Ever heard of preparing the horse on line before ''breaking'' him \her?...Jesus christ.
Breaking is an horrible thing to do! If you take the time to prepare your horse on line before riding him, he will not buck. Believe me, we did that with our horses and they never bucked us, even the first time we got on them.
And, she is smart for riding him bareback. Imagine how many times the stirrups would have bonked her on the head when she fell! And with him bucking and rearing like that, a saddle would not have helped much. In fact, it would be pretty painful to be flung all over a saddle, even and English one. And also, seeing as she is a QH trainer, I doubt she had any saddles to even fit him!
@ slimegirl99- Exactly! Ponies are very strong animals, and this one looks pretty sturdy. Besides, she really isn't that big, she just had long legs. And who else is going to do this? You need to be a really good rider to stay on that pony! Now, if she was planning on riding him everyday and schooling, jumping, ect., of course he would be way too small. But like the description said, this was only for a few days. He's not gonna get a swayback in a few days.
omg people, seriously? your going on about how big she is for the pony? she is breaking the horse in, you find me a 5 - 6 year old suitable to do that! AND ponies are sturdy! they are built strong and can carry weight! read up on horses before posting shit that you dont even no about! ive been riding years!
I would have said robably take him back a few steps first and use a dummy to do that bit as they dont fall off and cant kick them up the arse ect lol but good on ya for persevering! Is suprising to some horse trainers how difficult a pony can be to train! x
@EmzyTurmaine Also know one seems to understand how strong ponie are, I have a highland pony and she can carry 13.5st happily, but a skinny thouroughbred I would break as they are built to be fine and fast and ponies are built to be hardy and strong since there legs dont take them away from predetors quite as quick!
1. she is retraining the pony... not keeping it there backs are quite strong... she is not to big
2. saddles on small ponies are hard for big people its actually safer to ride without as large people tend to get get hung-up in the stirrups
3. learn you stuff before you type a horse is more likely to get a swayback due to a poorly fitting saddle then during retraining with a rider this size (I will recognize that an overweight rider can cause swayback, but this is not the situation in this video)
I know ponies are rather strong but you two are way too big for that little pony, but I understand its hard to find a good small rider as they are all normally really young and inexperienced however I don't like how big you are on that pony.
as if ud know wat ur taking bowt.. none of u idiotes knows that pony ... so shut da f*** up, nd let them do wat they think is right 4 da pony.. dnt think all of u had ever broken a horse in.. i know wat i´m taking bowt, i used to have a biting bucking kicking nd a narsty horse nd i did wat i thought was right nd he turned out stunning...
i wouldnt have been kicking him... i would have walked him for a while then got someone to lead him troting! No offence but like if he was only being broken then i guess you should have expected that :)
First, weight dont cause swayback, it's a diesae and she didnt weigh that much. Learn something about horses before you open your mouth! And you are supposed to put your feet under them to ride like that & I ride bareback all the time bitches.
I've broken a pony myself and many other horses as well...I feel you on this...my pony was a sorrel about the same size as yours...he taught me alot of the same things ^_^
I would buck like hell to if I had a rider that rode like that... Maybe try not curling your legs under the poor horse? Thats part of the reason he went off like that...
Hes not a bad horse. He just needs to be understood. ohh & probably a different rider.
@TheBeautyRebellion no, he's not a bad horse at all, and I don't think his rider thought so either. Ponies generally just have an attitude, I've ridden one and I hit the dirt a lot, too. The only time her legs curled under was when the pony started to act up and she was getting tossed around. That's kinda just what happens when you're struggling to stay on, you clench your legs tighter. Other than that she was just holding on the right way, and not in his flanks. Ponies can just be handful! (:
HELLO CAN ANYONE READ? they were breaking him in, so 1 pribs getting him used to having a person on his back before a saddle. 2. ponies are very strong animals. they can carry quite some weight, and she doesnt look heavy, only tall, i myself have long legs, but i weigh not even 40kgs and im 155cm and i ride a 13hh. learn before you comment your hateful opinions okay guys? i reckon they did good, and also yo someone who said they could get hurt; well yes, they can only if they land in a bad way.
This reminds me of the pony I learned to ride on when I was a lot younger. He wouldn't ever bite but he would try and find a creative way to get me out of the saddle every day and usually succeeded. But you just get back on and keep trying!
youre stupid.. who is your trainer and why on earth did they allow you to do this? they should be arrested for endangering children.. you could have been killed. wtf is wrong with some barns
@chevyblazer500 Its possible at the time she didn't have a saddle small enough. As she said QUARTER HORSE TRAINER. Pretty sure that not very many QUARTER HORSE TRAINERS have tiny pony saddles in their pockets.
@chevyblazer500 saddles have NOTHING to do with the horse's behavior, and they don't keep you on the horse. I can stay on a horse bareback better than in a saddle because i can't grip a saddle as well as i can grip them bareback.
@chevyblazer500 Taffy might be ok with a saddle. horses (or ponies in this case) sometimes dont feel safe without one. my horse cozmo HATES being bareback so up you
@alialialiABC Yes and she would have saved him too if she had reeducated him without the use of force. Anyway, this is just my opinion, I expressed it in a polite way I think, so you should stay polite too. If this looks right to you, it is your choice. But when you don't want to get comments on your video, you just disable the comments.
@AlichinaThePinkLady I wouldn't see it as a fight. In order to get rid of bad habits in horses (and even people) you show them the behavior is not okay. I didn't see her being too forceful or mean to this pony throughout the video, and any horse or pony could be acting badly, and sticking with them through and discovering the problem and then also showing them through riding and training that it's not okay is how it would be solved.
dont listen to those people you are a very good rider i also ride a little pony like that and i am getting to big for her but it dosent matter you cant get a smaller person because they wouldnt be as much expirenced so sometimes you have to have a bigger rider
Saddle or not, ponies are smart as hell and they know that they can throw you forward before they can buck you off. This one figured it out right away. I don't think a saddle would help, and besides the Disabled ridieng school i help at doesn't use saddles all the time so it was a good experiance for the pony.
What a little turkey! That was nice of you girls to put some time in on him so he could be rehomed rather than sold for meat. He is a cute little brat.
One: Good job trying to stay on :D Two: You are not too big. I weigh more than you and I have a pony i am re-training for my son (1 yr old) and my 8 yr old niece to ride. He has no problem carrying me lol. Three: Seriouslly people? Too much on his head? I leave the halter on when i trail ride or add a lead line also for if i get thrown :D That way i can hopefully catch them lol. And Four: I dont see you really kicking him, just trying to hang on when he stops and turns lol. Good job though!
@PossumSplinter Agreed, the rider in this video had to wrap her legs under the horse to hang on which in turn triggered bucking. A lot would have been fixed with a saddle and of course a more experienced rider.
Adorable! Small ponies arent known for being patient! I once rode one in a canter race (only 9 years old and quite small) And it was.................awkward. Good job though!!
@cracycat8899 how else would it be broken in/trained though? a kid the correct size for it would most likely not stand a change hanging on while it does that.
@morghamp Maybe in super-horse-land, or breyer-horsie-land. Not in the real world. At least, not if you give a crap about the horse. This pony is fine with this rider, though.
Say a horse weighs 600 lbs., you really think he can carry 1200 lbs? They can PULL twice their weight, not carry twice their weight.
dude (by the way 1 horse lover) none of you know how to train horses and by the way a horse can carry twice its weight so just shut up i am so sick of freaking haters
same the people who i got my horse off sed that she was from a disabled riding school ... i dont think so ... check out my vids shes pritty unsuitable to be a calm disabled pony :L btw pissed myself at ur sisters fall :)
@foxbodystang100 LOL she's actually not too big for him. Horses can carry half their weight. Yea her legs are long, but she's not too big for him. would you want your child getting up on him trying to ride him? Don't think so.
I think most people don't understand that the majority of ponies start off like this when being broken as they're cheeky little monkeys! To get them to being the calm and quiet plodders and lead reins you see at most riding schools is get someone on them who knows what they are doing. Yes, if she was going to keep him and ride him herself then it would be a problem, but as she is purely breaking him in and possibly schooling, her size and weight is more of an advantage. Rather her than a child!
im gonna have to say i agree, we horse people are stupid to love these animals but more stupid to get on that horse without a saddle (shakes head) lol
oh my! i cant imagine how hard it is to stay n that lil bugger XD i have a hard time staying on my arabian thoroughbred! i think it has to do with how lil we have to hold onto with our legs XD
Im not try to call you a bad rider or telling what to tell what to do with your horse im just trying to give you a few tips {I know I can never have enough tips and I pick and choose the ones I like } I hate when people tell me what to do with my horses and it not easy and fun with no help! Alright well time to go happy trails-Tabitha
Hey there, i have a 3 year old paint that im working with what i did evertime she buck me off make them run! a few times every time they buck you off ,see horses are lazy they dont want to work more then they have to this way you will show them if they buck they will have to work 2as hard and no matter what end on a good ! and work her/him in a small round pen so they cant pick up alot of speed and figure 8s and stops ok well thats all i can think of right now (and hey.......
seriously you people are pathetic! she saved the little ponys life! if she was to big for it then it wudnt be able to get her of! the pony nos exactly wot hes doing, hes just cheecky! well done! youv done amazing with him just ignor all theese xx
IF you are a trainer you should know that if you dont have the proper equipment then you shouldn't be riding the animal i can see the pony needs alot of work but not haveing a saddle made it extreamly easy to get you off and that is a horrible lesson! it only made it harder for him to be trained into a workable horse! im not trying to put you down but think before you decided to teach a horse bad lessons!
@horsecrazed90 it doesnt matter what they decide to use they stopped his bad manners didnt they? at the end of the day if you want to ride him bare back then you dont use a saddle to train him to?
@MissBabeyBear if the horse learns you that he can get you off hes going to get you off i work with this problem every day. you cant give the horse that advantage and if its the first time on a green horse for safety matters you should ride in a saddle to see what your dealing with.
@horsecrazed90 Well said!!! I cant stand it when people dont use the right tack, must fuck the ponies back up too like having a huge sack off shit bouncing on its back. i believe in "re-breaking" them properly, ie lungeing/long reining!
i have a little pony just like that he always bucks me off when i break him in now i have given up i hit the deck to many times i do in hand jumping with him now LOL x
i for one have brocken a TB gelding in off the track and another a filly called donuts and i for a fact didnt break her in bareback to start off with, only after i got her used to the saddle and bridle. but thats just me :)
@genevievedee, I always start riding a new horse bareback. It is way easier to bail out without stirrups hanging you up, and sometimes you NEED to get off quick! And I disagree, the poster says the pony was reeducated, this is the same technique I would have used. They had him on a lunge line for a bit, so they could keep him moving forward, she got back on him every time... Stop being so dratted judgmental!
@Lolita5025 i used to partly rehabilate horse. only the last few steps sinds i was still learning, light weight and i only rode twice a week then i started rehabilating a very unbalenced horse. once had a crack in his bone. they used some of those ways depending on the horse itself and how bad the injury was. i was riding the canter ont right lead was fine but on the left she tripped and landed with her left shoulder on my leg, i would have moved my leg on time with out sadle.
this makes me want to saddle break a small pony! lmao! i have a really good seat. lol i stayed on my horse while she was bucking... i was sitting backwards, had no saddle, and no reins. LOL it was so fun
you should try join up with horses its a great way to get them to trust you and braking them in and; i think works extremely well showing outstanding results (:
That is one naughty pony, bucking and trying to throw both of you off!
I'm glad you took the time to retrain him again, it wouldn't be nice if he only were left in a corner, to be forgotten. It's nice to see and read that you have put effort in him to let him behave again ^^
I have a question though - didn't you have got a saddle available back that time? I've never seen someone breaking a pony in without a saddle, actually xD
that was a neat video, them ponies can make us have a good day and bad as good as the horses can, but your correct without the gear it makes it harder to get it done. You don't know what they can do untill you give them the chance to prove themselves.
ok, ignore the haters. I adore what youve done here. most of the haters have only ever ridden or delt with those bombproof horses that are rented out for lazy trail rides. horses can be nasty sons of b****es and i completely respect what youve done here for this little guy.
one of the pervious comments states- "every time you fall off, your teaching that pony he can misbehave."
WELL idiot- what was she supposed to do! not like she purposely fell off!
This rider is doing her BEST to stay on tis pony's back. Even if it's was a world class rider, YOU STILL FALL OFF WHEN YOUR BREAKING HORSES. you guys need to realize that this was a talented rider who broke a pony, she couldn't have stayed on through the whole thing. None of you could've either.
@rosy48842 I think what they meant is that she should have approached the problem a different way. That pony needed ground work before being ridden and it needed to happen slowly. Hopping on bareback was definitely not the way to go. And that poster was absolutely right. Continuously putting yourself in a position where you're likely to fall off again is only making the problem worse. It's a miracle that pony's behavior improved at all.
You may have eventually got this pony going, but you definitely could have gone about it in a better way. Every time you allowed the horse to misbehave and throw you off you were just teaching it that it could misbehave... all the other little girls who think they know all about training come to your defense... including the top comment she says she breaks all the stallions that people can't handle... give me a break!!!! that comment is ridiculous and naive.
ths pony lives down beside me an his name is still called taffy cheeky lil buger an all still the same taffy is in GOOD OLD IRELAND!!!!!!! he is not being used as to cheeky 4 the kids to handle :( oh well x
Very true,He's a short little thing and atleast you didn't have to far very far. I hate breaking ponies. They are the worst!!! They can do things no normal quarter horse can. LOL He's Damn cute tho!
well when you are bigger than the pony it's always easy to get put on the ground. At least you got him retrained and did it properly as most people would not have and he stood when you fell off that's a good horse/pony. He has a lot of spunk I have to say haha cute little guy.

@foxbodystang100 LOL she's actually not too big for him. Horses can carry half their weight. Yea her legs are long, but she's not too big for him. would you want your child getting up on him trying to ride him? Don't think so.

I think it is safer to ride such a little monster [ ;) ] without a saddle. It less dangerous when you fall off

Um, it might have been easier with a saddle...just saying :/

Hey there, i have a 3 year old paint that im working with what i did evertime she buck me off make them run! a few times every time they buck you off ,see horses are lazy they dont want to work more then they have to this way you will show them if they buck they will have to work 2as hard and no matter what end on a good ! and work her/him in a small round pen so they cant pick up alot of speed and figure 8s and stops ok well thats all i can think of right now (and hey.......

What many people don't realize is ponies are WAY harder to stay on when they go berzerk, it's kinda like having the stool kicked out from under you.

makala291 2 months ago
IF you are a trainer you should know that if you dont have the proper equipment then you shouldn't be riding the animal i can see the pony needs alot of work but not haveing a saddle made it extreamly easy to get you off and that is a horrible lesson! it only made it harder for him to be trained into a workable horse! im not trying to put you down but think before you decided to teach a horse bad lessons!
horsecrazed90 2 months ago
@horsecrazed90 it doesnt matter what they decide to use they stopped his bad manners didnt they? at the end of the day if you want to ride him bare back then you dont use a saddle to train him to?
MissBabeyBear 2 months ago
@MissBabeyBear if the horse learns you that he can get you off hes going to get you off i work with this problem every day. you cant give the horse that advantage and if its the first time on a green horse for safety matters you should ride in a saddle to see what your dealing with.
horsecrazed90 2 months ago
@horsecrazed90 Well said!!! I cant stand it when people dont use the right tack, must fuck the ponies back up too like having a huge sack off shit bouncing on its back. i believe in "re-breaking" them properly, ie lungeing/long reining!

Ponies can be such buggers, looks like you had fun and can laugh at yourself. thats nice to see.
sheedalaadie 2 months ago
@genevievedee, I always start riding a new horse bareback. It is way easier to bail out without stirrups hanging you up, and sometimes you NEED to get off quick! And I disagree, the poster says the pony was reeducated, this is the same technique I would have used. They had him on a lunge line for a bit, so they could keep him moving forward, she got back on him every time... Stop being so dratted judgmental!
Lolita5025 2 months ago
@Lolita5025 i used to partly rehabilate horse. only the last few steps sinds i was still learning, light weight and i only rode twice a week then i started rehabilating a very unbalenced horse. once had a crack in his bone. they used some of those ways depending on the horse itself and how bad the injury was. i was riding the canter ont right lead was fine but on the left she tripped and landed with her left shoulder on my leg, i would have moved my leg on time with out sadle.

KKKrispyKreme 3 months ago
one of the pervious comments states- "every time you fall off, your teaching that pony he can misbehave."
None of you could've either.
rosy48842 3 months ago
@rosy48842 I think what they meant is that she should have approached the problem a different way. That pony needed ground work before being ridden and it needed to happen slowly. Hopping on bareback was definitely not the way to go. And that poster was absolutely right. Continuously putting yourself in a position where you're likely to fall off again is only making the problem worse. It's a miracle that pony's behavior improved at all.
genevievedee 3 months ago
i wonder why you are not using a saddle?!..... :D

You need to go back to first grade and learn how to spell...
Poor pony... And who ever you train QH for is crazy to let you touch their horse!!!
StarHorseLover1 3 months ago
You may have eventually got this pony going, but you definitely could have gone about it in a better way. Every time you allowed the horse to misbehave and throw you off you were just teaching it that it could misbehave... all the other little girls who think they know all about training come to your defense... including the top comment she says she breaks all the stallions that people can't handle... give me a break!!!! that comment is ridiculous and naive.

well when you are bigger than the pony it's always easy to get put on the ground. At least you got him retrained and did it properly as most people would not have and he stood when you fell off that's a good horse/pony. He has a lot of spunk I have to say haha cute little guy.
