 in about 5-6 seconds. So the dude with the gas engine that kept up with the diesel i got to give him props, but if this was not a 1/4 mile race well say by to the gas vortec engine..

It was a 1/4 mile race. Not sure how your stock Dmax goes 100 in 6 seconds. That stock Dmax only hit 80mph with a trap of approx 16 sec. That'd mean your truck was doing 0-60 in like 2 seconds. Haven't seen GM advertising that model yet...
