You realize a band is Great when you have not just the Top 50 songs by them - but the Top 50 songs Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4 - you get my drift! The word epic has somewhat come to lose it meaning in today's time, but with PT I can find no other word - EPIC!!!
Sever.... what a song! I have to agree... I look for other music to listen to, and just find myself listening to PT over and over for weeks and months on end.
listening to this makes you think of how amazing Porcupine Tree really is.. such a wide variety of uniquely amazing songs to choose from. easily my favourite band and the one I'll listen to the most for a long while.
I looked in your complete top 50 and I noticed that you have not included songs that are not in the main albums. I see a pattern in this... I suggest you listen to Buying New Soul, Drown With Me, Oceans Have No Memory, Revenant and Half-Light! You truly won't regret it. Porcupine Tree's songs are so good, even the b-sides make it to the Top 50 (!!).
My son is 15, I am 50 and we both listen to PT as much as we can. They are simply great! What is really interesting is that, at least in Miami, where we live, no radio station plays them. What the F...k is wrong with radio nowadays?! And don't worry much about the order, all 50 are great and, by the way, there are much more than 50!!
@jaimegenesis60 I'm gonna be honest dude, with the majority of modern radio being as shallow as it is today, it is highly unlikely that you'll find truly unique bands like Porcupine Tree being played on the radio just about anywhere. The only radio that I can think of that would be willing to play PT's music if at all would prob be like a station on XM. Just a personal theory really :\ but hey who cares? More for us, right? :)
whoever the hell has made this list....good effort...but I guess this kid has not listened to PT completely........"dont hate me" from stupid dream album needs to be in top 5 .....i have not heard so melodiuos combo of flute, saxophone, guitar and bass ever.....also harrioson....brilliant drumming in insignificance.....intermediate jesus and disloacted day is missed here.....I would request the kid to listen to them properly
sever cannot possibly be below 4 chords that made a million....and strip the soul is not in the top 50 either. I personally think you give too much credit to the Nil recurring era...at least in part 1 of the list.
Porcupine tree are one of those bands that dont need a top 50 to show how amazing they are. they have produced over 2 decades worth of pure, original music.and hold some of the greatest musicians to grace this earth:)
Sleep together so low on the list? You got to be kidding....the orchestral stuff in that song is brilliant and hell of a lot better then Three Cords That Made a Million atleast
Nice picks, man! I adore PT, one of my favourite bands ever. It's so hard to pick and choose favourites from such an overall superb body of work. But you've done a marvellous job editing together the best bits from all these selected songs! Kudos!
You know I love all the songs of them and I won't rank it like that :P Each song has its own beauty , signification and brings me different deep emotions ^^
I just ordered the new pt dvd in blu ray. Theres is alot of good stuff on it. ALOT OF GOOD STUFF! Sever, half light, and dark matter are 3 of the ones I was surprised they had on there, but I was very happy about it. Cant wait!
@RuiZKRuspe666 Are they not all masterpieces? In my opinion, this isnt a list of what songs are better than what, its a list which says "Heres a vast amount of absolutely genious tracks... But you knew that when you saw Porcupine Tree in the video title."
Top 50 thats funny, when most bands today have what maybe 3 songs worth listening to and PT has 50 and not just 50 but a top 50. My daughter says why do you listen to them so much and I say well I'm looking for someone else to listen to but not much of anything new out there worth listening to. Cool thing is she concurs.
@Thirdeye386 I do like Opeth, and I know SW produced an album of theirs, I just don't like the growling stuff so much, like the more mellow voice stuff better.
gavin does tht in start of something beutiful and the end of hatesong live on the arriving somewhere dvd its become my favorite fill ever! i so wanna learn how to tht!
Great you like it too! But you have to excuse me, I don't know the meaning of the term "tht", maybe because I'm not a drummer or maybe because my english sucks. ^_^

I think that it's unjust that Porcupine Tree didn't get the credit they deserve in the U.S.
In my opinion they are just as good as Pink Floyd if not better.
TheJake3 1 year ago
@TheJake3 Naw man Pink Floyd takes the cake. but PT are definately in my top 5.
and also slowy but surely they're getting noticed in America, Though all they know really is Time Flies, but that's gonna change i know :)
