  • simply the best ice-dancers of all time!

  • Amazing.... I remember watching this dance in 1994, thank you for posting the video and bringing back those beautiful memories! Though my favourite dancers are Irina Rodnina and Alexandr Zaitsev, Natalia Linichuk and Gennady Karponosov, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean have always been very special to me. This original dance is extaordinary good, I could never forget it.

  • Oksana Grishuk and Evgeny Platov in the BEST ice dancing team in the history of ice dancing! Unbeatable team FOREVER!!! Oksana and Evgeny true gold medal winners. This guys robbed them at the 1994 European championship. They must retun the gold medal to their true champions Oksana Grishuk and Evgeny Platov asap.

  • this is what they need to bring back to ice dance now and make them actualy 'dance' on the ice instead of all the arw waving and lifting it has become.

  • CHEATS!!! :(

  • @2010watchmenow You prick! You know nothing about skating, you stupid troll.

  • CHEATS!!! this team is RUBBISH!!! not even close to be on top three. their palce is 13th

  • @2010watchmenow CHEATS??? waa fukin planet are you on ???!!!! this dance is amazing you dont no waa ur talkin abba ur just a pathetic person whoo has nothing better to do than critisise the greatest ice dancers of all time !!! i would lovee to see you perform this OD as perfect as they did..........

  • Thank you so much for posting this video! Pure poetry on ice! Aaaaah!

  • Thanks for posting :) This was a stunning performance - the fluidity of movement and synchronicity was breathtaking, they really told the story of the rhumba (the dance of love) not just skated a routine. I was heartbroken that they didn't win gold again - the only couple to truly dance on ice, not just skate for points. Everything they did was perfection and a joy to watch - shame on the judges for the political scoring....

  • Can't get more beautiful than this. Those two are legends.

  • I forgot they came back in '94. That really was the comeback year wasn't it!

  • They have amazing chemistry, it makes them great actors, as well as Ice Dancers.

The IOC used Torvill and Dean, and Katarina Witt to get people watching and to break the line between pro and ametuer athletes. It is Torvill and Dean, that made it possible for the top tennis players to compete in the Summer Games. The judges however did not like it, some much. T and D were always brilliant at the OD.

  • The reason that they didn't win was because the judges didn't like that they came back from being pros. That was made very plainly. They changed the rules because of Torvill and Dean so there would be no more "original" dance, just twizzles.

  • This could very well be a gold medal performance even today.

  • Thanks for the video. I was only 4 when they did this so was not fortunate enough to remember it but they are just brilliant. Bronze maybe good but they should have won. Computers can't judge artistic impression.

  • i was only one at the time myself and cannot believe how amazing they are. thank you for your comment

  • When you are Chris and Jayne and you haven't lost a competition since 1981 bronze is a tough result.

  • I agree with everyone. And why this dance is better than the others? ok technical moves, chemistry, etc.. but before everything it captures the essence of rhumba! The other dances are just too fast, fake sensuality and artificial sequins!

It's really hard to do a proper rhumba. And those made the best one possible on ice!

  • thank you very much for your comment you obviously have alot of passion for this kind of art and i respect that :)

  • Well Rooney thanks to you for the video! Well I just founded that you can't fake rhumba. Don't you think? And must be really hard to dance very close and with a strong sexual feeling... wich is hard I think for skaters that are spoprtsmen first :P

  • Even after 15 years, no one has come close to this OD!

  • I never got beyond a Dutch waltz. :(

  • What a gift they are!!

  • They bring a whole new level to ice dancing with this OD alone, and a whole new meaning to Histoire d'Amour to top!

  • In reply to Aislinn177:

Well then you need glasses. I'm sorry but this is amazing, new choreography, new ideas, Torvill and Dean explore ice dancig where no one else have dared go.

  • thank you for all your comments and im glad you enjoyed the video :)

  • I'd like to see Grishuk and Platov attempt to do this. Torvill and Dean deserved to win, by far.

  • They certainly showed them how it's done!

  • amazing choreography, stunning performance. no mistakes, and yet, only bronze. is there any justice in the world?

  • Well they were marked first in this dance atleast. Almost every judge had them first in this particular dance.

  • i wnet and saw dancing and ice and met them my dad worked on it a couple times

  • Wonderful. No racing across the surface with rushed footwork and loud, scratchy edges; just flawless. A joy to watch.
