I remember watching this, among other short Aardman animations, on one of my favourite videos, a 12 rated VHS tape called "Aardman Classics" that my dad got for me. I was 7 years old. I am now very mentally disturbed.

That was dumb. It was too long; I knew who he was looking at; and they cheated. If you count the petals at the beginning, he would've ended up on "loves me".

Awesome. I like that, at first, you want him to survive and land on love. But he becomes less likable and then by the end when we see what he's looking at, we're not so disappointed he lands on Love Me Not.

Yes, but that falling apple seemed to make up for it. During two 'loves me not's, the apple fell and counted as a 'loves me'.

Oh man what a short. Having been an Aardman fan for years I cannot believe I have not seen this one before. The character is defined, the atmosphere is rich and dark and the event gets increasingly compelling. With a masterful soundtrack and classic animation this comes together pitch perfect. The most respectful thing about it is it doesnt rush its way to the end; each action is performed slow and steady as if enjoying itself in the lime light. Incredible stuff.
