He has poor pitch. He is singing sharp and its kind of painful for someone to listen to. His tonal "quality" is very pavorotti-esque which i'm sure is on purpose, but he doesn't have the proper musical ear to sing on pitch, that is difficult to overcome.

Both singers classify themselves as opera singers. Judging from the means by witch they produce their tone, they wouldn't last two hours on an unamplified stage, much less 3+ hours of performance every single night. Both singers classify themselves as opera singers. Judging from the means by witch they produce their tone, they wouldn't last two hours on an unamplified stage, much less 3+ hours of performance every single night. I respect your right to like these singers; but in terms of technical facility and depth of character there are much better

one does not sing in public till they are ready-training may NOT help with his lack of an ear and singing flat and if he doesnt get training he can ruin what voice he has-but trust me his flaws are huge and not just from lack of experience-he has basic vocal problems and a lack of musicality which may skuttle any career for him...opera is becoming a thing of the past what the people want are "stars" like Groban-

You are right on a side (but don't forget even Pavarotti was a man, not God, ok? don't bother God). Even Costel Busuioc disagree with that comparison, he said he's just a simple poor worker, with no proper musical training, with just elementary school. He used to sing in churches. In Spain, somebody's heard him singing and called the Spanish television. That's how everything started for him. He didn't dare to participate at that contest, but everybody else pushed him onto stage. It's unexpected

In his home country, at one moment, Costel Busuioc wasn't accepted to pursue a musical career, because he's got the elementary school only. He's honest, that's why he's happy with the great offer from Sony-BMG: vocal training, general culture courses, and the chance to start a musical career. Everyone will see if this will be successful in the future. However, it's very difficult to cover such a gap in education, vocal practice, and experience, but it's the greatest thing in his life. Respect.

You are right, but for his level he's good. You may know he was working for railways, in his home country, to clean up wagons using sulphuric acid. Doctors asked him to stop that work, because his throat was badly damaged. He was a father of 3 or 4 kids, he needed to work somewhere. Spain was a great opportunity for him. I don't know if his throat is fully recovered, but I know he does need musical vocal training. I think nobody's really comparing him with Pavarotti in his home country.

To compare this piece of crap with the great Luciano is an insult to his memory and to music in general.
This guy has no idea how to sing,in top of that he is out of tune and shouts the high notes.
The Romanian version of that other piece of crap:paul pots.

that is not nice of you...a lot of people can sing but they don't have the possibility to train their voices in order to make them better and use them properly...not shouting on high tones for example....i don't know how you would do...

This has nothing to do with being nice or not.This guy is being used by the Spanish tv as a response to Britain's Paul Pots(which is even worst)Once all the "novelty" will pass they will have nohing,just memories of their 15 minutes of fame.

Good lord. I strongly suggested to burn Paul Potts at the stake but I really have no idea what to do with HIM. I wouldn't blame Romania for that, although he does look quite...criminal. I'll be back soon with some ideas!

This guy's voice nowhere near as good as Pavarotti. His voice is good for an ordinary man but nothing special if he was a professional singer. Sorry if my personal opinion make some of his supporters unhappy

I prefer to listen to Pavarotti myself. He`s the true Maestro. Search on youtube keywords: Pavarotti Nessun dorma last performance.
Imagine a 70`sh year old man struggling with cancer, sharing his love in front of the public who truly understood his musical testament.
Costel Busuioc is not Pavarotti, he never will be. But he can be a damn good tenor one day, if he follws this career and takes musical courses.
The show at the spanish television is just unprofessional, Costel`s music isn`t.
