  • A lesson in how to play rock n roll guitar.

  • camadas wonderland 1985 cross the 49 th anytimeu want greatness knows no borders he probably has come up since then i just dont follow this stuff like i once did

  • Who cares about where, when, who or anything else. This is the real deal. KICK ASS

    Enjoy it while you can.

  • Some how Don Felder is here? Funny

  • Thanks for the great clip. That's Don Felder on second guitar.

  • I honestly can't remember about the weather. But the thing that stands out in my is how the band would seamlessly segue from one tune to another. The arrangements were really well thought out. I loved the James Gang, but I've always thought that Barnstorm never received its due. It seems like you never hear anyone talk about that band, but I thought it was a great vehicle for Joe Walsh.

  • @kmsmith49 Man, I can't believe that I found some kindred souls in here. Like you, I strongly feel that Barnstorm never got it's due. Of all the concerts that I've seen, and at age 57 I've seen a bunch, it was the best one I've ever experienced. I saw them in Lincoln, Nebr. in '73. They blew a sold-out house out of their seats. Hard working band...always gave you more than your money's worth. People often don't realize how hard guys like this work. I'd love to chat with Walsh.

  • My band covered this sing about 15 years ago and I insisted that it sound EXACTLY like this. I was a tyrant about it. The keyboard player agred with me and we pulled it off perfectly, exept for the vocals. The part at the end is so emotional and has so much feeling it is indescribable.

  • This really sounds like the same live track from You Can't Argue With A Sick Mind. Just the album must be directly off the sound board.

  • Don't look now, Joe, but there's a Possum humping the back of your head!

  • I remember seeing Barnstorm at Cincinnati Gardens and also in Dayton, Ohio. This video really illustrates how good they were. Their arrangements were always great - almost orchestral sounding at times. And the band really allowed Joe to stretch out on guitar. "Meadows" was one of the better tunes the band did.

  • @kmsmith49 in Dayton did it snow and cancell and a couple days later play? He ended the concert with Get Back by the Beatles? I was there. I am from Northern Ky.

  • Joe and Don giving a prelude for their seminal Hotel California instrumental.

  • Life is short. This is timeless. Enjoy!!

  • CLASSIC Joe F...Walsh!!! Man, it's been Awhile!!! What a Backing Band.....this is as good as it got for me in mid-70's. Looking & Sounding just as Great, at the moment, to be quite honest!!! LONG LIVE JOE & HE STILL GETS MY VOTE FOR PRESIDENT......FOR LIFE!!! HE HAS BEEN SO GOOD......FOR SO VERY LONG!!!

  • The riff during the verse sounds like "Woman From Tokyo", which was recorded a year earlier.

  • @Mraodom1966

That riff was first played in a duo private jam session by Walsh and Ritchie Blackmore of Deep Purple. They both liked it and agreed to use it in future respective songs thus....Walsh and Blackmore are both credited.

  • @beyondonethousand ...good to know, I always wondered about that

  • @beyondonethousand Would be cool if you link us a source. As far as Walsh has commented on the subject he began working on Meadows prior to him leaving The James Gang. He doesn't mention any collaboration with Ritchie.

  • @Papatorrejano

I will look for the source and post it on this thread.

  • TOO COOL!!! Those are NOT bell-bottoms the bass player has on, you are hallucinating....

  • This was from a Don Kirshner's Rock Concert TV show sometime in the mid 1970's. I remember watching it, awesome.

That is Willie Weeks on bass, Jay fergeson on keyboards and of course Don Felder on guitar.

It is available on a live Joe Walsh CD.

  • 5:30 doesn't get any better than this

  • Is that Jay Furguson playing piano????

  • My favorite Joe Walsh song. Put on the vinyl and it just sounds so so amazing.

  • Is that Alphonso Johnson on bass?

  • @BassGuyGG

    That's Willie Weeks.

  • it must be cold, where he is.

  • Discovered Your music & talent in 2007...was a busy mom in the 70's...had 6 children...now at 72 I am a super fan of you, Joe, and all the Eagles. You are my favorite...we have a similar history factor in common...keep on strumming! Saw you and the bank in 2009 in Boston in your "white shirts"...a special night in my life...all best wished for you to keep on the success train.

  • I saw the Barnstorm tour in 74, it was an awesome time to be 17 and living in the best time to be a kid in the USA,Nam was over and it was party time,Too bad greed and maggots took over.

  • Comment removed

  • @chihawks2010 It is not just greed, it is also laziness

  • Jimmy Page moment 6:25

  • As soon as a new effect came out Joe Walsh went and got it, little do people know, the strat that he's using sounds so beefy because of an Ibanez Tube Screamer, u can hear it on his album, So What, aswell as You Cant Argue With A Sick Mind, he was also one of the first to use the MXR Phase 90 on Barnstorm, he didn't make these effects famous but he was the first.

  • God dammit I was born in the wrong era!

  • Found this LP on dad's collection. Really nice.

Indeed, Vitale plays great and the Walsh/Felder duet is excellent.

I would like and hope that Walsh and Felder would tour and play some old classics together.

And the end solo is to die for. So rare and unique, only heard it in this record. No studio and not on Eagles concerts.

  • Andy Newmark: drums; Joe Vitale: Drums and timpani; Willie Weeks: bass; Don Felder: guitar; David Mason: organ; Jay Ferguson: piano; Reebop: percussion; JOE WALSH!!

  • It's Joe Vitale on drums.

  • Who plays the drums?!! It's so great!!! (Yes, everything else is also great in this perfomance - so much good vibes from the seventies! - but I'm totally thrilled by the drums.)

  • I was 14 when this aired and I remember it blew me away. I'm 49 now, still have "You can't argue with a sick mind" on vinyl from 1976 and have been listening to it all along. I always wondered if it was Felder who played the first solo and this confirms it. It is one of my alltime favorite solos. Many thanks for posting.

  • SMOKIN' HOT

  • Joe Walsh hands down makes the greatest "Guitar Faces" EVER! :)

  • 327 views? There needs to be 327 MILLION views.

  • How Ya Doin? Kick ass!

  • I can't stop listening to this. This should be required listening for any college kid majoring in music. The drum work alone is amazing.

  • @BARRIEMOREBARLOW This is also available on the 'Don Kirschner's Rock Concert" DVD box set. If memory serves me correctly, this performance of "Joe Walsh & Friends" aired on ABC TV sometime around Thanksgiving, 1975.

Yeah, this is amazing. This might be Joe Walsh's finest hour.

  • @rayjr62

Exactly what ray just said. The concert was "Joe Walsh and Friends". Hard to get. These guys were just having fun in this concert.

  • The reason I am so adimate about this song is that my band played this just like it sounds here and it took a lot of work to get it right. I never in my life thought I would see the live version. To whoever posted this, I love you.

  • I need more of this concert. Where can I get it?

  • This is the actual version that is on the "You Can't Argue With a Sick Mind" live album.

  • You don't understand how awesome this is.

  • @BARRIEMOREBARLOW

I do understand brother. This performance IS awesome. Walsh is just a great musician
