just be sure that a nurse (CRNA) doesn;t do your case...demand an anesthesiologist (MD) if you want to avoid the serious side-effects: subtle brain damage, resp problems, death...a nurse would not be able to manage any of these
lol when i went under my eyes were opened, and everything started to change colors, then fox mcloud came up in front of me and said,"watch my big gay dance!"
Then all those guys from yo gabba gabba came into the operating room and started dancing. lolz.
It works very well, has very few post operative problems and is relatively easy to administer. The trouble with it is that it is too good...post operatively you feel really mellow happy and spacey for 6 hours, memorably nice.I can see why people get addicted to it. If I could get hold of it,It'd probably be the death of me. Did you know it has killed medics who steal the stuff and get addicted to it? Some people even think patients exhalations are addicting medics as well!
..I love gallows humor.....the anesthesiologist who offered it to me for my endoscopy made the same stupid comment (I declined propofol) and she said that some of her associates have been known to inject themselves with it dozens of times per day...............crazy
@mystylady That would scare the shit outta me! My doctor, months prior to my endoscopy, sold me it was the same one MJ died on, but that he abused it to help him sleep, without the aid of a certified anesthesiologist. When I was actually getting it done, I remember feeling its effects and saying "I dont like this at all..." as my head spun into darkness
I had propofol a few days ago for an endoscopy as well. It gives you about 5seconds worth of wow I feel great then your waking up. The only thing I noticed that is different from full GA is that the recovery time from propofol was almost instant as far as being able to communicate effectively. I was still groggy and a little un-coordinated but as bad from past surgery experiences.
I actually got to try propofol after I had endoscopy (drug-free) done; the anesthesiologist was telling me that it would be great for my upcoming elbow surgery (I specified a block only, no sedation).. No side effects from 10, 15 up to 45mg doses of propofol)..but where does anyone think that this stuff is fun or pleasureable? It seems safe (I stand correcte) when administered by anesthesiologists, but it's not fun. The doc said maybe with fentanyl you will like it; I'll skip that, thanks.
I guess that the nurse giving the anesthesia is too lazy to take his watch off! I guess that he doesn't even bother to wash his hands before he puts the gloves on............what poor technique.....
Propofol is not a bad drug! The media is beginning to overexaggerate its mortality rate considering its infinitismaly small!
The whole Michael Jackson thing occured because he combined constant overly extreme anesthetics daily with a possibly terminal blood disease (lupus) and a high stress life as well as an enormous amount of benzodiazepans and stimulants
getting my tonsels out ok Dr: ok count to 10 Me: i bet i can 1..2.. *wakes up in recovery room lol*

@mystylady LOL can't believe she said that BUT Propofol works well for endoscopies because it doesn't last long.
