  • I started listening to jazz when I was in the 8th grade , and this was one of the artist among many I came to love.

  • Ravel is my favorite of all time and I know this version (70's)

This is wel done but it is not the whole composition.

  • This should have been played for Princess Diana's funeral.

  • @asiaball I am so touched to read your message and I think you're right.

  • Sorry but in my opinion, this exquisite interpretation are most beautiful, that the original orchestal version.. sorry.

  • Like a tender kiss...

    Beautiful.

  • There is an unforgettable live version that can be heard in 1973 CTI "ARTISTRY" which is on LP which has been out of print for years AND only available on CD from JAPAN for about $30.

Also contains the sunny "Rio Sangre".

  • i love the live deodato version better.ive got it on vinyl

  • Sí! La pavana de Ravel está magistralmente interpretada...

Para mí también es una de las melodías más bonitas ********

  • brings back the past like a spear in the heart.... sadness melts with pleasure and flows from my eyes...

  • I just love this piece of music.

I think it's the only piece of music that describes for me the pain of the silence...

    X

  • Listen... my fingers touch your face...

  • Check the funk chord one-quarter through.

  • When see the planes high in the sky pass by, I just close my eyes and think of nothing, nothing at all and just listen to this beautiful music and forget the world.

  • sigue siendo hermosa...

  • I grew up listening to this... beautiful.

  • This was sampled by 9th Wonder.

  • This jont was also used in terror squad "the hidden hand"

  • Oh, alright.

    Thanks for the info.

  • What song?

  • "A Letter To Sick L" on the Dream Merchant 1.

  • I think DJ Jazzy Jeff used the same type of cover for his album "The Magnificent". I could be wrong.

  • @buckeyefan05 HE DID....

  • Deodato is really something.

  • Nice job! In this way the Pavane's melody sounds even more nostalgic and sentimental. Aahh, my heart is melting...

  • undoubtably my favourite deodato arrangement!

DEEP, DEEP, DEEP then another dollop of DEEP when he flips it and it goes all jazzual at 1.31 and just puts my hair on end!!

    AMAZING!!!

    great post!! cheers

  • YES!!! Just a little bit of blues there. His arrangement is quite beautiful, and does Maurice Ravel quite proud, in my opinion.

  • Are you there my brother? Remember Yokohama in 74? Did we not know more than the others in a time of cemented tradition?

Have you gone over? Wait for me, save a place for me, we have much to talk of Thomas.

  • Absolutely incredible arrangement of Ravel's 1899 work. Does anyone happen to know if this was ever used in a documentary about John F. Kennedy? I could of sworn I heard it on a HBO documentary from 1988. I was only five at the time, and just barely remember the music, but it sounded a great deal like this. If not, it would certainly work!

  • Do you know the name of the original composition? By Ravel that is.

  • Err nevermind~ Stupid!

  • Well, the original French spelling is, "Pavane pour une Infante defunte", which translates to "Pavane on the Death of an Infanta", or something to that extent.

  • Esta é uma das mais belas interpretações da Pavana que já escutei. A arte de Eumir é soberba e desconhece fronteiras.

  • This has always been one of my favorite songs.
