THANK YOU,,,the f9 function did not display what you showed I have a newer model. It asked what operating system to use {windows 7 was only option). it then paused for few minutes I almost shut it off and gave up. It then asked for a language, then prompt for a factory restore. I have tried using the DVD restore creator on this computer using external DVD, it would write first DVD then half way through second it would give an error message. 10 DVD's latter I gave up. Took about 20 minutes
ASUS is getting dumber by the minute. Hidden partition. Sheesh. I wonder how well it works after the hard drive crashes. I just bought a new ASUS laptop today. I feel like a fool for not doing my homework first. :(
yeh right, while you're talking about how convincer is to store your data on the cloud, others are thinking about how to steal your data from the cloud. good luck and watch out for the hackers.
I like how you bring up that great point at the end of the video on usage of the cloud for apps and data. Awesome, my wife has been wanting me to do a re-install on our netbook for a while. Tested it and the restore menu started ... didn;t do it yet as she has to move files to her USB HDD.
I have an ASUS Eee PC 1005HA-PU1X-BU(royal blue)seashell Netbook and I have a black screen problem with an upper left corner dash_...I tried F9 it did not help..even after I tuned boot booster off. What should I do?It does not boot correctly nor recover.Someone please be so kind enough to help me out- I'm confused and somewhat netbook problem illiterate.
i was in the process of installing windows 7 "lite" on a asus eee pc 701 & in the process completely formatted the SSD - in doing so i accidentally deleted the hidden partition

F9 doesn't work on my Asus eee pc 4g. I go to the bios but I didn't see the boot booster too... please can anyone suggest a solution to restore my asus.
Hi do you know how to factory restore asus eee pc with xp rather than Linux build? Can't get to bios and software slowly disappearing to pretty soon another piece of junk :( Help please before I squeal EEEEEE
For everyone that can't f9 to work. Try using f2 (on a 1005ha, may vary with model) to get into bios, turn off boot booster under boot section. Then try f9 during post. That's how I got it to work on mine.
@mcwhere hi i have a question f9 did not do anything to my computer and i have a eeepc 1005hab netbook so how do i factory reset for that? like after i turn off boot booster do i restart the computer ? then press f9 again or what ?
@mcwhere Ok So I Did That, And Then I Did F9. The Menu That Pops Up (Before And After Boot Booster) The Menu I Get Says.... GNU GRUB version 1.99~rc1-13ubuntu3
Ubuntu, with Linux 2.6. 38-8-generic
Ubuntu, with Linux 2.6. 38-8-generic (recovery mode)
Previous Linux versions
Memory test (memtest86+)
Memory test (memtest86+, serial console 115200)
Windows 7 (loader) (on / dev/sda1)
none of these options let me factory restore or reboot.
Hey this video helped but I had the same problem with F9 not working. What worked for me was to press TAB to get the BIOS screen up and then pressed F9 during the half-second that the BIOS screen appeared.
Also you can only get the BIOS screen to appear as soon as you load up so you need to be quick.

I have to say that my eePC was some of the best money I've ever spent, I opted for the 160gig HD though....still the factory restore is nice and quick, whenever I start showing any signs of a slow down on the thing I put everything I wanna keep on the secondary partition and restore it and it works like it's straight out of the box again.
i just watched this video, because i had the lsass.exe error on my computer, and it was just plain awesome how this worked! i thank you so much for this, i spent three days fixing it and nothing worked, no cds no flash drives or anything, this was awesome! thanks sooo much, it literally took me 3 minutes! thank u thank u thank u!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ugh, eee pc can be a pain, and the awesome thing is i have eee pc seashell, thank u!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tnx i was trying to find the restore key stroke for an asuse. In our shop we have a cheat sheet for all brands except asus. F9 seems to be the correct key on ours as well.
Very cool! You can do the same with the Windows equipped Eeepc netbooks using a hard drive, same principle applies except you must first hit F2 upon power up to access the BIOS and disable the BOOT BOOSTER before proceeding to factory reset the system.
for some reason I can't login on my asus pc.someone changed the password on my ubuntu. So I can't login. Can anyone help me please?? I have tried other videos and none of them work. Hhhheeeellllpppp meeee pls! Thx
My asus x50sl came with 2 particion with 193 gb in the first one and 93 on the other. its says 93,0GB free of 93.1GB where have the 100 mb gone?! O.o There's nothing there .. So is that the hidden particion :S?
I have a asus Eeepc 900HD...I am trying to restore it to factory settings.... i got the blue screen of death! Every time i try system restore it asks me to pick a date. Every date I pick is rejected. I cant get the f9 button to work either! HELPPPPPPPPPPPP
Disable "Quiet Boot" from Bios and you will be able to see the correct key combination on the first loading screen (an Option for Asus Flash). For mine it was Alt+F2.
I bought an ASUS eee PC 1005HA. What the hell is with these things ??? After literally 1 hour of taking it out of its new box I and turning it on I got the biggest fucking virus ever. Support sucked and that whole factory restoring on a drive thing didnt work, i would press F9 over and over never worked. Had to buy external drive blablabla. I only use this to ocassionaly chat on msn or use a small midi music program. Today for no reason at all windows wouldnt boot up.. what the fuck ?? seriously
You are absolutely right! I had an infection of virut and nothing could clean it.. this option made it possible to actually get it off my system! Great feature..
i put windows on there and its really REALLy slow and i press f9 at the beginning of startup thing i know i did it roght and then it didnts how restore factory settings it shows start windows normally and all that weird stuff :-\
Thanks allot man!

Nice post. My Eee 1005HA wasn't starting either. I was getting these types of errors when i tried to start:
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partiion(1)windows\system32\drivers
The fix:
Turn off computer
Turn on computer, tap F2 quickly (like, 3 times a second) while starting up.
Enter the BIOS Setup Utility
Use right arrow key to move to BOOT tab
Down arrow to Boot Booster (default is "Enabled"). Press Enter, Change to "Disabled". Save changes
Start up again, pressing F9, and follow instructions.

I was completely unaware of this utility. I was having some issues with my wireless card among other things.
And, I do have extensive technology experience.

@Ireg2post1
For everyone having the problem of the F9 key not working. Try hitting the esc key on boot up and then selecting the boot device.
jenglesr 1 year ago
@Ireg2post1 Try f8 that's the most common.
ChrisOverg 1 year ago
@Ireg2post1
Try Alt+F2

Today for no reason at all windows wouldnt boot up.. what the fuck ?? seriously

Hirens Boot *USB* & Ghost 11.5 is also the secure way to backup eeePC . I trusted Acronis but failed to make a descent restore !. Acronis sucks .
x100gr 2 years ago
I did it ...
YES I DID IT !!!!
I made a Hiren's Boot USB stick (search Google for how-to) , and then I copy Eeepc.gho file (from DVD , 'Recovery' folder) .
Then I choose Ghost 11.5 (no other option , no USB , no network) .
Then I select the .gho from USB stick)
it takes about 12 secs .
