Don't give a shit to those hipsters opinions about who stealed what. Moby and Led were highly talented bands. In the end those who win are us, because we received their work. Yet do we still complain?
what a pain in the ass it most be for page to have plant stealing words all the time (this one, whole lotta love etc), I mean page must have heard this track but I don't think that he ripped it of music-wise, more was inspired by it. And I can't blame him for that, great track
To all of you who think Led Zeppelin's take on this theme is better...Zeppelin's song was a constructed work, laid down and embellished upon in the studio track for track, this, by Moby Grape, is a studio jam...and for it's spontaneity and sheer depth of feeling way surpasses Zeppelin's effort...but then, it's really like comparing apples with oranges isn't it...both songs are classics...
Accepting that "since I've been loving you" comes undoubtely from here, it must be said that zeppelin's attempt on this idea is by far much better than moby grape's. In fact, listening to this shows what an incredible band led zeppelin was.
@polasco77 And really only the first few lines are taken out of the lyrics. and maybe an idea or two late ron. Either way, people discredit the fuck out of Zeppelin when a lot of people from the time did this lol.
So they did a better cover. look, its one thing to have this happen here and there, but there were to many direct rip offs by Zeppelin. I know, that these bands had to compete with the beatles and the stones, so there was enormous pressure, but really zeppelin went to far and should be exposed for things like that. The dazed and confused fiasco was direct and they stole someone's work and reworked it.
It wouldn't be too surprising given Robert Plant was a huge fan of West Coast rock at the time he joined the New Yardbirds. He was a huge fan of bands like Love and Moby Grape.
@polasco77 Listen to Miller's Blues live, and it shows how good this band could be live. Not saying they're Led Zeppelin, but they're no slouches......
@jurgengaas1 They didn't "sample" it. True, the lyrics are mostly the same (as are many blues songs), and the tempo and rhythm are similar (like a thousand other blues songs), but the tune is different. The vocal melody, dynamics, and instrumentalism are quite different.

By far "much better" than Moby Grape's? That's just your opinion...not fact.

and just want to point out, we're comparing music not poetry, though the lyrics are the same, the melody is fairly different and thats what music is

Even though the lyrics are WAY obviously stolen (oh, I'm sorry... sampled and reversed)... I'm gonna let this one go.
Even Jerry Miller (guitarist from Moby Grape, and a friend in Tacoma) said, "Hey. Like WE were never influenced ?"
He's a good dude. No probs.

Flat, boring and unerotic. I'll stick to Led Zep's.
