  • Lovely mellow song indeed, i love how this video clip features the same main character as in the video clip for "Come Dancing", awesome concept :-)

  • Ray Davies' name will eventually get it's due and be spoken in the same breath as the likes of Lennon/McCartney and John/Taupin.

  • Kinks could do it all. What a wonderful song - and a message for all ages.

  • This song is terrible.

  • It is sooooo sad that the young people today didn't experience the 80's like i did. The music today is just full of it.

  • Love what happens to this song around 2:20 and thereafter. Beginning great as well

  • schönes lied, aber auch schönes geschehen um das tanzen. :-)

  • I dedicate this song to all you single girls in your 30's. Don't forget to dance.

  • super,super, süper*

  • @nolifemerc Ray Davies has been married three times and has four daughters: Louisa, Victoria, Natalie and Eva. Davies was romantically involved with Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders during the 1980s, and Natalie is their daughter. You might want to research people before you carelessly slander their good name.

  • I like it this song is an anthem to the nostalgia to the memories to the old good times, thank you for sharing this song, Sir BicakResat.

  • sounds kind like pink floyd

  • @Josuost16 I guess the vocals sound a tiny bit like Gilmour's if you use really use your imagination. The music is nothing like any Floyd I've ever heard.

  • @OldPrawnFace Yes I know their music doesn't sound anything like Pink Floyd, nothing like that, just that it reminds me a bit of Pink Floyd

  • Excelente canción, me recuerda a una novia que tuve en los 80´s. Le doy gracias a Dios por haber disfrutado tanto ésa década!!!

  • melancholy, lethargy, well this song has it all thanks a bunch Kinks for the music and then a bit of hope at the end well i wish that life was like that...

  • my mom was crazy for the kinks and we kids loved them too!

  • This song is fucking incredible

  • @brieman2 after

Yeah gets in to you dosn't it even now even after 30 odd years always sounds I'm hearing it for the first time far dues to youu Mr Davies

  • Long live Spiv Davies!

  • Dis anyone knows the synth type used in that tune? I guess it is the same than in 'Bobby Brown'Zappa tune, and also 'Were in this love together' Al Jarreau tune? Thank u to all the connoisseurs of synths and kb

  • Why did the girl run away from the guy? I don't understand what happened?

  • where are these great Promo-videos of Don't Foget TO Dance, Come Dancing, Dead End Street, Do It Again and these others on ?? Are they on Bootleg DVD's or only recorded by the people from TV in this time ??

  • Ah, If only I could re-live 1983 over and over and over. If I could do that, I'd never have to live my life without my beautiful Gina. She was the only one true love of my life.

  • Don't forget to dance, no, no, no,

    Don't forget to smile.

Don't forget to dance, no, no, no,

    Forget it for a while...

  • Great song!!!!

  • Ray Davies is such a dynamic artist he makes a mullet look cool

  • A totally forgotten song by just about everyone that are not a Kinks fan. I am not a huge Kinks fan....but sure like this song.

  • i can't help myself, but in the eighties songs have lost their swing

  • Dedicated to a lady who always loved to dance. She knows who she is. Keep dancing, I'll always wish I was there to watch.

  • As a 100% heterosexual male, I don't mind saying that Ray Davies is an extremely sexy man.

  • @drakhlion doubt it

  • Too bad the music is out of sync

  • I like the video , kind of a cinderella story :D !

  • I remember this song vividly fron the fall of 1983. I was 18 and driving to school one day, heard this song on the radio one of many times that year, and since then I place myself at that very moment in time driving to school everytime I hear this. Gina and I had been in love for a little over a year at the time. God I miss her!

  • Another great song by Ray

  • Love this song :)

  • I'll never forget, my mother danced with me to this song many times when I was a very little boy... My dear mom.....

  • que gran tema

  • The feel in their music is awesome!

  • I am 13 and love this kind of music! I hope the Kinks never go out of style, even though it might be too late to save this great music the way things are going.

  • @TheKinksfanatic kinks fanatic at 13? thats hell cool dude, i was digging those guys when i was that age, still do.

  • Goonerette,it's true what you say.. there won't be any more Kinks if these generations continue to pay attention to such empty hearted things.Anyway,Kinks' talent won't ever be equalled! God save them.

  • Fall of 1983

  • As much a life's philosophy as it is a song.

  • pure class from these blokes

  • The Kinks are the best British Band to do nostalgia, and probably the best nostalgic band ever in the whole world. There'll never be another Kinks anyway!

  • @jea241269 No not why the American Idol / X Factor stuff is around, there won't!

  • this song makes me cry

  • Yes you with the broken heart....Don't forget to dance.

  • Great Schtuff!!!!!

  • Nice stuff. I've been a long time Kinks fan. This is from when MTV didn't suck and videos actually showed creativity, imagination and told a story.

  • i miss the days when MTV was able to show videos like this along with great tunes. I was an MTV dropout somewherem around the late 80s. Music became tragic and the vidoes were nothing but trashy crap. I grew up! But thanks for the great memories bicakResat

  • Superbly directed video!

  • i still prefer the 60s and 70s kinks, better than the 80s

  • que temon !!

  • I'm glad they took the time, trouble and money to do this in the glitzy, glammy '80s. Still good today.

  • Great song, great video. Isn't "life's soundtrack" amazing?

  • Thanks for sharing!

  • que temon!!

  • que temon!!

  • excelent song, i have a doubt. this is not the same video for the song come dancing?

  • This song and "Come Dancing" were the best songs ever to describe the atmosphere of the teen years, at least for me. The angst, the joy, the heartbreak. They were brilliant.

  • Sounds like my story

  • Hit #16 rock, #23 AC, #29 pop in the US (Billboard). How'd it do in the UK? God bless!

  • @DaveWollenberg Unfortunately, it only got to #58

  • hab' mich gefreut´, dass auch zimmer from berlin, damals 5 jahre alt, diesen song

mittlerweile auch versteht. find' ich klasse°

  • Passt ,ich find es wunderbar

  • im thinking of making my motto dont forget to dance

    either that or hakuna matata

  • A great, sad song!

  • Good admonition from Ray and the boys. Hit #29 in Billboard.

  • absolutely brilliant!!

  • Thanks - still brings a lump to my throat 25 years on...

  • Estupenda canción y video,

    Gracias Kinks!!

  • Thought I would never see this video again, Thanks for posting it, made my day! Gonna start looking for all my favs vids of my day, Thanks for YouTube!

  • Terry Jones (Monty Python) lookalike dancing 30 sec in to the video

  • I think that actually IS Terry Jones...he did a lot of weird cameo roles around this time, like the pissed vicar in the Young Ones.

  • Cool :-)

  • sure does look like him, i'm almost positive that's Superintendent Harry "Snapper" Organs, of Q division.

  • bellows!!!

  • Great, and amazing vid. from 1983 - love his (yes, u know) voice at 3.40. This brings back great memories.

  • nice..

  • May i comment on this video? So beautiful, and nice to dance to, too.

  • This takes me way back to September 1983 when Gina and I were so in love and I was just starting out at

St. Paul TVI. I wish those years with Gina never would have ended.

  • a genius

  • ole ray is so dickensian

  • Ray and Dave Davies ARE the Kinks! Google them.

  • What fantastic showmen Ray and Dave were!

  • who are ray and dave,in connection with the kinks,i only know ray.

  • Could the blonde ticket-chick get any cuter?!? Hubba-Hubba!

  • I liked Come Dancin.

  • I was 17 when this came out also, what a trip! One of the very few "slow" songs I liked back then.

  • I was 17 when this tune hit the airwaves. I liked it then, and I like it now.

  • Das war noch Musik !!!!

  • Hermosa canción, vivan los Kinks.

  • Kinks are Kings~~

Is there any recordin for Supersonic Rocket Ship or for I Need You?

Thank you for posting and your attention.

  • DelightfulMiles likes this one. Brilliant.

  • Interesting story to the video too. It seemed to combine time travel and reincarnation elements.

  • Isn't he just handsome in that mustach?

  • the kinks do nostalgic, bittersweet better than anyone

  • @blabberjob The Kinks did nostalgia in their earliest LPs, Arthur, Village Green, Kinda Kinks, Something Else...You probably know that.

  • @blabberjob Well put. No one does it better.

  • Dedicated to my russian girlfriend...my Nadezda...i love her so much ! You´re my heart, my great love, my big hope and my sweet home !

  • 1983 is the year i turned into a music junkie...the year 'state of confusion' came out, along w/ many other lp's i loved...and MTV was actually fun then! lol

  • Ah, there's a ballroom of romance waiting for us all ... great song!

  • How do you guys from The UK do it? Such great bands came-out of The UK. The only artists produced from The USA that I like, are Jimi Hendrix, and Eric Johnson!!!

  • us Americans have some great bands, but they largely have to go to Blighty to be recognized. Sparks, Scott Walker come to mind

  • Guns n Roses, The Eagles, The Almond Brothers, The Mothers of Invention, Greatful Dead.....the list is endless

  • The Almond Brothers? Greatful Dead?Just classic!

It's Allman and Grateful you git.

  • Before they were known as the Allman Brothers band, they were known as The Allman Joys....a twist on the name of the cand bar, Almond Joy. They released an album under this former name.

  • that retort is comedy gold!

  • i agree, there are some great band from america!

But the Island is just superior to usa in case of rock bands..
