It may be hard to believe there is such a thing as "Christian satire", but the people closest to it are actually the ones holding it to the highest standard. Who else is gonna do it?
@Santaanacanyon Steve preached the truth. No man's gonna make a mockery of God. That is not post modernism. Post modernism is heresy. Steve preached the truth.
@Hogan10298 Yes, Steve did indeed. Steve is not making a mockery of God. He is making a mockery of post modernism. Steve was the ultimate satirist; occasionally speaking the absurdity of the opposing viewpoint, which is what this song is.
@jookypirate : thumbs up! Unfortunately, I think he's too smart for too many of his fellow believers. Tragic, really, his is an important voice for reform.
lol-I had this on cassette too! I loved Steve's amazingly intelligent, witty music from the first time I saw this vid. I remember him singing "Jim Morrison's Grave" too. Is he still around? He was a songwriting genius. Thankx so much for posting this!!!
After he made Squint in the early 90's. He went onto producing Six Pence none the Richer.
He also started his own label called Squint records. But it was bought by another record company. I have no clue what he's up to now. But I wish he'd put out a new Cd. Oh yeah. He also produced some of Guardians Last Cd's before they broke up. I did not like those Guardian Cd's as much.
Glad to see all your positive comments; I grew up on Steve Taylor, meeting him several times at Cornerstone in the 80s, and then almost ten years later on the Squint tour!
My wife and I have just sat and sung this song line for line......we now have teenagers of our own but there is no-one like Steve Taylor......a prophet!
If you ever read this Steve thanks for serving the church worldwide
I had always heard my parents talk about how they loved this video when it first came out, but I never actually saw it until now! It's awesome! Thanks for uploading!
Steve was so ahead of his time. Songs like "Sin for a Season" got me throught high school. Thanks for sharing this. Have you checked out The Second Chance Movie that Seve produced?
wow, Steve's music never gets old. What amazing insight & wit. Thanks for sharing Steve...if you see this We sure miss you. Wish you'd come back to us with more music!

Taylor was a conduit of sublime genius. Not one throw-away line, lyrically nor musically. Where are artists like this today?

Steve's voice (especially this song) helped to keep me from losing my mind and my faith in college. No softball lyrics from this man of God!

Another one of my favorites during my childhood. He made me into the man that I am today.

He's producing movies and other artists lately. He co-wrote and directed the movie "Second Chance," starring Michael W. Smith, a couple of years ago.
