I heard nothing but Sawed Offs being shot and names popping up on my screen in a match of KOTH. Im glad they made a Retro Lance because in GoW2 the Lancer/Hammerburst could not win a shotgun duel it was always this math. Gnasher > Hammerburst/Lancer then with the new gun. RetroLancer > Gnasher/ Sawed Off it does me great killing ppl who use the Sawed off finally with a Rifle instead of fighting Fire w/Fire.

i cant believe there is a complaint about this. how is it a shotgun battle when after one shot the one with the sawed off has to run away and reload? how is it a shotgun battle when the sawed off has 4 bullets (5 second reload in between) and the gnasher has 16 with a fast reload? how is it a shotgun battle when the one with the sawed off has to be touching the one with the gnasher in order to get a kill while 3 shots from the gnasher can down anyone instantly.

Here is a reply I got a little while ago from Epics own Lee Perry about the sawed-off shotgun "@Jason24cf @epiccog sorry man, that is all how it's meant to work. It doesn't require perfect aim, and "melee range" just means "close".

So there you have it. Drop the SOS vs Gnasher and deal with it.

Can't just compare short and melee range. But in the case of SOS it doesn't matter.

The melee range of gnasher is 0 to 300, SOS is 0 to 256.

The short range of gnasher is 300 to 1000, SOS is 256 to 512.

Gib range of SOS is 512 due to its 1x multiplier at both.

Gib range of gnasher is 300.

Basically, it means SOS has a gib range about 1.7x longer that of gnasher.

Heres what I think. Use the sawed-Off shotgun to oounter the Sawed-Off shotgun. Epic is clearly trying to mae this game more casual because they can make more money that way. If a person who only plays xbox for maybe an hour a night got on gears and got his shit pushed in every match he wouldnt want to play it thus epic would lose money. Epic did this so that they would be able to compete with sales for MW3 and BF3.

He says maximum damage is 500 with the gnasher with 1 shot and the players have 600, meaning that you can only kill someone with the gnasher in two shots. Before you believe this person please get a couple controllers, another friend and do this simple experiment. One of you stand there and the other walk up to your friend point blank range with the gnasher, pull the trigger. And what do you see? 1 shot kill.

It's pretty easy to take someone out with the gnasher if you're skilled. It almost seems easier to kill someone with the gnasher than the sawed off because you only get 1 shot with the sawed off before having to wait 3 seconds for a reload. If you're constantly owned with the sawed off then you might need to get some skill because I've owned the game since it's release and I've been killed by a sawed off 9 times. If you let people get close enough to use it, that's your problem so stop crying.

if a player is tactically naive they will get fucked up by the other player no matter what weapon they use

they could carry 2 sawed offs and still lose

Again I feel these numbers just point out what everybody already knew...that the DBS gibs you within certain range, and does nothing outside that range, which is slightly longer than melee range, no matter what Epic says.

Also...this is what people wanted from the DBS...the damage is this way so that it can't down you anymore. This is the change players WANTED

I use gnasher alot and the only way your going to get a kill on a SOS with a Gnasher is if you active 2-4 shots before the battle and even then if they miss they can still run away before getting downed and reload.

Ive been doing this for the last 2 days and have barely been killed by SOS 1vs1 but they still sometimes get away.

I think everyone is missing the biggest factor of introducing the sawed off and "dedicated servers" to gears 3. I don't think that these servers will last long-just like the beta- and this new weapon is the host equalizer. They basically threw it in there so people stop bitching about host and can actually get a kill instead of going 0-5 or now..0-3. Meh, I don't like it at all.

i think you must be missing something as I can still oneshot people with the gnasher, if going by your info being 100% accurate then that wouldnt be possible ever, as much as I think the SO is an abused nooby weapon, your facts are flawed as they must be missing some factors. Have a look for those factors (headshot multiplyer, body multiplyer, idk) or explain why oneshots from the gnasher still work even without actives.

Love the vid and how it explains that the sawed off is OP, but for me, the true bs factor is x1 damage mod at SHORT RANGE. Its unbelievable. 500 x .75 vs. 800 x 1 at short range is just absolute bullshit. Considering thats a gib range of around what, 6 ft? I'd say thats just a tad OP....

There isn't supposed to be a damage arc for the sawed off dummy! Also its supposed to be MORE POWERFUL, it shoots two shots at a time, not one. Also, the gnasher can gib people all the time up close and get headshots all the time up close. I think what you found means next to nothing to be honest. The Gnasher is supposed to have a damage arc, the sawed is NOT supposed to have one, thats what they said and thats how it was intended.
