Thanks for posting a great way how to bath a cat. I am a new mom of my persian kitten and I need to prepare to be a good mom. :) He'll be with me soon in new year. I'm going to visit him again this Sat. I miss him soo much. Pls say hi to ur cat, Sebastian. I think he's a very handsome man now.
@meaganfarr2 It really depends on the cat itself as well as the environment. If you notice your cat becoming oily or developing dandruff, that's a good sign he/she needs a bath. Most longhaired cats need baths as kittens, because they haven't learned to clean themselves properly yet and feces may get stuck in their fur, but that is something most will grow out of.
Impossible! My cat is 18 lbs of uncooperative feline who does not like to be held or touched! The worst partis that she is a domestic medium hair and really needs a bath!
@Drrezzin It definitely helps to begin bathing as a kitten. The older the cat is, the more difficult it can be to bathe them. There are some waterless shampoos on the market that could help with your cat. Just rub the shampoo into the fur, then wipe it off with a warm rag. You may also find that it's the tub full of water that puts your cat off. Some cats will allow you to wash them with a wet cloth, but will not get in a full tub.
@UrAliceOfHearts It depends on the cat. Typically, short hairs are fine without regular baths. Some younger cats may need to be bathed (or at least wiped down) before they learn to clean themselves, but that is not always necessary, especially if you have an older cat around who will take on the responsibility of bathing the cat. A short hair may also need to be bathed if he gets into something that needs washing off, but that is rare.
@jbaseballdream Not all cats do. Some longer haired cats or hairless cats need periodical bathing though, and the younger you start bathing them, the easier it is for both you and the cat! :)
Your cat is soo much calmer than mine :o

I'm afraid my cat will claw me and bite me. She will use anything including my arms to get out of the water.
