  • Thank you Kai!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @mflolovesme The rewind crank winds the film back into the light tight cassette.

  • I have a question. I got my film developed yesterday and most of them have big white ovals covering the pictures... Or just colored ovals on a black background. I know the diana is supposed to have cool effects but this doesn't even show what i'm taking a picture of... I have looked at tons of other peoples pictures and no one seems to have this problem. Can anyone help me please!

  • I've got some problems rewinding the film. If Ihold down the rewind button and turn the rewind spool, I don't hear that noise you're supposed to hear and I'm pretty sure it's not rewinding the film. Can you help me?

  • @LaatHetMaar If there is no tension on the crank as you turn it to rewind the film, you may have a film misload problem, meaning the film never went through the camera. Normally, when you reach the end of the roll, the winder tension increases so that it no loner turns. Did this happen with you at the end of your roll?

  • @kaituba thank you for the tutorial video! after you're done rewinding the film, is the film counter supposed to go back to 0?

  • @misscalpis Unlike many 35mm cameras, the Mini doesn't auto-reset the film counter when you open the camera. It must manually be reset. When you unload the exposed roll of film, remove the exposed cassette, trip the shutter (this resets the counter), then drop in a new roll of film. The camera back must be off the camera to reset the film counter. If you forget to reset the counter after you loaded a new roll, you will have to take the camera back off and trip the shutter.

  • @kaituba ah. there goes the mystery of diana mini film counter. thank you! :)

  • @kaituba

First time i reloaded it i did forget to reset it.. what would have happened if id have kept taking photos?

Also the small black button on the bottom.. sometimes it sticks out and sometimes it doesn't?... is there something i'm doing wrong?

  • Total newbie on first roll. I know this camera is supposed to take 36 square frame shots... is that only if you have a 36 exposure film? At my store I was only able to find 24 exposure film. So does that mean I can only take 24 shots, or can I take more because they are square frame? I am so confused! Thanks.

  • @kahloholic It would seem that since square frames are smaller, you should get more images, but they made the smart choice of centering the square frame on a 35mm frame (24x36). This is smart because any standard 1-hour lab will be able to process and make prints. They aren't set up to print anything other than a standard 35mm frame. This is also why it's not a good idea to mix half frame images with square frame. They won't be able to use their auto equipment and may refuse to try make prints.

  • @kaituba Thank you for the advice! I have read so many horror stories of people trying to get photo labs to print their Diana Mini shots correctly, that I have decided to have the lab process the film only and give me uncut negatives. I will get a photo/negative scanner so I can control what is actually printed. :)

  • do i need to do this unloading in the dark? or darkroom etc?

  • @watsonere The camera and film cassette are designed to unload in the light. Make sure the film is completely rewound into the film cassette before opening the film back. You will feel a little pop, as the film comes off the take-up spool, and the tension in the rewind crank will become almost nothing, once the film is completely rewound.

  • Thanks for the tutorial.

Which film do you use mostly and which do you think works best to get the best results when you get your photos developed?

  • @inezvalx For my color stuff, for best color saturation, I like Fuji 400HD or Kodak Portra (ISO 400).

  • There were supposed to be 36 exposures but i forgot. This is my first toy camera. It went up to 54 exposures. I just realized and took it out. Will anything change?

  • @cheshirelat You probably have a 27 exposure roll, with the camera set to half frame (54 exposures). You will get 2 frames per print.

  • how many pictures can you take with it?

  • @TheDailyDerrek The number of photos depends on the number of exposures the roll of film has, usually 24 or 36. If you shoot half frame, double the number of exposures, 48 or 72.

  • Thankyou so much for this tutorial. Finally managed to rewind a film after ruining two previous! The sound on the video really helps because i though mine was broken when it was clicking like that

  • so im interested in getting a diana mini and i was wondering if any kind of 35mm film works or is there a special kind? what is the best kind?

  • hye,i got some problems here..i dont know whether my camera problem or my film,,when i developed my film to the shop, after a few days, they said that they cannot processing my film,it turns to zero..i cannot see the result of my picture by diana mini..it juz blank on that film..anyone help me please....im still new on this camera..

  • hi.got some problem here,,after i developed my film to the shop, after a few days, the result turns zero, they said that my film was spoiled,,n i waste my money just for processing the film but i still cannot see yet the result of picture by diana mini...help me please...is it film problem or my film?anyone help me....

  • Have you ever experienced not being able to push the rewind button in?

It doesn't move at all, whatever I do with it, seems like it's stuck.

My first roll of film got totally jammed, I have now loaded the second one, wondering wether I could do anything about that rewind button.

  • @dorotheacup Yes, it does happen from time to time. A firm push will usually release it, but if it refuses to be pushed in, there may be too much tension on the winding mechanism. If this is the case, you will have to take the camera in a completely dark room ( no light at all), unlock the camera back. This should allow the film cassette to move just enough to release some of the tension. Now push in the rewind button.Lock the camera back up. Now rewind the film normally in the light.

  • How do I get the counter back to 0 after unloading the film?

  • @GatoPoder With no film in the camera, and the camera back removed, trip the shutter to reset the film counter. Then load the film.

  • @kaituba

    What is the shutter for?

  • @EliRod003 the shutter is the thing that opens when you take a pic to let light onto the frame...DUH

  • this camera is shit.

i didnt press the stupid little button, and i turned the crank first and it broke. fml.

  • @cammo6901 how is that the cameras fault?

  • hi my film in my diana mini has 36 exposures, how do i know when its done, just when the counter get to 36?

  • @jakesakook The winder will not wind anymore, and the counter will usually be around 36, maybe not exactly 36.

  • ee thanks!

  • Thank you!!
