man its like lupe fighting a sub boss in this song before the last level a.k.a the last song which is kick push 2 where he has to fight the last boss a.k.a the last beat dope song
He is saying "know the weapons of the weak the weakness of the HARD"...meaning the weapons that weak people use are the same weapons that people who act hard use because those people are really weak...basically saying be true to yourself...The Emperors soundtrack the emperor has no clothes
No. We are weak but we still have weapons. Even opressed people can find a way to fight. Those are the weapons of the weak. And it is very usefull to also know the weakness of those who are in power. Lupe believes he knows them and he believes in the power of the people.
@harmonicsa no trust me ive listen to the song more than 100 times its I only fear god, the weapons of the weak, weakness to the hard and i will never sleep, In this verse hes basicly saying hes invincible to every thing except for god
@DjTj29 I don't know about. Sounds like "weakness of the heart" to me. That makes sense since this song is basically talking about how there's no one to fear except God. Sounds like "Only fear God, not the weapons of the weak, weakness of the heart." That last line is referring to how humans are weak and we are drawn to evil things because our hearts are weak.
@greyhallow31 You live by a bestbuy, walmart, target, etc? Buy the cd. I know cd prices are steep as everything is now. However, food and liquor is a gem of a cd. can someone explain the marvin billups said what up to the reaper, hell met like ridell, (i get that he's talkin about the football helmets) fuckin ill, just someone explain the relevance to the firrst bar
@jesseclifton Hey, the lyrics marvin billups are actually incorrect as Lupe says "Biden Bellows"
There is a guy called Biden who was forced to make a emergency helicopter Landing in afghan, therefore he's saying whaddup to the reaper (nearly met the reaper)
"Hell Met like ridell and high water hello...." - originated from the phrase between hell and high water, Lupe just uses the sentence about Ridell as its a great double meaning (NFL helmets etc)
am I the only one that heard the Arthur reference? this man said "I Author like DW Brother!!! Remember the kid show Arthur that used to come on when we were kids?? Golly Lupe, you get me every time =)
You guys....We all love Lupe....Which is why we have to do something RIGHT NOW! I got the news, that after Lasers, he's quitting! We have to do something!!! But what? :(
@Skater2Morrow It depends on what you mean by Real. because Lasers had a lot of personal emotion in it if you look closely ..he doesn't explore his own psyche in other albums like he does on lasers. now having said that id like to say that im a hug fan of Lupe and ALL of his albums and mixtapes and i try to look at each one individually because they all represent different circumstances and ideas and thought processes.
In a world where most of everything we hear is derived from some generic societal "norm" it's nice to hear something different, eye opening and so well-done. Lupe's music is, in a way, a kind of "escape into reality" were he makes you think about the world, but doesnt feed you the worlds BS
Damn... if there werent any lyrics...i would have never believed or imagined...how could one sum up the current issues around the world with such word play and clever metaphors better the him??? No one bc its never ben done before...amazing and innovating
i really hope that by the time i'm a grandfather (in some 40 or so years) people will actually praise this mans genious and message. he really deserves to be awarded and appreciated by all of society and not just the few that choose to think above the bar and choose to see through all social, racial, and economic classes.
How do you describe his genius? Literally I have never had my mouth drop in amazement at ANY artist in my life. My whole damn life. Think about that. Like his brain is just....I can't describe. I really can't.
@maazlim Kid Cudi is one of the most creative artists in the game, don't hate on his music. I love Lupe Fiasco and Kid Cudi. Kid Cudi isn't known for being lyrical either so he isn't anything like Lupe. Go listen to "A Kid Named Cudi" if you didn't like MOTM1.

Nice video, but I think Lu is saying: "The weapons of the weak, the weakness of the "heart". The reason I say that is, we don't pronounce our R's thoroughly here in Chicago. And, the majority of us in Chicago hear heart and not hard at that point. It also ties into that if the heart is weak(not in physical health), it can be lead to become a weapon.

I think it means he understands the plight of the children in the ghettos who are surrounded by violence as clearly as "an invisible man in the mirror"
@moist888 of course, i agree, because rappers who talk social ideals in a society where they're impossible to achieve are the best rappers ever! i totally love how drake talks about his money while we're all in a recession which is a borderline depression! i totally love how lady gaga wants us to "just dance" so we wont think about how America is funding death squads in Columbia. i totally love how soulja boy talks about his pretty boy swag when the rate of the homeless is rising!
@akaSTEPMOM em i the only one that thinks that eminem doenst suck just because he is mainstream? i mean he has alot of heavy songs too that could just hit you!
@jr4chargers i understand where you're coming from but you said "many". 2/3 of his songs (all songs he ever wrote lyrics to) are very unnecessary. he does like you said produce heavy songs, though there aren't many of them. he needs to make a album with songs that are just like stan, loose yourself, mocking bird, when i'm gone, etc. not superman, cold wind blows, etc. when he does, then i'll go back to respecting him
@akaSTEPMOM i love how people whine and point out great societal ills, all the while doing nothing about it, comforting themselves with the snarky little sarcastic remarks.
@missuhlang and i love how your sitting there criticizing him for pointing out these societal ills while making a snarky little remark myself as well. As a mater of fact, I'm doing the same so how about you stop complaining about him being right and listen to the song so we can all be better off in the end eh?
Lupe is a tru rapper he has all the talent and lyrically the best out there now but whos gettin all the spotlight wayne get the fuck outta here waynes a loser lupe will go so far over his heard lyrically wayne wuldnt kno wtf to do
most america hip hop need lear from lupe fiasco, because lupe fiasco is deep lyric, most muslim, arab hip hop, uk muslim hip hop are greatest than not muslim hip hop.
@Beasty347 Simple.Because hes too smart. He has too many wordplays, meaningful lyrics and wordplay. Its amazing hes even famous in the frist place when so many other ppl would much rather see some talentless gangster with a grill, in a club for the music video
wow i never heard this guys music till now i was watching ed reeds highlights and this song was on it...thank god i watched it and here i am listening to 1 of the future of hip hop ...dis kid is crazy...
I love the revolution style video.

I think it means he understands the plight of the children in the ghettos who are surrounded by violence as clearly as "an invisible man in the mirror"

Lupe is the gayest rapper around. Noobies saying he's the best rapper around need to get their head out of his ass.
moist888 1 year ago
@moist888 of course, i agree, because rappers who talk social ideals in a society where they're impossible to achieve are the best rappers ever! i totally love how drake talks about his money while we're all in a recession which is a borderline depression! i totally love how lady gaga wants us to "just dance" so we wont think about how America is funding death squads in Columbia. i totally love how soulja boy talks about his pretty boy swag when the rate of the homeless is rising!
wake up fool

@akaSTEPMOM em i the only one that thinks that eminem doenst suck just because he is mainstream? i mean he has alot of heavy songs too that could just hit you!
you know what i mean?
jr4chargers 1 year ago
@jr4chargers i understand where you're coming from but you said "many". 2/3 of his songs (all songs he ever wrote lyrics to) are very unnecessary. he does like you said produce heavy songs, though there aren't many of them. he needs to make a album with songs that are just like stan, loose yourself, mocking bird, when i'm gone, etc. not superman, cold wind blows, etc. when he does, then i'll go back to respecting him

@akaSTEPMOM i love how people whine and point out great societal ills, all the while doing nothing about it, comforting themselves with the snarky little sarcastic remarks.
missuhlang 11 months ago
@missuhlang and i love how your sitting there criticizing him for pointing out these societal ills while making a snarky little remark myself as well. As a mater of fact, I'm doing the same so how about you stop complaining about him being right and listen to the song so we can all be better off in the end eh?
Lamak104 11 months ago
@Lamak104 i was mocking him, obviously you missed out on that

@Beasty347 Simple.Because hes too smart. He has too many wordplays, meaningful lyrics and wordplay. Its amazing hes even famous in the frist place when so many other ppl would much rather see some talentless gangster with a grill, in a club for the music video
