Thank you very much for this great video. One question though: Don't it have to be p<.05 because of the 5%level for significance? p<.005 would be highly significant which you normally can only see on a SPSS output for example (that's what our professors have taught us).Would be grateful for a reply.
@andyfan69201If you are accepting something then you believe it is to be correct. However, with hypotheses tests, you are seeing if we have evidence to reject the null hypothesis. If we have evidence, then we get to reject...if we don't have the evidence we don't get to reject. Think of it like a court of law...we get evidence and we get to say GUILTY...we don't get enough evidence we get to say NOT GUILTY. Notice we don't say they are innocent. We just don't have enough evidence to say guilty.
@tcreelmuw I understand what you are saying, I'm a stats major. However, most college professors will allow you to say you accept the null or alternative. Just wanting to let the person know that, he may not be saying it wrong depending on his professor.

THANK YOU! But just for clarifying: do we reject the alternative and accept the research hypothesis? or is it the other way round?
BlackRosesRed87 11 months ago
@BlackRosesRed87 You never 'accept' the null or alternative hypothesis. You can just reject or fail to reject it.

@perriperripanpan you're nitpicking, many college professors allow you to say accept. It's all the same.
