  • I really like this song, man.

  • Great shots of the Fungi!

  • @FreidasGarden Thanks!

  • Really love the music. So much feeling in it. Awesome!

  • @keytoothed Thank you!

  • Ooooooook! I think I just retired from the music scene!

  • @MrRandomWritings Yes, people often want to chop their ears off and never risk exposure to music again after hearing me play.

  • @kenrg Pardon?!

  • Well, I thought this one was going to be a joke about the inside of a buddy's shower or something like that...instead it's a beautiful visual treat.

  • Well, if it were about shower fungus, I wouldn't have to travel to any "buddy's" house ... But don't tell my wife I told you that...

  • Love the music--that;'s gotta be your new twelve string!!

  • You got that right! Two tracks of the 12-string (one straight, one with echo), bass, & midi-keyboard.

But the music video I'm posting tomorrow is all you...

  • Hey there...We will have fairs and festivals for just about anything. hehehe

Good excuse for a little libation, food, fun and maybe learn something! ;0)

  • Exactly - 52 weeks in a year, 52 excuses for a celebration!

  • Many wild specimens, I see. Beautiful, poisonous, edible, and just plain weird.

2:43 looks good. Did you ate some of that?

  • I didn't eat any of them, actually - I just like to look ;^)

  • I think this would be a good time to recommend watching "Paul Stamets: 6 ways mushrooms can save the world" (watch?v=XI5frPV58tY)

  • I'll check it out!

  • A fungus fair! That is fascinating, I've never heard of such a thing, but very cool indeed. I like mushrooms on my pizza lol And, down here in Florida, the farmers have to chase interlopers out of their cow pastures... just friendly folk looking for mushrooms I guess lol Sorry, I'm in a zany mood today... but excellent video, very much enjoyed!

  • There are fairs for everything, if you know where to look ;^)

  • You left out the part with the magic mushrooms!

  • For some reason that footage came out all distorted and with no time-code.

  • Neat stuff!!! Not a lot of fungus out here in the desert, but I recall a lot of fungus on some hikes I did in the Priest Lake area of northern Idaho!

  • I imagine desert fungi must be quite different, based on the lack of moisture. Idaho, I'm sure must be mold heaven.

  • I liked how the various booths and displays were set up throughout the fair, definitely fungus sway.

  • Very fungusy, very Santa Cruz ;^)

  • Enjoyed it amigo... the red ones were gorgeous.

    Cheers... J.

  • There were some wild colors - Glad you enjoyed!

  • that looks fun!...gi

  • :^)

    Thanks!

  • Wow Ken - you really are a Fun Guy! :) It actually looks very interesting; this mushroom lover would have enjoyed it.

  • Very interesting - Glad you enjoyed!

  • I like the music, and January 9-10 isn't all that long ago... I'm still editing and posting videos that were shot last April :)

  • True - And I have older footage that's still awaiting editing, like stuff from June '08...

    Glad you enjoyed the music!

  • There's a fungus among us...

  • A couple hundred of them!

  • The music was very "mushroomy"... how appropriate! Well done.

  • Thanks muchly. I enjoyed making it.

  • Damn. It's a Mushroom Kingdom Paradise. Bet that Mario and Luigi would be having fun with stuff there. :P

  • That reference didn't even occur to me ;^) Maybe some of the younger attendees were thinking it. My references tended more towards Jefferson Airplane.

  • LOLZ. :P I see what you mean. :) :P :D

  • Great video Ken. I love mushrooms & find them pretty fascinating. One of mothers natures great freebies.

    Don't eat the exhibits!

This reminds me of that old saying about how governments treat us all like mushrooms. They keeep us in the dark & feed us bullshit.

  • Thanks - Yes, fascinating, but I'll pass on the "yummy" side for the most part. The exhibit hall was a little on the dark side, but luckily it didn't smell much of shit.

  • A mushroom goes into a bar, the bartender says "Get out! We don't serve your kind!" The mushroom says "But why not -- I'm a fun guy!" Fascinating video, Ken -- well done.

  • Thank you for telling that joke (so I won't have to).

  • Oooo. That gave me flashbacks. I remember the 2007 video. Lovely music.

  • Thanks - I was wondering if anybody would remember the previous version and figured you might be one of the two or three who would. Glad you liked the music - Leslie heard it and said, "I hear a Peri Urban influence there." Her favorite lyric ever is still, "fish tank technicians dream of caviar."

  • lol I'd forgotten that!

  • Fungi is its own Kingdom, set apart from animal and plant and non-nucleated single-celled organisms. I was wish I was as trusting as you....The fungus cannot be trusted. They have a manipulative manner of getting inside a person. Eventually they grow on you.

  • (correction) "I wish I was as trusting as you." It's late. The Ambien kicked in. kidding. Loved your background music. Wish I had the discipline to learn guitar.

  • Oh, I went, I photographed, and even touched one or two, but I never trusted at all, and certainly never ingested. I've learned from that mistake. And thank you for your kind words about the music.

  • I ate a mushroom once.

I saw the devil in a geranium.

    Never again.

  • Me too!

  • I ate a mushroom once on my way to Disneyland. I saw things that Walt never dreamed of.

  • Fungus is our friend:-)

  • And we don't eat our friends, right?

  • We arent THAT good of friends!

  • To be fair, Gus was fun.

    I'm sorry.

  • Slightly too subtle a pun for first thing in the morning. I'm going back to bed... Then I'll laugh.

  • I've never enjoyed eating mushrooms, but this fair seemed pretty interesting. Did you get one of the grow your own mushrooms at home? I'd tried it just to see if it could be done :)

  • I'm not a mushroom eater myself, but I'm still fascinated by all the varieties. My sister-in-law tried the grow-your-own box and it didn't work out as well as planned. But worth the try ;^)

  • Looks like a fun event good editing too.

  • It was, and thank you!

  • woah! :D good!

  • Thanks!

  • thats random

  • Life is random.

  • LIFE itself is a random mushroom

  • beatyful!! nice video..

  • Thank you!

  • Nice music. It fit the video well.

  • Thanks!

  • This is an extraordinary video! I love it! I would love to have visited this exhibition, fascinating. TY for making this video, well done. -Rob

  • We've gone a few times over the years. It's always very much the same, but always interesting and new at the same time.

  • Magic! And great, great, great music!

  • Thank you! I'm kinda pleased with the results.

  • I think I entered my comments backwards... hope that isn't bad form... VEG

  • It's okay, I read this one first!

  • Wow and I thought people did stranger things here... he he he

  • Nothing strange here... just people eating stuff that grows randomly in wet shit.

  • Great tunage btw... perhaps I will sing along with it...

  • You know all the lyrics, right?

  • appreciate the quality video

  • Appreciate the appreciation ;^)

  • just gorgeous. i would love the opportunity to try different varieties i knew were safe.

  • The key word there is "safe" - So many of the safe ones have nearly identical poisonous twins. I find it fascinating to go to the fair and see them all, but I ain't eating anything I find on the ground during a hike.

  • The music was very cool. I really liked it - is this you branching out or have you inserted your own compositions in other videos, too?

  • Branching out, I suppose. Combining a couple of hobbies in ways I haven't before. We'll see how long I can keep it up ;^)

  • Most of them looks delicious. Devinne in soups- yummayumma :3

  • Even some of the poisonous ones look pretty good!

  • Isn't this rather the wrong time of year for fungi, though?? I always associate that with late summmer and autumn / fall.. :) Don't know about the States, but in Sweden you're allowed to pick freely anywhere you like.. as long as it's not withing visual distance of a house, I believe.. I used to pick a lot of mushrooms in my younger days..

  • Around here it's the perfect time for shrooming. I could have shot most of those varieties just around my yard! I think it's legal to pick any of them, but only advisable to eat a few ;^)

  • That last bit is very true.. :)

  • Your such a fun guy.. ahem.. :) Interesting show but they needed a larger location, it didn't look as if they had mush room... :)

  • I'd reply to your comment, but I found it really sporing ;^)

  • Did I see a hobbit and a couple leprechauns sitting atop some of those shrooms?

...or did this video just have an "effect" on me...??

Nice tune, btw. Fits this nicely.

    :-)

  • There were hobbits all around. It is Santa Cruz, after all. Glad you like the tune - I was going for a kind of psychedelic folk sound and I think I hit it.
