I have no clue how people criticize her acting... for me...this is how this aria/role should be acted, and more importantly, sung. She's so charming, it suits the character so well.

I was once permitted to sing the "solo" at 1:47 during a friend's recital. It was one of the most exciting moments of my life! :)

On another note, it's tragic that such an amazing piece has only 15,000 views when some of the garbage music out there has millions...

I'm fairly certain Dame Kiri retired. Last year i was at her farewell recital in Toronto, simply stunning.

Actually, she's not retired from concert halls yet. She doesn't do opera productions anymore, but she still performs in recitals and concerts. I met her (played with her actually) in Oct 2008 when she came to my country for a gala concert. Lovely lady and she still sings beautifully! But I agree, she doesn't perform much in NZ, unless it's a concert for the Kiri Te Kanawa Foundation (with offices in NZ and UK).

Not sure if anyone has replied but this was in Australia what was then the vitoria state opera in australia. Also had joan carden with I think John Hopkins conducting. it looks the same anyway to the one I taped of the ABC
