I loved Lucy, but as a Cuban Exiled living in this country for 40 years, I can't but feel a profound admiration for Desi Arnaz. He made it Big, accent and all, and always proud of his Cuban heritage. I always wanted to meet him, but I don't loose hope, because when I die I will look for him up there. I know he's singing his heart out.

And I actually believe their daughter has Ricky's eyes and Rickey jr looks more like his mom. I think both Ricky and Lucy were like two pieces of a puzzle that fit perfectly together they could have forced another piece in it but it would not have looked or been the same. Totally agree!! The series would not have been nearly as good, or even have succeeded without the character of Ricky, or his behind the scenes contributions. He was vital to the chemistry of the four characters! The show was perfect because of the cast just the way they were!

She just stood out far above and beyond the crowd..not necessarily reems more talent, just her personality~ He was a brilliant man, and it's him we have to thank for the three-camera system used to this day in filming studio shows.

What Are You Talking About He Never Treated He Bad At All He Never Hit Her. Both Of Them Started The Fights, And It Was Desi Who Wanted The Divorce, Not Lucy But He Wanted To Make Her Look Like She Was In Charge. So He Let Her File For Divorce Or Sue For Divorce What Ever It's Called.
Lucy explains this later in the show just after Desi gives a VERY moving speech about how his impoverished family came to America from Cuba. ("My firs' job was cleanin' bird cages!")

If you are referring to Vivian Vance in the jeep, this is from one of the hour long "The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour" w/ Fred MacMurray called "Lucy Hunts Uranium" (1958).
CAR BUFFS: Is that a 1951 or 1952 Cadillac at 4:15 - The top front of the hood is more slanted back just under the hood ornament like the '51, but the chrome just above the bumper in front of the tires has two horizontal lines which appear in both the '51 & '52 Sedan. At 4:15 keep pausing it as the camera pans in to see Ricky waving. There is a better view of the side of the bumper which, in my opinion will be the ONLY way to tell which year it is. Legend has it that when Lucy was doing her last television show in 1986, Desi would call her almost every night, very late at night (2 or 3 a.m.) begging her to forgive him for everything he'd done to her (all the cheating, the drunkeness, gambling, etc.). She would be exhausted on set the next day (she was 75 at that time), but she continued to take his calls.
She died on Carol Burnett's birthday. Ironically, Lucille always remembered to send Carol a bouquet of flowers for her birthday. On the day Lucille died, her flowers arrived at Carol's house.
The news spread around Hollywood that William Frawley died, and Ethel was at a restaurant. Once she heard, Viv stood up and said, "Drinks around the house on me!" In an insulting way, they hated each other.
Desi was the master-mind behind I Love Lucy. He and a director, Karl Freund (spelling?) developed the 3 camera technique which is still used today to film situation comedies. As their Desilu empire grew bigger, Desi began drinking and gambling more. That was the undoing of their marriage. Even though, they remained friends until the day Desi died in 1986. Desi had directed episodes of "The Lucy Show" after they were divorced in 1960.

Brilliant acting, really funny comedy and excellent timing.
They were right together, even though Vivian (Ethel) and William (Fred) hated each other in real life.
America tuned in when it was time for I Love Lucy.

Well, that's your opinion, and I do respect it.
However, my opinion is that he was a band
leader, and not an actor. He comes off to me
as being arrogant, and even the producers of
the show (or some higher ups) felt the same as
I do. I personally can't stand Desi in the show,
and it's why I prefer to watch all of the other
Lucy shows instead. Heck, I don't care much for Fred either.

@leslietitus105 In 1954, Sullivan devoted an entire show to Lucy and Desi and this was part of a very funny sketch about Ed inviting them to appear.
Unfortunately, by the Sunday night of the filiming, Desi had come down with a terrible case of the the flu and had a 102 degree fever.
Like the pro he was, Desi went on and, despite having to do some very physical comedy and a lot of running around, he was flawless.
That's why he's mopping his face with the handkerchief.

Lucy explains this later in the show just after Desi gives a VERY moving speech about how his impoverished family came to America from Cuba. ("My firs' job was cleanin' bird cages!")
He gets very emotional when he expresses his deep gratitude to America -- "No other country in the worl' can you go from cleanin' bird cages to this kind of success ..."
Sure, I love Lucy ... but I'm in total awe of Desi.

At 23 years old, I can honestly say that this is the best show on television. I have been watching it since I was two or three years old. My grandfather would turn it on and have me sit next to him in his chair while we watched it. My father and I used to watch it together as well. I remember when Nick @ Nite had two hours of Lucy on every Saturday night (two episodes of ILL and on LDCH). I miss those nights. *sigh* If only television were still this good today.

She always maintained that red color but it wasn't natural. It's hard to imagine her as anything but red. I've read that her hair was blonde, and others say she was light brown. She was probably blonde as a child and it could've darkened to brown or near brown.

Hmm... that's odd. Last I remember was that Lucille Ball was born a brunette. I know she's had her her blond before, but I was told that she had brown hair as a kid.

I'm almost 15, and everyone thinks it's very strange that I am in love with the I Love Lucy show! Hahaha! I think it's great for all ages! For christmas, I got the ENTIRE SERIES on dvd!! Haha! Yaaay!! :)

i watch this show at least once everyday. i am a huge fan and it has become a source of comfort for me in tough times through life or when i am having a bad day. if i do not watch one day i feel like i am empty or that i have a big void. in every sense of the word this is my fav. show ever. & i'm 21. been watching since i was 13!

CAR BUFFS: Is that a 1951 or 1952 Cadillac at 4:15 - The top front of the hood is more slanted back just under the hood ornament like the '51, but the chrome just above the bumper in front of the tires has two horizontal lines which appear in both the '51 & '52 Sedan. At 4:15 keep pausing it as the camera pans in to see Ricky waving. There is a better view of the side of the bumper which, in my opinion will be the ONLY way to tell which year it is. LET ME KNOW ~ thanks, Bob

Legend has it that when Lucy was doing her last television show in 1986, Desi would call her almost every night, very late at night (2 or 3 a.m.) begging her to forgive him for everything he'd done to her (all the cheating, the drunkeness, gambling, etc.). Apparently Lucy took every single call from him, even though the calls usually required her to get up in the middle of the night. She would be exhausted on set the next day (she was 75 at that time), but she continued to take his calls.

She died on Carol Burnett's birthday. Ironically, Lucille always remembered to send Carol a bouquet of flowers for her birthday. On the day Lucille died, her flowers arrived at Carol's house.

Desi was the master-mind behind I Love Lucy. He and a director, Karl Freund (spelling?) developed the 3 camera technique which is still used today to film situation comedies. As their Desilu empire grew bigger, Desi began drinking and gambling more. That was the undoing of their marriage. Even though, they remained friends until the day Desi died in 1986. Desi had directed episodes of "The Lucy Show" after they were divorced in 1960.
