i absolutely love this movie, but the book is just so much better!!! especially the ending. i really like wargrave's godfather-like pose in that big chair with the cat. or like the mafia or something, which fits. i also find it freakin hilarious watching how lombard runs at the very end. :p. as usual, the book is absolutely better!!!!!!
OMG this is my favorite move. We were watching it in our class. ANd we all went ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh when the ending came. All the girls smiled and said "They look so good together."
Van dine's rule 3. "There must be no love interest. The business in hand is to bring a criminal to the bar of justice, not to bring a lovelorn couple to the hymeneal altar."
what a pointless ending,u.n.owen would't have shown himself they destroyed his character
@abs1234321 Of course, but the ending fine for the movie because of who the killer is. If any other was the killer, then it would have ended the right way.
Ehh I sort of like this ending. Lombard blore and vera were my favs in the book. Glad to see that at least two of them made it but I like the book 10 times better
In the book, the Judge kills Armstrong by pushing him off the cliff. Lombard and Miss Claythorne find him in the rocks when the tide goes out. In the Doc and Judge meet on the beach. How did the Judge kill Armstrong. Could've poisoned his boos, but you see the Judge take a drink after Armstrong is already dead.
This was wonderful Lombard/Davis/Charles fell in love with Vera and at the end crazy old boat river came i would have made a boat and take the puss with me
Look at the end, there were 3 people dead, Wargrave kills himself, then theres 2. Narracott comes then theres 3 again, then vera and lombard leave which means 1 is alive, Narracott. Then Narracott hangs himslef and then there were none..
@TheThebocaj Precisely. She seemed to feel that the grim ending of the book wouldn't work well as a play, or be popular, so she came up with this one.
Oh My God The Ending Is So Cute Not Like The Story She Murdered Philip In The Story And Then Hanged Herself And Then There Were None I Guess Its And Then There Were Two
Agatha's novel and her play have different endings, something she did on purpose. Light-hearted fun is what the film is, nothing more. I do agree with others, the book's ending was the best. Real blood and gore in the novel.
Lombard survived because she didn't really shot him. It was a ploy to trick the real murderer. Not so difficult to figure out.
if i were a movie writer id remake this movie but keep evry thing in the book i wudnt change a thing cuz i mean both movie and book r gud but i think tht it shud stick to its roots
They had to change the ending because the book was so popular that no one would have been surprised - thus they added the twist and pleased the romantics in the audience at the same time:) This is by far the best version of the book. I do like the 1965 version too.
Actually, it was actually Agatha Cristie herself who chose to have this alternative ending. Although I agree, they should have kept the books ending, it is false that the ending changing was Hollywood's idea.
I believe from reading the comments, she rewrote the play's ending, as well.
@wolfeyesmariah Indeed. From what I understand, Cristie herself changed the ending for the movie and play version. It's still annoying though. I don't usually mind happy endings, but the book's ending was far more clever and chilling.
@wolfeyesmariah I think AC thought the book's ending (where the exposition is in the epilogue) won't work in a play. I really hate this ending, even though it was AC's idea.
@AStoryOfMyLife Yes, it was Agatha Christie who changed the ending because the 'darker' ending wouldn't have worked as well as a stage play. @AnElephantsChild i disagree, In my opinion, although it is mean, it seems to me that they would leave Fred Narcott on the island, which is why they told him to "go get everyone" while they ran. this would make it seem like Fred Narcott was the murderer
@AnElephantsChild But what proof is there that them two killed anyone? Isn't it a bit weird that although they had a gun no one was shot to death and what reason would they have to set up the noose?
it was a sweet ending but not true to the book at all. the ending was the twist which was the best part of the whole movie! i dont think they shouldve messed with the ending but whatever...hollywood
GRRR !!! Horrible ending. The real one is SOO much better, It just makes me SO angry that they have the nerve to ruin a classic. If I become a director someday, I'll make And Then There Were None, I'd just follow the book, and it'd be 10 times better than THIS!!!

i had to read this book again for the 3rd time since im in high school now and I swear the book is way better. But in the movie if I was vera i would go on a fucking rampage with the gun and kill lombard and kill everyone else and when the damn cops come ill have all of the bodies burned and put away and say that they all took a raft back to devon because they couldn't wait but i was too scared. Then when they notice the 9 other people are missing I would vanish to Italy and live secretly.
It was all done far too tongue in cheek! Also what was the point of Lombard saying that there were NO footprints around the body, when later we see that the Judge had been standing there!
its so that the killer (who is watching them from the window), thinks that she shot him, so then the killer thinks that its only him and her left on the island.
I thought the same thing but upon watching the clip a third time.....Remember when they both said to each other just prior to the shooting......''I trust you and you trust me''...........Movie Dialogue in those days moved at a fast clip.....so the audience is following at a faster cadence and assumption
I preffered the book ending much better... This was a little boring (no offense) They should have followed the books storyline, it was far more interesting!
yeah.. except nobody found the judges note in the book =) I just liked that ending better I guess because the book was spookie and the movie kind of ruins that climax! This movie could have been renamed as "And then there were two" cos Vera Claythorn and Phillip Lombard both live...
hey wait up. in the book no one finds the note? how does the reader know about the kiler then? yeah and i agree, climax totally ruined. but dont tell me u wernt shitting urself at the end hoping it would end happy!!!
lol yeah I kinda knew what was gonna happen when I read the book because a friend had read it before me...
In the book it only shows you the letter justice wargrave wrote and that he had thrown it out to sea but it never says that anyone had found it... An unsolved mystery lol =D I did enjoy the book though despite the fact I was creeped out by it...=)
im the peom at the end it says one little nigger boy, left all anlone, he went tio hand himself then there were none! so who was the killer at the end?
I think she says the whole '1 little indian boy left all alone, he went and got married and then there were none' because in the original poem it says: One little Injun livin' all alone, He got married and then there were none
lol now i see why everyone likes books more then the movies. i jus finished readon the book n thought id skim the movie clips on here. that book was epic as hell. i was listenin to the theme song for Saw while readin it xP i always thought it was strange that the judge kept playin the part as the leader of the group..well any ways i gotta finish up a packet on this book for tomorrow. good book!
lol nice ending.. I remember Vera said from the book "One little Soldier boy Left all alone, He got married and then there were none" lol ^^ nice ending, but poor Sailor... though I like the Manuscript where Wargrave confessed his plan...
honestly, this was more like the video game than the book....after reading the book i played the PC version and the names of the characters and the ending were somewhat the same...
but this movie wasn't that shocking...because most movies based off books don't follow the book exactly anyways lol
I am a little disapointed. I remember that when I was rreding the book, I was so tensed during the ending, but this was way diffrent. But at least it was a good alternate ending :)
re: LordZeratul86 - as multiple people have said, the altered ending was written by Agatha Christie when she adapted it as a play. If this is an insult to the author then Christie insulted herself.
If this ending were to happen in the book, I would have approved, only because I thought Vera and Lombard shared a connection and thought it was a pity they both died, one of them being shot by the other.
However, this ending is cheesy in movie form, but oh well. Imagine how awesome a 2010 version of this movie would be!
This is a dramatization of the consummate Agatha Christie book, the benchmark for the whodunit. Each of the characters is nicely portrayed by accomplished actors. The pacing, the subdued dialogue, all make this film work, . I relish this author and the movies and movie portrayals of her books.
the NOVEL was the best I have ever read. Poetic justice was so well written in Dame Agatha Christie's book while the film and the video game it all ruined the concept of the book.
Shame on it.
That film is an insult to the author with a sick hollywood ending.
Just FYI Agatha Christie herself wrote a play version of "Ten Little Indians", with this ending to it. If you read "The mousetrap and other plays" it's in there. Although the movie still doesn't cover everything, and makes some changes the basics are still there. However, I hate that they changed the ending to be more comedic.
okay, im sorry, i absolutely HATED the movie. the book gave me chills and i was afraid to read it at times, but the movie didn't scare me at all. and i agree, i really wanna see a movie that follows the book.
guys really the Russian - Soviet version is the best. It's grave it's perfect acting and it's totally to the book the neding and the charcaters just how they should be!
"Desyat negrityat " is the best. just watch it f you want the real thing!
I have only read the play, and I thought the movie wasn't as good. It was too vauge on some details, plus the judge wasn't shot by Lombard. Also, what was the point of having a different man other than Lombard be there? It added nothing to the story really. But kudos to whoever put this up, I liked it nonetheless
ooh... better ending than the book. I like it when more than just the villian does the scheming. smart lombard. I couldn't believe the book. vera shooting him and then killing herself... maybe women were portrayed as easily frazzled and stupid back then, but not so much now. the book's ending would be disappointing in a remake nowadays.
i finished the book about five days ago, and when i got to this part i pictured vera to be on the last threads of her sanity. i really would like to see a modern remake of this novel.
Book was better

i had to read this book again for the 3rd time since im in high school now and I swear the book is way better.
HuntedStr3 2 years ago
It was all done far too tongue in cheek! Also what was the point of Lombard saying that there were NO footprints around the body, when later we see that the Judge had been standing there!
UncleMuncher 2 years ago
The footprints were vanished because of the tide, obviously.

why does he say 'never should trust a woman' at the end?
b0w13nspac3 2 years ago
when he says 'shoot me' and she says 'it won't hit you', why is it that the bullet wont hit him??
b0w13nspac3 2 years ago
its so that the killer (who is watching them from the window), thinks that she shot him, so then the killer thinks that its only him and her left on the island.
derek321321321 2 years ago 2
She is reassuring him that she won't kill him...He said he would fall to pretend he was dead.
childrenoftheauroras 2 years ago
I thought the same thing but upon watching the clip a third time.....Remember when they both said to each other just prior to the shooting......''I trust you and you trust me''...........Movie Dialogue in those days moved at a fast clip.....so the audience is following at a faster cadence and assumption

robin williams lookalike much?

I preffered the book ending much better... This was a little boring (no offense) They should have followed the books storyline, it was far more interesting!
RoseTylerTheBadwolf 2 years ago
what that she hang her self out of her guilt and then someone finds the judges note?
b0w13nspac3 2 years ago
yeah.. except nobody found the judges note in the book =) I just liked that ending better I guess because the book was spookie and the movie kind of ruins that climax! This movie could have been renamed as "And then there were two" cos Vera Claythorn and Phillip Lombard both live...
RoseTylerTheBadwolf 2 years ago
hey wait up. in the book no one finds the note? how does the reader know about the kiler then? yeah and i agree, climax totally ruined. but dont tell me u wernt shitting urself at the end hoping it would end happy!!!
b0w13nspac3 2 years ago
lol yeah I kinda knew what was gonna happen when I read the book because a friend had read it before me...
In the book it only shows you the letter justice wargrave wrote and that he had thrown it out to sea but it never says that anyone had found it... An unsolved mystery lol =D I did enjoy the book though despite the fact I was creeped out by it...=)

i thought vera wood hang herself like in the book

im the peom at the end it says one little nigger boy, left all anlone, he went tio hand himself then there were none! so who was the killer at the end?
KidzPixBabe 2 years ago
I think she says the whole '1 little indian boy left all alone, he went and got married and then there were none' because in the original poem it says: One little Injun livin' all alone, He got married and then there were none

lol now i see why everyone likes books more then the movies. i jus finished readon the book n thought id skim the movie clips on here. that book was epic as hell. i was listenin to the theme song for Saw while readin it xP i always thought it was strange that the judge kept playin the part as the leader of the group..well any ways i gotta finish up a packet on this book for tomorrow. good book!
zieg2006 2 years ago
lol nice ending.. I remember Vera said from the book "One little Soldier boy Left all alone, He got married and then there were none" lol ^^ nice ending, but poor Sailor... though I like the Manuscript where Wargrave confessed his plan...

the ending is very happy here, but in the book, its the opposite!!!! LOL very clever
JakeTAwesome 2 years ago
honestly, this was more like the video game than the book....after reading the book i played the PC version and the names of the characters and the ending were somewhat the same...
but this movie wasn't that shocking...because most movies based off books don't follow the book exactly anyways lol
bettadanu222 2 years ago
Vera didnt hang herself here???

ahhh, I dont like this ending
I prefer the original one of the book, just because the mystery remained mystery and mister owens wasn't revealed

If this is an insult to the author then Christie insulted herself.
defkuei 2 years ago 3
If this ending were to happen in the book, I would have approved, only because I thought Vera and Lombard shared a connection and thought it was a pity they both died, one of them being shot by the other.
However, this ending is cheesy in movie form, but oh well. Imagine how awesome a 2010 version of this movie would be!
Shaggyd0g14 2 years ago
Fantastic Film! Like the Book!
Also if the end of the book is better than this end.
But this end is also great, beause it's happy.
How nice couple Lombard and Vera <3

This is a dramatization of the consummate Agatha Christie book, the benchmark for the whodunit. Each of the characters is nicely portrayed by accomplished actors. The pacing, the subdued dialogue, all make this film work, . I relish this author and the movies and movie portrayals of her books.

Wow that was not a good ending.

is a very charming movie, thought in fact, deceptive respect the novel
epitrato 2 years ago
what a bad ending and a horrible screenplay...
the NOVEL was the best I have ever read. Poetic justice was so well written in Dame Agatha Christie's book while the film and the video game it all ruined the concept of the book.
Shame on it.
That film is an insult to the author with a sick hollywood ending.
LordZeratul86 2 years ago

"Desyat negrityat " is the best. just watch it f you want the real thing!
darynakiev 2 years ago
I have only read the play, and I thought the movie wasn't as good. It was too vauge on some details, plus the judge wasn't shot by Lombard. Also, what was the point of having a different man other than Lombard be there? It added nothing to the story really. But kudos to whoever put this up, I liked it nonetheless
DramaticCadet 2 years ago
The trouble with most of these movies is that all the endings are the same as this one. We need a good one to end like the book.
PhillipCreeper 2 years ago
ooh... better ending than the book. I like it when more than just the villian does the scheming. smart lombard. I couldn't believe the book. vera shooting him and then killing herself... maybe women were portrayed as easily frazzled and stupid back then, but not so much now. the book's ending would be disappointing in a remake nowadays.
missa21 2 years ago
the ending sucked. doesn't vera hang herself at the end of the book when shes all alone?
niggasoncrack 2 years ago 4
Yes but for the play Agatha Christie wrote a completely different ending which they chose for the movie.
duobrown 2 years ago
i finished the book about five days ago, and when i got to this part i pictured vera to be on the last threads of her sanity. i really would like to see a modern remake of this novel.

oh wow, that ending was cold. Poor guy.
but I figured out who "U.N. Owen" was about half way through the movie. I wasn't toally positive, but I was pretty sure.
I really enjoyed this movie! I'm glad I watched it! The Wii game for it is really really lame though. So don't even bother playing that game

what made you believe it was the judge. just curious.
