the chinese ceremony was very good. i liked it. but (hopefully im not going to sound too biased here lol) our opening ceremony had more style and artistic creativity. it was totally predictable the chinese would cover the arena with 10,000 ppl all doing the same movements to impress. and ours had LIVE ppl singing. i love these type of events, and enjoyed both immensly, a credit to both countries, but i think ours was better. by a long way.

Couldn't have said it better myself! The Chinese were allowed to host the olympics only under promised terms that they failed to deliver on, for starters. The opening itself was predictably showy. A presumed 500 years of pent-up nationalist brag rights spilled out into one show. Coreographed thousands of times prior, it included fake fireworks, lip-syncing childred, the use of highly toxic materials for visual effects, and so on.. I much prefer the tactfull events hosted by responsible nations.
