  • also wohne in leipzig

  • stick a honda engine in the fucker and then see what time it does fords suck!!!!

  • @TheRabbitstoper ok vtec boy

  • Comment removed

  • @TheRohBoat fucking right I am , VTEC not zetec and don't forget it fords are fucking shit my b16b eats 222bhp focus st's its funny really 5 pistons and a turbo and still it can't keep up with a N/A 1.6 16v stick that in your pipe and smoke it you battyhole

  • @TheRabbitstoper isnt a b16b actually 185hp/117 tq?

By the way the 2 liter DURATEC engine (Cosworth components) is a inline nasp 4 cyclinder with 263 horsepower. So if you put your honda engine in there, it would no longer be called the r500 more like an r365 or something

  • @TheRabbitstoper how could it possibly be faster?

  • I like the simplicity of this car. If you make a mistake-you die. Just simple as that.

  • lol bin so geil

  • Faster than the Veyron.

Wait, what? Did I read that right? It did a lap faster than the Veyron? Damn!

  • so ich bin erregt

  • This car needs to be added to GT5 instead of just the Fireblade.

  • alanaroc aftossssssss

  • it had almost better times than bugatti, or did it have better ones?

makes 0-100 kph (0-60 mph) in under 3 seconds!

  • I don't like Caterhams. They're absolute rubbish IMO. Sure they're fast but everything else is just so boring and lame; I say the R500 is a very uninspiring piece of kit. Thank goodness I can choose an Ariel Atom instead, which is so much better in every way!

  • @kj7687 Either troll or stupid.

  • @kj7687 The Caterham/Lotus 7 was designed by a genius 50 years ago. The Atom will be forgotten in 15.

  • @gweflj The Atom will be forgotten in 15 years by idiots/nobodies who deny reality (yourself, for example) perhaps, but any true motorsport enthusiast will recognize it instantly as the epic masterpiece that it is, as the best four wheeled motor vehicle of this millennium.

  • @kj7687 boring???????hahahaha u never drive a caterham before

  • Proof that power to weight beats out any other type of numbers...

  • who noticed the camera crew laughing at 0:25 at stigs indicator lights?

  • My dad bought one of these and we have just finished building it. Taking it for its first track day today, can't wait to powerslide it :?

  • the atom 300 is front wheel drive and caterham is rear wheel drive

  • @EVERLIVERPOOL

    no

    just

    no

  • @EVERLIVERPOOL FWD.......no it's not, they're both rwd

  • @EVERLIVERPOOL any idiot can plainly see that there are absolutely no drive shafts connecting the front wheels of the atom at all. are you dumber than an idiot?

  • fastest cars ever: Ariel Atom V8 1.15.1 Bugatti Veyron SS 1.16.8 Gumpert Apollo 1.17.1 Ascari A10 1.17.3 Koenigsegg CCX (with Top Gear spoiler) 1.17.6 Noble M600 1.17.7 Pagani Zonda F Roadster 1.17.7 Caterham R500 1.17.9 Bugatti Veyron 1.18.3 Pagani Zonda F 1.18.4
  • @hussein2050 You missed BMW S1000RR @ 1.16.1 2nd fastest

  • @racefactory900 who say ?where do u get the source ?ur father huh?

  • @EVERLIVERPOOL Fuck you on about? Top gear of course... Atom V8 and S1000RR

  • @racefactory900 but did they say 1.16.1?dun anyhow claim...cunt

  • @EVERLIVERPOOL Lol yes otherwise I wouldn't have cited such a random time. No need for that language now!

  • @racefactory900 sorry man

  • Our race car is essentially the same. And I wouldn't swap it for anything else. Ever.

Wish I got the chance to drive it though :(

  • THE STIG IS A COMPLETE BADASS!

  • Does anyone think this would be faster than the Ariel Atom 500 V8?

  • @joesp1998 It isn't.

  • @mcgherkinstudios Yeah :(

  • @joesp1998 the answer is no! Ariel Atom 500 V8 did in 1.15.1(1st place) while Caterham R500 did in 1.17.9(8th place)

  • @BENDOON23

A Ford Duratec Engine that was desinged in Germany, Assembled in Spain and tuned by Cosworth in the UK. Yay for Ford....

  • does this have powersteering?

  • @gruhonjic No I think.

  • caterhams are like f1 cars in the 60s... it'll beat the shit out every other sports car

  • Dear santa i've been a very good boy and i was wondering if.............

  • ford power

  • Best top gear power lap. Ever. Sure some are faster but this more fun to watch, the car right on the edge doing corners at mach 4

  • Is that really Michael Schumacher? He was on the show as "the Stig" once but.......

  • @paullubliner Nope. I know who it is (actually, everyone does) but I won't spoil it ^^

  • this thing is worth every penny it costs. very rare thing in superior performance category...

  • lol

    how they call koenigsegg...

    i could cry :D

  • @13teen2day Big words from the little dumbass. I hope you do work experience better than you take criticism kid.

  • @13teen2day Maybe you should stay in the classroom and learn how to spell it.

  • I wonder how fast it would be if they fitted it with some fancy f1 style aerodynamic kit.

  • ford power

  • @BENDOON23 lol, you mean caterham weight

  • @opawari Yes and no... a few years ago caterham said that the new cars share no common components with any old ones. Also, with the crs, the chassis production was heavily revised, finally became completely metric, and welded much better due to the new production technique. But, it's all been continuous development from the Lotus 7 Series 3, which is what The Prisoner used, and what Caterham started off with.

  • For an extra 10,000 pounds, they will deliver it with a flux capacitor!

  • i actually got to drive in the exact car the stig was in and i tell you what the caterham is an awsome drive

  • Anyone know what axle they're using on that I wanna build one..

  • @GavinS1965 It's independent, top spec caterhams aren't really authentic kitcars in the style of "first, you buy a ford cortina" anymore

  • @russ13b Ay cheers,I've got a mad idea of building one(or similar from scratch)with a twin turbo four rotor mazda engine..1664 hp I've seen on here!

  • @GavinS1965 Wooooooooo!!! steady on, that's a big ole bucket of power for something so small and light. Are you sure it could be driven properly, or was it just for showing off at dynos?? I wouldn't run into this blindfolded, probably be a good idea to find it again and ask what theirs is made of etc before going ahead.

Don't forget, the Mclaren F1 only (only....!!) had 627bhp. How much do you actually need?? lol

  • @russ13b Ay its just an idea at the mo,put it in a Dutton Phaeton or something, hehe,I've ben reading up on themtheres is very tuned I think, mine wouldn't be as powerful as that, but a two rotor 1300cc ish engine with a twin choke carb and 250 hp?Wooo!!,

  • @GavinS1965 Drive properly?Don't know about that but it'd be pretty mad..

  • I'm wanting one really bad right now. Except with direct injection.

  • Whyever not? They are road cars and actually affordable unlike most supercars. You see a lot more Caterhams/other 7s on the road. It's not a 'supercar chart' anyway, there are all sorts of cars on there.

  • @wicksta1 low downforce tho so quite easy 2 crash arent they?

  • can't believe the CCX beated the caterham, it's soooo much heavier! although alot more powerful aswell.

    I love it, CCX<3

  • FAster thn a bugatti,lol

  • @Clyd3able Don't forget that the track has been designed by Lotus...

  • @Clyd3able super sport did it in 1:16.8, so think i care?

  • @thenameistom56789 Hi,retarded child,i commented that 2 yrs ago which is the era where i fcked ur mom,the supersport does not exist 2 years ago.

  • who is stig

  • put in a modded 132b

  • i mean 13b

  • In the US the 500 is $61k, which is actually $3K cheaper than the exchange rate makes it.

But the Classic is $30K, $10K more expensive than it should be! You just can't get a cheap Caterham in America :(

  • If you can register a right-drive car, import it from the UK.

Shaves 5K off when it's all said and done, and you get an engine/transmission to boot.

  • The question is R500 or Megabusa?

  • R500 everytime - the adjustable suspension is so much better.

  • Visually, this is by far my favourite power lap of any car round the TG track, no aerodynamic aids, just power & drifting

  • @harryfritter i'd have to say i would like the atom more, but the r500 is pretty much the same thing...

  • @liljim4 except for it being able to be driven in a light drizle without exploding...

  • @liljim4 The Atom looks as an Ant. Exoskeletal et. al.

  • I don't know about you, but I think the Atom needs to have a second shot at beating the R500. Even now the Atom's stats show it's faster at accel. and breaking than this thing, the fact that it's shorter, wider and lighter than this would make it faster at cornering. I think it could get at least a 1:18.100

  • no mate, an Ariel atom could not beat the caterham r500, they have been going 50 years and know alot more than a little company with 7 employees. people at caterham believe that if it was a warmer day the r500 would of done it in 1.16. all hopes lost for the weeny atom mate

  • I dunno about the new Ariel Atom though.

And the age of the company has nothing to do w/ the car's performance. IRRELEVANT!

  • we'll see

  • Yes, thats true. If it had been a warmer day the Caterham would have been faster. Like Hammond said, cause its such a light car, its hard to get heat into the tyres and it was a cold day that day.

  • how much expensive is this little car?

  • $30k for a kit of the lowend model

  • wawm thats "cheap" XD

  • its 14k

  • around 25000 £ i guess but i dunno

  • there ya have it boys an girls. a Veyron killer for 30 grand. so its not much to look at but it goes like hell for 30 g's

  • am thinkin they only said it was schumacher beacuse hes got a ferrari fxx.

  • superbly driven - that's how cars should be driven.

  • Well I never Stig is Michael Schumacher

  • lol you really believe that?

  • Yeh of course I do. some people

  • i definitely don't. jeremy sort of made it questionable at the end of the interview. i'm thinking they just wanted a good guest and they made it a convenient excuse for a "stig" unveiling.

  • No it isn't.

  • Michael Shumacher isnt the Stig :P

    xx

  • That was awesome!

  • Was he ever going straight in that thing? It looked sideways the whole time lol bloody entertaining to watch

  • 1 above veyron... very pleased

  • some one broke the taco on this car!

    the needles snapped off!

  • AWESOME! We have a 7 as well, sadly we only have the little 1.6 in it. We love the car and yeah, it loves to be driven. It's a phenominal car for the money. AND it's the most fun you can have with your clothes....... oh never mind, we have driven it like that too, but thats besides the point.

  • This has got to be the most entertaining Top Gear Lap i've seen.

  • I got this as a related video to Is It a Good Idea to Microwave this, not that I mind but its funny nonetheless. gotta love how hammond did driving this I'm pretty sure I remember him making some sort of statement to that effect in the episode, as for the Bugatti, they do have a few straits on the track certainly won't top out, but it might be enough to post a top time, any one have one they could let Top Gear borrow? haha

  • mah dad has that car :D

page 2 of my channel to see

  • does your dad really have this car? if so, what colour? :)

  • orange, watch the vids

  • yeh i seen them now :) its really cool

i couldn't find them at first lol

  • seven type cars are really quick. If you put a small engine in one it would still fly thats why i love em they are real giant killers.

  • this is my favourite power lap from top gear because it looks so much faster than it actually is and it also looks like a little red and white wasp! lol

  • I am glad to see a Caterham go around the track, and to do so well. :-)

And you do have to understnad Bugatti is about having the chance to go 253 mph for a top time of what 15 minutes before the tires give out and the fuel runs out? And for making people with lots of money feel important :-)

  • ...and for making miserable bastards jealous enough to make up pathetic stories about the clearly superior veyron owners.

  • the bugatti is not about lap times ppl it is about going 253 mph in comfort and continental crushing power. NOT handline or lap times

  • @DoctorNumber46

And where abouts can you do those speeds?

Why have you posted that comment on Caterham video? nobody cares about the Bugatti (nobody over ten years old or with a brain) its so over rated...

  • @Funkystumpy247 for a start people who have that kind of money would not live in england or the us and say a place where they can do those speeds besides trackday?? no mind never comprehended that did it, the bugatti is a concorde moment its mind boggling how well they have made it sure its not very pretty.

  • My fav stig lap ever. He's awesome

  • What a lap! Exciting to watch with the tail out slightly.

  • slightly?

  • best lap ever imho

  • Spanked the Bugatti, a car with nearly 4x as much power and a huge ass price tag compared. Before anyone says yes I know straight line top speed Bugatti wins, and I know it weighs tons, but still funny to see it beaten on track by a kit car.

  • lol and the bugatti is def one of the most expensive cars on the list.. money to speed ratio = terrible!

  • Great lap!
