Yeah, Cole was probably last, but he was with 3 legends on this shit. It's cool that they think so big of him to put him on the song. Jay Elec though!!
Yeah lol J Cole wasn't too great on this song. But I don't think he's anywhere close to as good as everyone else on the song. Especially Mos Def, he killed the shit out of that verse!
hard to say jcole had the "worst" verse, it all depends on what you like, jcole had some good lines, but kweli ate the hell out of it...jcole just has the fresh style, but these other cats are straight up nasty lyricists!
@MrCommenterguy only for tha fact they both rap and make their own beats. I could pull that same comparison with Tha Alchemist or Havoc... I feel what you sayin tho
@Kayo954 Yeah, Cole's wordplay is incredible. I didn't say I thought so, just what people generally say. I don't listen to Ye enough to make that statement. Honestly, I only started really feeling Kanye when I listened to Watch The Throne, then I worked my way backwards to previous albums. My real first impression was 'Stronger' and I thought he was nothing special. I like him now though, good enough to listen to atleast but not phenomenal.
@MrCommenterguy Word I hear ya. If you just gettin on 'Ye, def check "Tha College Dropout" & "Late Registration". Graduation & 808s are good for there own purposes. Graduation was def a banger compared 2 Curtis' wack ass album "CURTIS". 808 & Heartbreak is only a hit if you like concepts with odd creativity, sorta like Common's electro-Hop-techno albums. Dark Fantasy was pretty fresh. Watch Tha Throne however, I felt was a Hov-Yeezy ego boost album... two rich black men rappiing about being that
@Kayo954 kl I've listened to my dark twisted fantasy it's good I have it. Did you like WWT when you say it was an 'ego boost'? I will here graduation, that's the one where he out sold 50 cent in a bet right? kl- and 808 i'll listen to that.
@MrCommenterguy Word, Graduation was tha one that beat 5-O [atleast in US sales I believe]. And let me clarify, I fucks with Watch Tha Throne, but it aint a classic. Jay's always been about ego, and Ye pretty much followed when it came 2. I loved tha Rza produced "New Day" though. Favorite track on tha album, B.
@Kayo954 Yeah, sometimes jay can have meaning about black pride but otherwise, yah, him and ye are just ego. But tracks like murder to excellence and welcome to the jungle did have meaning. No it's definitely not a classic, not lyrical enough. And yeah, New Day was DOPE, what can you expect from RZA production? I should make a top five producers list, he would be on it.
@Kayo954 Oh and safe, about my top ten artists? yeah, best I could come up with but still slightly unsure, too many dope people I missed out. Jay Electronica looks like he's gonna be on there as soon as he drops that album, real talk.
@schwam41 yeah, elect is the type of artist to say something and it never happens :( but the album is complete, he said it himself and so did jay z- i dont know how much longer it can take!
An A+ Rapper can never go mainstream nowadays. Radio, MTV, and the people won't let it happen right now. It is just whatever the set objectives the media has for music today. The people started to accept mainstream notions of success, Now it has fully taken over. The people that love shit rap/hip-hop need to understand they need to stop this before all the great underground rappers go back to what they are rapping about. The Slums and The Streets. We are outnumbered people. Sad to say but true.
If you like artists like Lupe Fiasco, Mos Def, Nas, and J. Cole, I think you'll like my music too. Check out my singles “Man On Fire” and “Microphone”, and tell me what you think. Any feedback is appreciated. I promise I don't disappoint.
dont get me wrong i respect Mos Def to the fullest but i think he had the worst verse on the song. Jay electronica killed it, talib came in second, and cole third. Mos Def still went hard on this though, i just feel he didnt do as well the rest of the MC's on this track. Cole definitely did not have the worst verse on the song though.
This was the best posse cut of 2010, every year has one.
Really you've got like three different sub-cultures of hip hop represented in this song with J.Cole's style, Jay Electronica's style, and Mos Def and Talib's styles.
Mos Def and J. Cole reppin two of my favorite labels G.O.O.D. Music and Rocnation and Talib, Jay Electronica, and Hi Tek are showin everyone what kind of lyricists they are.
@suhaybhafiz I Think Some Of You Are A Bit Confused. You Can't Really Say Cole Had The Worst Verse On This Song. Lyrically Everybody Probably Did Better Then Cole, But It Takes More Then Just Nice Lyrics To Truly Kill Your Verse. You Need Delivery, Flow, Emotion Etc. J Cole Definitely Had The Best Delivery. But Overall Everybody Killed It
I love me some J. Cole but I hope that nigga drops no more comparisons of him to Pau Gasol. As a Laker fan I know that nigga is soft as hell. Still a Cole World though.
@Blackhandles He only says that because he says "he is the center of attention" and pau gasol is one of the most popular centers in the NBA and it kinda rhymes can you imagine changeing that to dwight howard? :\ that would sound retarded
I love that "Oh Yes indeed, I like this!" that Talib says while wrapped up in the intro to the beat. Then, when he gets to the main melody of it, he drops some monster bars on it. I just looove that!
the game had they pajamas on aka they were about to go to sleep, nas told us sleep is the cousin of death. nas also told us hip hop is dead. aka the game was about to die. J COLE! the hip hop saviour!
@MegaPROSE Jay Elec was okay, ok lyrics, flow was ok, could've been better? GTFOH Ja Electronica killed this joint!!!!! You must not have any knowledge of esoteric sciences therefore you can't relate!! imo
@MegaPROSE My evaluation exactly. Talib Kweli, J.Electronica, Mos Def, then J. Cole in that order.
Talib's verse had beautiful metaphors, plenty of substance, and punchlines to round it out; Electronica's verse was dope, reality-based storytelling with jewels here and there and a nice delivery to complement; Mos Def brought clever wordplay to the table with substance and a little braggadocio; J.Cole's verse was mostly self-glorification, but he did have dope delivery and some clever puns.
If you have time, and you want to hear NEW and GOOD music, it would really be appreciated if you checked out some songs on my page. Plenty of original songs, and remixes(just did one to this beat). 16 year old rapper from Brooklyn ; season of giving so show some love plz =)

The 5 people that thumbs down on this tune were not listening to the same thing as 335 this is a great tune like bboystyles650 said the song sucks after 3:47
J.Cole had good flow just like everyone else...but he is last in wordplay...that shit was dumb...in a bad way,,,Kweli was good...Jay called out my WhoDat Nation...thank you....and of course, Mos with the usual rap....some guy who commented earlier...he didn't think critically to Mos' verse...otherwise he would have said Mos was just "rhyming"....
@phester061594452 are you joking?? Cole murders the hell out of this track. All four guys are insane lyricists, but Jay was definitely the weakest. Mos and Talib are all-time greats no doubt, but J Cole is on his way up there
look, now i know that ur entitled to ur own opinion and everything
but DID YOU HEAR JAY ELECTRONICA ON THIS TRACK?
he completely murdered this shit, he did way better than cole on this one for sure.
Infact, i would even go as far to say that he did the best on this song because he took this track from a different angle. He completely put us in his shoes, talking about his habits and life, then talking about how he sees the world from his point of view.
@ReaIMusic Yeah Jay Electronica is one of kind. I agree he did have the best verse. His imagery is stunning. But Cole had the best mic presence and delivery and good wordplay on top of that too..
@abcliqor i was just talking bout the song. i ain't say jay elect ain't dope. exhibit's a & c r awesome, but j cole & talib bodied him on this track. just spittin facts.
@WhtMike2006 jay elect was nice, but he was saying hot shit bout random shit: going 2 new york. if he rapped a better topic, he prolly would have a better verse than kweli. cole really had the best verse, cuz flow-wise, worldplay, topic, energy, and even arguably lyrically. mos is great, but this verse, he just was rhyming good. he won't saying shit. kweli was saying something meaningful & the muhammad ali tatyana line was sick. take out them overall & just judge off the verse, u'll c i'm right.
Yeah, Cole was probably last, but he was with 3 legends on this shit. It's cool that they think so big of him to put him on the song. Jay Elec though!!

Lets get something straight,
KWELI killed everyone on this track, lyrics, flow and wordplay wise.
Jay Elec was okay, ok lyrics, flow was ok, could've been better
J Cole shows no variety, all I hear in his rhymes is how people were sleeping on him and bitches and his dick....switch it up some
And Mos....the usual, came off uninspired like he was barely trying and flow was a lil off but, lyrics still rock
If I had to rate...KWELI #1
Jay Elec #2
Mos Def #3
J Cole #4

J.Cole had good flow just like everyone else...but he is last in wordplay...that shit was dumb...in a bad way,,,Kweli was good...Jay called out my WhoDat Nation...thank you....and of course, Mos with the usual rap....some guy who commented earlier...he didn't think critically to Mos' verse...otherwise he would have said Mos was just "rhyming"....
phester061594452 1 year ago
@phester061594452 are you joking?? Cole murders the hell out of this track. All four guys are insane lyricists, but Jay was definitely the weakest. Mos and Talib are all-time greats no doubt, but J Cole is on his way up there

@MisterIanFarrell J. Cole is shit on this track--sounds just like Drizzy or some of that shit. Electronica kills it.

@MisterIanFarrell
look, now i know that ur entitled to ur own opinion and everything
but DID YOU HEAR JAY ELECTRONICA ON THIS TRACK?
he completely murdered this shit, he did way better than cole on this one for sure.

But Cole had the best mic presence and delivery and good wordplay on top of that too..
diddisdiddat 8 months ago
@diddisdiddat Mos had the best verse

@tyreesemj1 U SERIOUS? Jay elect is prob one of the most dopest niggas in hip hop right now.
abcliqor 1 year ago 3
@abcliqor i was just talking bout the song. i ain't say jay elect ain't dope. exhibit's a & c r awesome, but j cole & talib bodied him on this track. just spittin facts.
tyreesemj1 1 year ago
@tyreesemj1 Nah fam Crazy. I had Jay, Cole, Mos, then Kweli last haha.
WhtMike2006 1 year ago
@WhtMike2006 jay elect was nice, but he was saying hot shit bout random shit: going 2 new york. if he rapped a better topic, he prolly would have a better verse than kweli. cole really had the best verse, cuz flow-wise, worldplay, topic, energy, and even arguably lyrically. mos is great, but this verse, he just was rhyming good. he won't saying shit. kweli was saying something meaningful & the muhammad ali tatyana line was sick. take out them overall & just judge off the verse, u'll c i'm right.

hands down,hi tek is one of the illest,i think Dilla would bump his shit, matter of fact,he prolly did....WHOOmp,here it is!
