  • It's been like 5 years since I left MD for college. I recently finally got around to watching WJZ 13 again and Denise Koch is still there. She's been there since I was a kid!!!

  • What year was this from?

  • how did the sports guy at 8:15 know about the NYC FOX (WNYW 5) and CBS Stations (WCBS 2)

  • Do you mean John Buran? He was the Sports Director on WJZ at the time.

  • That is a fucking stupid question. asnycnow

  • @BiscuitsMcGillicuddy how is it a stupid question? did the sports guy work in NY?

  • it was a stupid question. people in the television business know about other stations in other markets...it's not that difficult to understand. To my knowledge, the sports guy did not work in New York, but I could be wrong.

  • Juluis....GO THE FUCK AWAY. You do not live in Baltimore. Why do you FUCKING CARE ABOUT BALTIMORE? FUCK OFF YOU RETARD.

  • Yes it was.

  • @asnycnow15 7:36 - that guy is what I like to call tenured! ('JZ hat, CBS eye on his badge, and an ABC sweater)

  • because all stations broadcast near each other.

when this happened all stations work together

  • But would you ever see this in...say..New York?

  • nope cuz..

every networ k is based in NY

and have more than two studios they can share

and all TV stations arent on the same street like baltimore

  • The guy at 1:19 reminds me of my Special Ed school teacher at SCPA high school!

  • IDIOTS TO HAVING ON THE ROOF

  • This was in September 1999.

  • I remember this. wjz tv 13 had to broadcast from the fox 45 studios, while wbal-tv 11 had to broadcast from the maryland public television studios.

  • If anyone has the entire newscast, could someone post it, please? BTW when was this?

  • my dad worked for this station. miss the good old days hanging out with everyone at the station.

  • This was when they upgraded the tower for Digital TV,which we will use to abandon Analog TV next year? Wow.

  • Wow, this must have been late 90's. Vic Carter still has most of his hair.

  • I like how the reporter uses the word "doggies" at 1:57.

  • Poor bob with the weather. I remember Hurricane Floyd came 2 days later.

  • Wow, I never knew about this. It's funny to see Vic with hair!

  • Those people had balls to even be on '13 Tower'. I see it everyday that I go to my program....

  • WHY couldn't be the El Zol tower?

  • Look like a Mickey Mouse News Cast

  • 2:00 lmao

  • not their fault... and they did the best they could. WJZ is very professional. I grew up with this station and now that I am overseas I still check up on Baltimore and use WJZ as my source. No mickey mouse about it.

  • it is thats why i never watch unless for laughs

  • This happened around Sept 24-25 1999, I lived on keystone ave on TV hill at the time. We we accustomed to evacuations in that time I lived there, from the clipper Mill fire to Giant Ice cycles falling from the tower though peoples roofs.

  • I remember this too!

  • I remember this!

  • when was this. i dont remember this at all.

  • Fox 5 in WCBS... hilarious, though eventually, they did have to deal with the twin towers, which pretty much carried all the TV stations in New York, however, no destroyed studios.

  • WFLA in Tampa had a similar situation where power was cut off to their old studios in 1999. The competition pitched in to help them put on newscasts.

  • Wow, that's very interesting. I'd hate to see what happen if something like this started again.

  • Wow... Very interesting. I live in Baltimore and I even don't remember this at all either.

  • I do. Man it was so werid seeing them broadcast from another station's territory!!

  • Christa Delcamp is now at WHDH in Boston as morning co-anchor.
