@calamityjane131 I heard that he just interjected it cause he was high on something and he felt at the moment it was appropriet, because of the drug...
My main man...from my hometown of Baltimore MD. I'm a 44 yo white man and couldn't be prouder. When I saw him in the Blues Brothers in 1980...I immediately knew who he was...my Dad and I laughed because we all used to listen to him with my granmom back in the day...good stuff kiddies...
its not scat it is called VOCALIZING AND IMPROVISING GETING THROUGH YOUR STUPID DAMN MINDS PEOPLE scat is slang and look up bobby mcferrin while ive got all your attention
for some reason, this stuff reminds me of Sublime, it's like the precourser to it. Maybe I should go back to listening to this kind of stuff for inspiration.
@dragossh The unfortunate part is the genre just kinda ran out of ideas. You can see it happening in a lot of music. For example, rock as a whole, from the softest, most mellow chick rock to the most bombastic, fast, aggressive metal has been retreading the same ideas for about 10 years or so now. Pop hasn't had any sort of revolution in about the same amount of time, as has hip-hop. The only constantly innovating genre right now is electronica. This I do not like, but must accept.
@browncoat697 This music didn't necessarily stop running out of ideas; essentially it was America's pop music from 1925 through WW2; after The War the music diverged; Jazz became Be Bop and pop music was centered more around vocals; this was solidified after the 2nd musicians recording ban in the late 1940s.
Still, considering you only had 500 characters to work with, your point is largely well taken especially regarded electronica which is evolving right along with the technology.
@SatchmoSings Hence the "kinda" in my original comment ;). I play jazz, and obviously jazz went on innovating for decades. I suppose people just got bored with it, which is unfortunate, but logical. Besides, if old genres do not fall by the wayside, new genres don't get room to develop a fanbase.
I don't actually really like electronica. Some is tolerable, but I don't like the artificial sound (perhaps a tad ironic for a metal head like myself). I can see where innovation is happening though.
@browncoat697 A famous symphony orchestra leader, Serge Koussevitzky, once said, "If we don't support the music of today, there will be no music of tomorrow."
Once, Koussevitzky played a new work and the audience didn't like it; they all booed it; they were all looking forward to the second half of the program that was old, standard repertoire.
So, instead Koussevitzky played the new work for the audience a second time!
@SatchmoSings Heh. Good story. I simply do not like the sound of electronica and its associated genres, that's all. Doesn't mean I don't respect it as a genre of music. Other people feel similarly about my favored genre of metal, and I understand completely.
@browncoat697 Thank you for your comments, right-on observations, conversation and overall graciousness; this is something quite rare on "Youtube" and I do very much appreciate it on the seemingly rare occasions that it occurs.
This and you also know what you're talking about which is almost as rare.
@SatchmoSings I try to be the sane, nice guy on YouTube. An endeavor the vast majority of people would consider pointless, yes, but I think it's a useful damper on the constant stream of trolls and half-wits.
As for knowing what I'm talking about... well, I've played percussion 8 years now, but even that pales in comparison to many musicians. I'm only 16, it's hard to be highly experienced at my age. I try to educate myself about music to the best of my abilities.
@browncoat697 Well, I can assure you I don't try, one bit, to ever really be "nice" on "Youtube;" I view it as a waste of time but I'm most glad to make an exception here, thank goodness; I find it a real relief.
Your posted age on your profile has you 10 years older and I must also admit that because of potential legal problems, I rarely, if ever, speak with minors; it makes for too many potential complications.

it's believed that he was the first to record scat, he forgot the lyrics to his new song and improvised with scat.

@browncoat697 Agreed. The last gasp of innovation in rock was the maudlin like grunge era. That is why I am listening to classics like Cab now ;)
